  1. Omar is a very good player, no doubt. But what is the point of the constant flopping? Does Cutlip teach it? Think about it. It's like saying, "I'm not good enough to beat the other team unless I trick the referee into thinking I was fouled." Omar is not the only one who does it. But if he really is a D1, is the high school flopping really necessary?
  2. Class AA rankings 1. Elizabethton (because of the formula) Psquared+Tsquared*CCsquared*v/11+43/(2*SO)+5=1 2. Happy Valley Class A rankings 1. Cloudland 2. Unaka 3. Hampton
  3. By now that poor dead horse has maggots in it. Can't you people just bury the thing? Or perhaps just spread its ashes on Unaka's football field so that Charles Lee Guinn Jr. III can run up and down on top of it and say, "Yeeeeeeeeehhhaaaaawwwww!"
  4. I think some posts by certain people are so ridiculous they should be ignored. If you reply to them, it just adds to their adrenalin of stupidity which has already overtaken their brain. So if you see any posts on this thread that seem really way out in left field, just ignore. Said person can't have fun if you don't reply to them.
  5. Real Deal, Newsflash: Nearly all CoachT.com message boards are about "tooting your own horn." And you are going to look very foolish when Rikki leaves and the Cyclones are still one of the best teams in the area. It just shows your lack of knowledge about the younger players in the program. But that's OK, not everybody can be as smart as coachh17, whom you love.
  6. Mike Wilson is clearly one of the best coaches in the area. He has his faults, but he knows the game and treats the kids well. And he was smart enough to get Harry Farthing on board when he had an opening at the junior varsity level. Wilson has helped three teams reach the substate round, twice in Class AAA and once in Class AA. How many coaches have that on their resume? And he might add a fourth trip this year or next. Clearly the Cyclones have an edge on most teams when the ball is tipped off because of the way Wilson coaches. As for Farthing, few people know of the impact he has made on the Elizabethton girls basketball program. He started at the ground level and began planting the seeds that are now maturing into kids with high school success. It's almost like he's Johnny Appleseed, or maybe Johnny BasketballSeed. Need proof of his ability? The last two teams he has coached have gone 31-5 or something very close to that. What more could you ask from the man? It is clear from watching his teams play from the stands that he know Xs and Os. He pushes the kids hard and maybe gets a little mean at times, but what he also gets are results. I think some of the Elizabethton parents need to let their little daughters get criticized a little bit and quit babying them. It's part of basketball for a coach to yell at a kid, as long as there are no cuss words or that sort, and I've never heard Farthing do that. I have been told there are some situations he could have handled better, but the man is not perfect, perhaps stubborn, but he could work on that. I will tell you this, you don't know what you've got until its gone so support what you've got. And that goes for Wilson and Farthing.
  7. I have read enough anti-Elizabethton junk on here. It's time for someone to stand up and back these ladies. They have won 36 games over the last two seasons, one of the best totals in school history. They deserve credit for what they have done. I saw in both local newspapers, Star and Press, that Unicoi will win the district. But come Thursday those guys will have serious egg on their faces. I have watched these ladies from a distance and have spoken with their coaches. I am telling everybody that the regular season was just a glorifed practice for the games that really count. These girls will step up and capture the district title. They will pound Sullivan North, beat Sullivan Central and then get over the Unicoi hump. Just look at the talent, a top-notch point guard with tons of heart in Whitney Bishop, great wings in Valnesha Redd (all-state next season) and Tanya Dykes (small college potential), the best all-around player in east Tennessee in Rikki Baughman (Division I material), and the best freshman post maybe in the state in Michaela Pietrowski. Also, there's players like Brandi Forbes, Cameron Crapps (a rising star), Victoria Hopson (great future potential), Eden Treadway, Valerie Kauffeld and an interesting freshman post Marti Bush who has looked very good in the Jayvee games I have seen this season. Add it up and I say Watch Out! Here come the Cyclones!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. You want a coach at Science Hill that knows what he/she is doing? Simple answer: Hire Harrison Farthing from Elizabethton. If you need it built, he will come. Guaranteed. Help me out here, osubrutus. Here's your chance to agree with me.
  9. I've tried to stay off of CoachT because every time I post something, brutus accuses me of being 18 different people on here. I don't have time for that, but please keep on doing what you're doing, old boy, it keeps thing lively I guess. As for the Unaka schedule thing, I'm just saying one thing and one thing only. I don't care whether Unaka could or could not schedule Class AAA teams. That fact remains that they DID NOT schedule Class AAA teams. The fact remains their schedule strength is No. 83 in Class A, which equates to playing Seven Sisters Without The Ability to Dribble 26 times. Of course, the fact remains that Elizabethton's strength of schedule is No. 98 in Class AA, which equates to playing Seven Sisters Without The Ability to Shoot Magnet School 26 times. Therefore, all things being somewhat, but not exactly equal, Unaka's schedule is NO BETTER than Elizabethton. And Daniel Boone's is even worse at 104 in Class AAA. That's like playing Seven Sisters Without The Ability to Dribble or Shoot or Think 26 times.
  10. I found something rather funny on CoachT today. Countless times on here, osubrutus has chided Elizabethton for its schedule strength, while also acting like Unaka has played a WNBA schedule. I looked at the strength of schedule rankings and see that Unaka is No. 83 -- among Class A schools only no less. What a joke. Elizabethton's strength of schedule is very low, too, in the 90s in Class AA. But while the Cyclones have played a weak schedule, so has Unaka. And it should be easier for Unaka to raise its strength of schedule because it can get a double-bump on most Class A schools by playing Class AAA schools -- which Unaka doesn't do -- while the Cyclones can't get that same bump despite playing Daniel Boone, Tennessee High, David Crockett and Dobyns-Bennett. osu, saying Unaka ranks above Elizabethon based on strength of schedule is all wet. And that goes for your buddy coachh17, too, who ranked Unaka above Elizabethton in Carter County. You would think a guy that coaches at Elizabethton would know that his own players are better than the ones at Unaka, but I guess not.
  11. If Unaka could beat Elizabethton by 20 and win so easily that Coach Lambers could play his freshmen, why in the world does Unaka want to play Elizabethton? Seems like it would be better to schedule University High an extra game, so your little girls can get better competition.
  12. never heard nor seen from a Crockett fan on CoachT, although this would be an appropriate time. is tennessee high a tad overrated perhaps???? guess everybody will find out Thursday night when they play at Boone.
  13. Oh, darn. I guess the fact that I can spell .....leaves me out of this contest. But you Unakies go all after it and have a big old time.
  14. et: thanks to the freedoms in this country, you are free to reveal your ignorance any time you so choose LOL
  15. Actually, no, your spelling is not OK "a lot" is two words, not one...but what else should I expect from another bitter unaka fan And I enjoy it when people try to guess who I am or think I am somehow associated with Elizabethton, as if Elizabethton is the only school in the country that uses Cyclones for a nickname. You wouldn't believe the people I've been accused of being. And another funny thing, the assumption that you know whether I am male or female and suggesting I have a wife..what fun I am having laughing at you.
  16. and by the way, etgohomesportseditor.... it's "an" excellent "idea" NOT "a" excellent "ideal" You might want to change your nick to etsportscantspellandhavenogrammarskillswannabeeditor
  17. listen, children...if you want so badly to raise money for the boys and girls club and that is your true intention of starting a thread...it should have nothing to do with Unaka playing Elizabethton in girls basketball. Unaka people have been whining and crying on here for months about those teams playing each other -- despite the fact that it AIN'T gonna happen -- so to use a fundraiser for the boys and girls club as an excuse to take another shot at this dead horse is laughable at best. tdog, if you want to raise money for the boys and girls club, then be creative enough to come up with a decent way to do it without trying to promote YOUR OWN interests. Don't sink to the level of someone who gets on here with a holier-than-thou attitude about raising money for a good cause when the real interest is getting Unaka to play Elizabethton -- which again AIN'T gonna happen. see, not such a slam-dunk after all etgohomesportseditor....
  18. when you quote coachtdog, it just makes you as dumb as coachTdog. again, this is a girls thread...if you want the boys thread, go to "winter sports".."boys basketball"...hope that's simple enough for you
  19. this is a girls thread, but that may be kind of hard to figure out for someone from Unaka
  20. Bulletin: Unaka and Elizabethton will not play this season, nor next season, nor maybe ever -- unless, of course, Unaka has the guts to move up to Class AA any time soon
  21. not based on previous results but how they stand now..... 1. Elizabethton 2. Hampton 3. Happy Valley 4. Unaka (until Cloudland beats them) 5. Cloudland
  22. by 8? are you kidding me? Volunteer doesn't have enough offensive weaponry to stay that close to Elizabethton, unless the Cyclones pull a no-show.
  23. Since the officiating was the only reason Unaka got defeated at North Greene, I would say the Rangers should win by about 20 this time. Anything less would lead me to believe the officiating whine was just an excuse.
  24. Problem is: Unaka may not be any better in February than they are now. Let's just pencil them into the state tournament and be done with it.
  25. Cyclones looking good.... Let's hope Mikey Wilson can keep the girls from getting overconfident. That looks like the only thing that could slow the 'Clones down at this point.
