  1. Well it has been interesting to follow this thread. I am intrigued by the responses. Good luck getting anything changed. We do have to many classes for football. But I would always be infavor of keeping D1 nad D2 seperate. There are different rules that each has to abide by and there is no equity. A school that does not have to take kids that live in a geographic zone, but can cherry pick the ones they want has an unfair advantage over schools that have to take the kids zoned strictly to them. There is no way to spin this to justify putting everyone back together. The schools that can give grants are very good and have great programs but are not playing by the same rules that the public schools have to go by.

  2. Hey 2Cents I would always agree to play up if I knew that if I needed a stud player at a particular position or positions I would just tell someone close to my program and they would deliver. Let's not act like it is a level playing field because it is not. When you spomsor kids or give them rides based on their abilities it is not a level field period.

  3. I like the way Georgia does their play-offs, and how they seed teams. Georgia has 5 classes with 8 regions (like we use to have) and then they take the top 4 teams out of each region. Then they place one team from each region into 1 of 4 brackets. So no team from the same region meets until the semi-finals at the earliest. Now grant it geographically and financially for some teams this would be tough to do, but it sure does make the play-offs fun to watch in Georgia.

I liked the old 5 class play-off system. It was so much easier to determine who got in and who didn't. Also I was thinking about this add an extra week keep the 6 classes do the play-offs the same way, but after the class 1A-6A are decided and even the DII champs could do this. Take the final teams from each class and then play 1A and 2A in a championship 3A and 4A in championship and then 5A and 6A in a championship.

Hey RC I like that idea just keep the privs to themselves and that would make it really interesting.

So going off of this years final 6 it would look like this

    A

South Pitt vs. Signal Mountain (which was a great game in the regular season.)

    AA

    Alcoa vs. Greeneville

    AAA

    Columbia vs. Maryville.

    DII

    Ensworth vs. Webb

  4. How about spreading teams out and not putting two high ranked teams in the same areas. There may be some travel involved but is that not what makes the play-offs great. Let's look at other states (known for football) and see how they do it. EX; Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida, I believe they play pretty good ball in those states.

  5. The 8 state champions are to many. Go back to the five classification regions, the way it was before the virginia plan(?). As for putting everyone back together, no way it's not fair to play teams that can go get players they need or want and public schools have to take what is zoned for them.. In Georgia they have more of a population to draw from and the majority of that population is very proud to send their kids to the public school they are zoned and do not look down on public education or are scared to send their children to school with common people.

  6. Great 2010 Tennessee High School Football Season. Congratulations to all the Champions in all classes. The glaring fact is that in 6 out of 8 championship games the margin of victory was 21 points of more. This brings to light some flaws in the play-off system and the way the brackets are structured. Is it not the objective to have the best teams get to the finals? And if there is a superior district the teams in that district cancel each other out way to early. Any thoughts or ideas to correct this flaw?

  7. They have four-year classifications but teams can be moved up after two years, provided they've grown 20 percent plus pass the cutoff. This looks like what will happen to Signal Mountain. EH at 1030 just misses the AA to AAA jump it seems and will stay AA for all sports. For the next two seasons, if the enrollment rises to 1400-1500 they'll be in a basketball region with a couple of schools nearly 1/3 their size. The TSSAA ought to go by EH's ninth graders, multiply that by four and set their enrollment from there since the older grades probably don't have nearly as many students.

The bad part of this whole thing is that there are to many schools in Hamilton County and the talent pool is diluted. There is getting ready to be an influx of people moving in with industry and it will be interesting to see what happens then. Bigger schools are the norm everywhere else. On another note: What is the status of the football stadium at EH where are they and will they play at home next year.

  8. What kind of enrollment are you looking at over the next couple of years. This year's is 1052 according to the Hamilton County Dept of Education, despite what are probably smaller classes in the junior and senior grades than what will be entering the next two seasons. Regardless it looks as if EH will be allowed to play in Class AA the next two years.

To be honest I have no alegience to a school in the Chattanooga, but frequent games all over the area. The way it sounds the new school is going to increase it's enrolment therfore they may move up which would be good for them, not sure if they will be ready to play the bigger schools at that time though. They may benefit from playing two more years in the class they are in. What do they look like for next year?

  9. Red bank game made the lions look like the Tennessee Titans. Canes looked like last years team and the play calling was no better.Canes are going to run the same four plays all game .Defensive backs look lost and could not cover anyone. I do think they will get better next year, but only if the staff get their thinking out of the 1980's.

Hey Tom sounds like you know alot about what the canes are doing and know the history of football to determine what decade plays come from. Maybe the coaches will get their play calling out of the 80's if you get rid of your hair style from the 80's.

  10. Good job showing how overrated McCallie is this year. They are NOT the McCallie power we have seen in the past. I still can't believe you guys lost to Whotewah. You all clearly had more talent but failed to pull it together. We had a very disappointing loss Friday night as we lost that game in the first three minutes of play. Hope the coaches study the film and stay away from starting the game with a formation that has not been successful for us.

See you Friday at Finley, looking for a better game than last year.

    GO CANES!!!

Hey EHgreen sounds like your not happy with the the coaching over there at East Hamilton. What should they be doing. Have not had a chance to see them how do they look

  11. Both teams are 2-1,both teams lost alot(due to graduation)...who wins and why?

Well the Soddy game was a huge surprise I do not think the Owls have los to the trojans since 2003. That was probably the most shocking score I heard all night. I think Coach Williams will have them ready to go for Franklin. They have a bunch of tuff hard nosed kids that believe they can win and have pride in what Owl football has become.

  12. FYI. I sure hope you are not a Police Officer because you are not a very good detective. As I stated previously I watched the game and not from the field so I hate to burst whatever bubble you are riding on I am not Mr. Gatewood. As far as rap music? I never heard anything that night that was questionable. But it sounds like you are someone that is jealous and trying to find anything you can to try and start something bad against the new school.

Hey Tiger sounds like he's a Gatewood hater and East Hamilton hater. Good luck to the canes this week.

  13. I heard it's dead. Ooltewah is too wrapped up in unwed teens having kids with dead beat young red necks!

    What trash!

Ohhh Donk that is so true. That whole thing really puts a negative light on a great community. It shows that people will do anything for their 15 min of fame and some $$$$$$. Everyone involved with that stuff should be ashamed.

  14. Coach Monroe is a great football coach and that is a proven fact. He seems to be as current as any coach on te sidelines today.

he seems to be a true Southern Gentleman and that is refreshing. I wish him nothing but the best and am thankful he has given his all to high school football. High School football is the purest form of the game of football.

  15. Williams is looking really good right, now. Hey.. just heard that ol' Gerald Williams may be on the top of the list for OHS....yall would be really lucky to get him....hes wanted it for a long time and heck he's on the sidelines every game anyway.

Ha Ha Ha That is a good one. He probably has put in for it. Was he not mad he did not get the basketball job and wined to the news paper about that. He is a hooterville icon (big) icon.
