  1. His father needs him at Tennessee for a lot of reasons. I didn't see where CoachT posted this link to the article in the News Sentinel, but here it is: Farragut's Delmonico set to join dad at UT It does require you to be a free "Registered User" of the News Sentinel website.
  2. dheat, I saw where your son was stroking the ball. Congrats on his play.
  3. Thats fine by me. It would work well for us both. I still have a ton of updating to do.
  4. South-Doyle won again yesterday, a 7-5 win over Robinson (VA) to stay undefeated in pool play. Graig Smith had a Grand Slam walk off HR in the bottom of the 7th inning. Moneymaker got the "W" for the Cherokees as they go to 4-0 on the year.
  5. I made the Karns/Central game this afternoon before the rain came and enjoyed seeing the Beavers and took in the new improvements to the field and dugouts. The opponents will appreciate the improved view from the stands and the players will like the infield and dugouts. The Beavers welcomed back their 2004 ex-coach (Danny Sharp) now on the Central staff, with some ill-advised base running and a lack of timely hitting that led to the Central 7-6 win over the Beavers. Another twist to the game was the umpiring of the gray-mullet. Yes, he was back! Last year the gray-mullet threw out the entire Beaver student section after the students were encouraged by Coach Sharp to keep cheering for the Beavers after some questionable calls by the gray-mullet. Some have said that this event had an effect on Coach Sharp's coaching contract not being renewed. Today the gray-mullet threw out a Central player for a hard tag on a Karns baserunner caught in a rundown. The gray-mullet didn't stop with the player, seems he also threw out a Central parent (not sure if it was the tossed players parent). Seems the gray-mullet must have known that Coach Sharp was now on the Central staff. The Knox County sheriff office was nice enough to send two patrol cars to make sure the parent left the grounds. The gray-mullet now has another game in which he has brought the attention away from the game of baseball and onto his fine umpiring skills. All and all another fine afternoon of high school baseball. thumb

  7. Thanks for theupdates! thumb
  8. Maybe its because they will soon be in 3AAA Congrats to Adam on his first pitching appearance in college. I look forward to watching him play when I can work in a game.
  9. Everyone is playing for the #2 spot in 3AAA. I'm not sure who will nail the #2 spot down, but Halls is loaded as #1. It shouldn't take long before we know how the rest of the district will play out. I'm not sure how the other coaches in the district will use their pitching against the Red Devils. It may be like playing Farragut the last few years, no one wanted to waste a good arm against the Admirals. Good luck to all this spring.
  10. When I saw Cameron this year, I saw no cocky player. I did see a fine point player that can take the ball to the hole. Years ago when watching Cameron play youth basketball, I wondered if he may be cocky when he grew up. I'm happy to say today he didn't.
  11. In case someone missed the news: Player of the year Dandrus Witt (Clinton) Coach of the year Ricky Norris (Oak Ridge) First Team Matt Housley (Campbell County) Thanh Tran (Knox Central) Cameron Sharp and Cody May (Knoxville Halls) Jonathan Dye and Jordon Dixon (Clinton) Jody Fersner and Victor Jones (Karns) Ben Ward and Lee Smith (Powell) Rick Daniels-Mulholland and Grant Domsic (Oak Ridge) Congratulations to all these players.
  12. Last night it looked like in the 1st quarter the Karns staff was content to set on the bench while the team threw up 3 after 3. It's like "were not hitting the 3's, I guess we lose". I'm not sure, but these Beavers might have packed it for the winter. On another note, that was another auful crew that worked the game. They couldn't get a correct call if they had too! Sharp got hammered on some drives and nevered seemed to get a call. Many more strange ones also. The comedy of the season was when Victor made a great dunk and then May was immediately wide open under the Halls goal on the other end. He goes up to dunk and gets hung up and the ball rolls out-of--bounds. Now that was funny. I think everyone in the gym laughed on that one including May.
  13. Congratulations to the Wildcats, a deserving group of players that are well coached. They will represent the district in classic style. I heard thar Rick Daniels-Mulholland will play football for Tennessee. Has the district ever had two players that were committed to the Vols? The other being junior Lee Smith of Powell.
  14. Clinton 82 - Oak Ridge 74 The Dragons reel the Wildcats in a little. Congratulations, I didn't see it coming. Can someone tell how the game played out?
  15. Clinton 82 - Oak Ridge 74 Congratulations to the Dragons on the win. Not many including myself picked them to win.
  16. chsbbfan, Sounds like I might have mixed up the players. The main thing I just wanted you to know that I wasn't criticizing the Clinton players that are playing the post position. I just feel they don't have a true post player that can play with his back to the basket in the traditional sense. You have to hand it to players that play where needed for the benefit of the team. I had thought about missing the Karns/Fulton game to see the Clinton/Oak Ridge game, but I haven't seen Fulton this year so I guess I will head downtown. Fulton should be angry after the upset at Seymour.
  17. The 2 best point guards in Knoxville go head to head. I would like Matt Parton at Knoxville Catholic to be able to run my team.
  18. Games left for this week: 2/3/05 Campbell County @ Scott 2/4/05 Clinton @ Oak Ridge Powell @ Halls Central @ Campbell County Karns @ Fulton 2/5/05 Central @ Knox Catholic If Oak Ridge wins over Clinton, then the Dragons get closer to the #2 spot. If the Dragons lose it gives Powell a slight nudge. Looks like #1 is in the bag for the Wildcats.
  19. Nice win tonight and good luck against the Wildcats. As far as the criticism, I think you missed the point. Lockard even said on the radio that Clinton plays without a post player. He said he was proud of Matt for playing out of position for the benefit of the team. What was said, was not to take anything away from Matt Ford.
  20. Clinton 80 - Campbell Co. 58 Powell 67 - Knox Central 61 Loooks like games went true to form tonight. The one upset was the Seymour 64 - Fulton 56 at Seymour.
  21. Delmonico has a history of no interest in Tennessee kids. He expects to get them for nothing, books etc. He missed out on the best class in recent history (2004). The ones he signed from the 2005 class are likely because of the "Hope" scholarship. Larson is a fine player and Walters State will develop him into a fine pitcher. They have had more recent players drafted than Tennessee. You must be talking about Jeffery Lockwood of Halls. He is a junior this year and is a good prospect, but we will see how he does this year. I'm sure his family would love to see him at Tennessee. Knoxville Halls will have a very good team this year and shouldn't loose any District 3 games. Knoxville Central is young and I don't have any prospects from them that I can recall off the top of my head. Things won't change until Rod is gone. The best college coach in the state is at Vandy.
  22. Karns 63 - Farragut 62 Farragut led most of the way in another nail biter as Farragut led 62-61 with 6.6 seconds left. Karns inbounded the ball to Jody Fersner who then drove the distance and was fouled with 1.1 seconds on the clock. Jody is not the player to foul for Karns. He hit both to win the game and finish with 26 points on the night. If you want to see some highlights tonight watch channel 10 and you might get to see two great dunks, one by Victor Jones and another by Michael Hermosillo. I heard Oak Ridge won 60-42 over Knoxville Halls on the way home.
