  1. That's unbelievable , that kid can QB at a smaller D1 School I promise you that ... geez , accurate on the run both ways including against his Body .. very athletic and Quick , I'd take him at Tennessee in a heart beat . How big is he exactly? He looks Drew Brees size to me . If he goes to Austin Peay i'd bet there's gonna be a lot of schools having regrets in a couple of years . Ty Chandler was fun to watch too , great Back ! I think MBA & BA both have more talent across the entire team than they've had in a while to be honest

I know Austin Peay is D1 , I just mean a bigger more prominent school , I think he can play ... including in the SEC .

I tend to agree. He is a gamer. He just makes plays.

  2. i sure like the sound of winning. i got a question. what good teams dont beat bad teams? last time i checked a coachs job is to beat the teams on his schedule. something we aint done in a long time here at lebanon.

Yes...I think he would have a good chance to win at Lebanon. He will get kids out that are not playing or going to other schools.

  3. I tend to agree with owlman on this one. How many of those games were against the cannons, jacksons, gordonsvilles, oliver springs, uppermans etc of the world. He struggled against TC and York for years and toward the end of his time there when he installed his I guess you could call it version of the spread which faltered every year in the playoffs. The 2011 team was definitely good enough to to get to at least the quarters but got beaten by PC. He was always better using the pro style offense. Great players coach and motivator, I just think he is a better oc than would be a head coach

Uh...seems everyone struggled with TC & YAI for a few years. They beat TC 35-0 two years in a row. YAI had two good years...and won on about an 80 yd pass with 16 seconds to go in the quarter final.

  4. I have only ever been to about 8-10 SC games ever but he cost them a few York games I wanna say maybe 2007-2009 York games and I remember a few of the pearl Cohn games and the Fairview game in 2012. Good coach but he tried to run stuff he didn't have the personnel for at SC

That is just silly. I guess the personnel was good enough to win 109 games in his 11 years as OC at SC..lol

  5. I wouldn't hire gentry personally. He has cost Maynard a lot games in tight moments that shouldn't have lost. Great motivator and players coach but not a head football coach. Lebanon needs a young vibrant coach to come and set the standard of winning. The only way they can achieve this is by running a wide open spread offense unlike harp did in his tenure.

That makes me think you must have been at ALL of those SC games. Which games in particular did he cost Maynord? Just curious. If so...how would you know?

  6. Congratulations to the Dragons on their bowl game this Saturday. York tied with Upperman and Smith Co for 3rd all with 3-3 region records. It was decided by overall records even though Upperman and Smith both played single A teams and York played all 3A, 4A and 5A teams. (York beat Smith Co, Smith beat Upperman and Upperman beat York). The game will be at 5pm Central time at Grace Christian Academy.

Gee...give it a rest. The schedules for all 3 were about even. SC & YAI both played Stone & LA. Gordonsville is rated higher than White County. Macon is rated much higher than Kingston. The U did play Monterey...but they also played Cookeville. Trousdale is 1a...but they are probably better than White & Kingston. Moot point anyway.

  7. in region play only? that would encourage running up the score on some of the weaker teams creating more issues like injuries, less playing time for younger players, and lopsided victories. Maybe a point system that would give you 1 point for victories over 1a/2a teams, 2 points over 3a/4a, and 3 points with victories over 5a/6a?

That wouldn't necessarily be any better. Some 1a/2a teams would and have beaten 5a/6a teams.

  8. It astounds me how much East Tennessee fans are disconnected with the rest of the state in terms of talent and competiveness. PC is as battle tested a team in the state in terms of schedule, in 2014 they beat the Division II State Champ MBA. East Tennessee folks when is the last time an East Tennessee school has done that?

They didn't beat MBA in 2014. They did play them close a few times.

  9. Earlier this year, TSSAA voted against going to 4 classes in Boys & Girls Basketball, Baseball, Softball.  They released the classification for 2017-2021 today.  TSSAA classification plan makes no sense whatsoever and is completely unfair.  There are a number of schools that the TSSAA slotted to compete in 4A Football (1102-827 enrollment), but AAA (largest class) in Basketball, Baseball, Softball (2513-1033 enrollment).  So, their Football team will compete for state titles against schools with as few as 827 enrolled students; while their Basketball, Baseball, and Softball squads will have to compete with schools as large as 2513 enrollment!!!

It gets worse ... these same schools that are AAA in Basketball/Baseball/Softball and 4A in Football - are 2A in Volleyball and Soccer!!!  The AA Soccer enrollment numbers are as low as 668 and the AA Volleyball numbers are as low as 583!  To recap, these schools play schools with an enrollment as large as 2513 in Basketball/Baseball/Softball, but as low as 827 in Football; 668 in Soccer; and 583 in Volleyball!!!

How does that make sense?  Whatever happened to playing in a league against other schools of similar size and geographical proximity in all sports?  Why does the TSSAA have 6 classes in Football, but only 3 classes in Softball, etc?

The following schools should be LIVID: Seymour (1102), Portland (1089), Liberty Tech (1083), Lawrence County (1082), Springfield (1081), Montgomery Central (1077), Kirby (1067), Stone Memorial (1061), Anderson County (1060), Spring Hill (1053), Tullahoma (1042), East Hamilton (1038) and Sequoyah (1033).

If any of these schools advances in the AAA Region, Sectional, State Tournament rounds in Basketball, they will potentially do so by playing opponents that are MORE THAN TWICE THEIR SIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!  In many cases, they have to do this to get out of their own District!!!  For example: Stone Memorial's 1061 has to defeat Cookeville's 2203 to advance from their own District!!!

TSSAA spent a lot of time considering the Division II changes and made sure Football kept their 6 classifications.  Class A schools pushed for the changes that made the majority of private schools to depart Division 1 for Division II.  Now, the large schools are stuck to play the MEGA-SCHOOLS.  But, I'm scratching my head why Softball couldn't have 4 classes to make for competitive balance?

TSSAA - you can fix this for Softball - add a 4th class and keep the MEGA-SCHOOLS separate from schools that are LESS THAN HALF their size!

There will be several schools in A & AA competing with schools twice their size also. The bigger the schools...the less it matters.
