  1. Look for them to finish 1st in the Clarksville area. Both of their running backs will return and most of the starters made all region.
  2. I can't prove that rumor to be true. Today's paper has NW playing at 8:30.
  3. Congrats, apsuhead. You are 3 for 3 in the first round.
  4. Actually, the CHS/Rossview game wasn't all that suprising. Rumor has it that Orella Fuller quit the team 3 games ago. Keisha Brown from CHS is a good player who is going to get better. Remember, she's only a sophomore.
  5. This game is such a toss-up! You have NE at home, and that's worth an extra 5 points, but they have proved they're beatable at home. In fact, 2 of the 3 district games they lost were at home. On the other hand, NW is starting 4 seniors who have been waiting for this chance for a looong time. Too close to predict.
  6. They still played the game last night. Northwest won 69-50 and it's good to see the players picking up Quentin's missed points.
  7. Crossup, I have been reading some of your provious posts and I wanted to know what your thoughts on how the Vikings played defense in January. You kept saying that NW's defense was weak. Up until January, I agreed with you. But last month, I saw a different side of NW. While it's true that the coaching staff is still weak, Northwest has played some great games and the difference was their cleanup of the boards and their press. I'll admit when they played CHS the first time, a particular player missed his assignment, but he didn't make the same mistake last night. The Vikings have playaed OUTSTANDING games against Northeast and CHS and deserve their first place in the district. Lets hope that they continue to play as a team through February and keep their ranking. I'd love to see them go into the tournament with a first round bye. P.S. Thanks, Darnell for coming to NW. Your playing has made the difference and taken the Vikings' game to another level.
  8. HOW ABOUT THAT GAME!! It was as you predicted, as it went down to the wire. As a NW fan, I'm proud of the team!! They played defense during the second half like they wrote the book, but solid rebounding by Newell and Martin in the 4th quarter made the difference. I'm also glad that Townley brought his "A" game and got 24 points. As a further example of team ball, all of the starters scored double digits. Also give a lot of kudos to Partee and Hendrickson who made KEY plays thorughout the game and showed they are not afraid to mix it up in the middle. THe road is a little more even and a lot more exciting from here since, CHS lost last night to Rossview. I'm looking forward to the next five weeks!
  9. Congrats to the "not very good" Northwest Vikings. They played and beat a very good Northeast team, 68-64. The Vikings were MONSTERS on the boards and the "average" Kevin Townley had 24 points. Will Newell, Rickuel Martin, Darnell Hendrickson, and Quentin Partee had 10 points apeice. Thanks, Gomab, for giving the Vikings extra motivation to win. Can't take ANYTHING from the Eagles. Drake Reed has a beautiful jumper and was probably high scorer for Northeast. See ya'll next Tuesday.
  10. Actually, I think until after this Friday (by then, everyone will have played everyone else once) the district is still up for grabs. Tonight's game at NW vs. NE will set the district standings.
  11. The wonderful thing about tournaments is that when it starts, it's a whole new ball game. Northwest is NOT a "not very good" team and maybe it's best that since you have such low opinion of the Clarksville teams, you should focus your energies elsewhere. If you look at the standings, NW is above Rossview, but according to you, Rossview is a sleeper team. And yes, I know the definition of "sleeper". Interesting point of view.
  12. The last post with the namecalling was sooo juvenile and uncalled for.
  13. Of course, his mom taught him!
  14. hey KingCub00, when is your next game in Clarksville?
  15. Check your figures, we never played Station Camp.
  16. To southtnlooker, please recheck your memory bank. The people who hyped up NW before last year either did not play or wanted to start something and couldn't back it up. We at NW knew we wouldn't have a strong team until last year, and last year, we did prove it. This is a new season with new players, but our core is intact and measuring how everyone is trying to bash us before the season has started, we must be the team to beat. If we weren't, you would direct your comments elsewhere. Good luck to the Vikings!!
  17. Ask any player in the region, NW was the team to beat. It was a very bad game in round 1 of the playoffs, but that's the way it went. This is a whole new year. A good assessment of the NW team cannot be made until Newell returns from playing football. I also read where Newell goes to the left a little too much. If he's going to the left, that means the other players are going to their right, and why didn't they stop him? It was exciting to see the Vikings play last year and I'm looking forward to this season.
  18. Congrats to the Vikings who squeaked out a win over the Mt. Juliet Bears 38-36. It was a long shoot-out, but I guess the Bears ran out of bullets. The Vikings haven't seen 6 football wins since...whenever. Props to the Bears, they have a good air attack. Vikings, take a deep breath tonight and get ready for White House!!

1st 6-week grading period ended last week (and the week before). Anyone lose any key people due to failing? What are TSSAA guidelines for grades and playing?

  21. To the oxymoronic wiseguy, I am neither a high schooler nor someone out of the loop. As everyone else suggests, don't talk what you don't know. Save the tissues for yourself. You'll need it before I will.
  22. Thank goodness your post is only one person's opinion. There's nothing wrong with Coachchris. I'll bet he's decided to let the team's numbers and player's stats speak for themselves. I'll also bet that if you cannot respect the numbers that his team has put up, he's wasting his time and has better things to do.
  23. If my info is wrong, I apologize. Maybe we heard wrong.
  24. It's hard to speak for all of Clarksville and not be biased, so I'll let someone else give their list of the best players at their respective positions. The Leaf-Chronicle will publish the stats on Friday (starting tomorrow). I hope that all the area coaches submit their info. It gives the boys something to look forward to. It also gives them a measure of their success against others. Will Newell is definitely college bound. The trouble is, What school? He's already turned down an offer to Kentucky because the school has never interested him. (And besides, they already signed McLintock). UT, UNC, Penn, NC State are looking at him very hard, just to name a few. His possibilities are scary because he's good in football, basketball, and has a 96.72 GPA.
