I really don't think several years down the road will be a factor...lolUHS is down this year from the 2014 and 2015 teams.....more like the 7-5 2014 team. I say its 35-14. Maynord wont try and run the score up....Herron played for him and the tide could turn in future years as Putnam grows west.
-
Honestly don't see a problem with going to someone else's scrimmage and watching another team, Even if you are scouting, I mean if you get that tore up over another coach being at your game sounds to me like you got some issues. He's going to get the game film anyways.
It's a little different when you are on the sidelines listening to offensive and defensive calls. I don't think Maynord was too happy about it. If he does run it up on the U...their DC is to blame.

Trust me my southern friends, they won't be taking the foot off the pedal this year!
Uh...ok...lol

Scooter is the only one right! Macon wins big time
geo...ever the optomist...lol

You guys have the best player in the region with a lot returning so this could be the year.
No doubt. Jennings has to stay healthy. He has been banged up in the past. He runs a lot...so that puts him at more risk.
-
Stay healthy Antwan, we need you! Gonna be a long season. Jennings will probably receive some Football offers before the end of the year.
I would think he has already chosen baseball. He is a great athlete.
-
Seeing Bowling Green is probably worth the price of admission. They are the best 5a team in KY.
-
It will certainly be a close game as it usually is.
-
Injuries will play a lot in this years ranking. Jennings with a full ride to Ole Miss is one hit away from throwing golden opportunity away. It's not "if" he can sign with a SEC ride but he has already signed. Upperman could lose a key back and really cause them problems. Seq. seems to have several players to step up if need be. SC can't afford to lose their freshman manager. Might have to play 10 man football if they lose players. SC has 6 home games this year. York, well they have a lot of players returning but can they afford to lose any key players. Dad seems to think they will be improved this year. Teams are going to lose players every year but which key players that are lost can affect the outcome of the season. Now, with all this said, you already knew it.
Jennings is playing baseball at Ole Miss. He could play football at a high level also.

Who all are in it this year?
Smith County plays Trousdale County varsity and jv. I think Bowling Green and Station Camp will also be there. BG is loaded...and they got Justice Dingle from Oakland. Not sure who else is playing.

Still the best thread in the history of this website.
No doubt

It helps when it's a school with a rich softball history.
Most schools don't care about softball.

This came way out of left field. I just don't know what to think about it currently. Who should DC go after as their next head ball coach? This new opening will be an extremely coveted job. I find myself super curious if our administration will actually do a legit statewide search, or if there will only be a short list of local people as potential candidates.
Thoughts?

Most rural schools like ours don't pay much. That will limit the candidates quite a bit.

Do you remember what year Ashley graduated? It seems as if I went to school with her, but that she was 2-3 grades ahead of me. Yeah, Morgan was a good one, that's for sure. I'm only two years older than her, so I seen her play several times throughout the years.
Now how did the Morris girl manage to play at SCHS for 5 years? Did she play for the HS while in 8th grade, or did she get held back a grade one year sometime throughout her time is a student from K-12?
She played for the high school as an 8th grader. That was before the middle school was built. I think Redmon graduated in 2004.

The best Dekalb pitcher was probably the Barnes girl.. She could bring it...and was left handed. There have been some pretty good pitchers in the district. Hull pitching the U to the title game was a very good one. Anderson that pitched for YAI for one year (2003) was tough. She pitched at Austin Peay. Curtis for LA was really good for 4 years (1997--2000) or so. She pitched at Cumberland before being injured. Tackett was good at the U. She was only in the district for 2 years. She pitched at Cumberland. Morris at SC (1999-2003) was all district 5 times. She pitched at Bethel...all conference every year. Wakefield & Pyburn from SC both played at Lambuth 4 years. Redmon from DC pitched at Maryville all 4 years. All of those pitchers won district titles. Some won a couple. .Oh ok then, I believe you.
Yeah, I think he's already HOF worthy myself. However, I just wanted to get other peoples opinions. Obviously mine is going to naturally be slightly biased. I agree with you on everything you just said. In your opinion, who is the best pitcher Coach Bond has ever had?
Also, who is the best pitcher you've ever seen in this district? And if you can remember as much, what years did she play, and at what school?
-
What's everyone's thoughts on Coach Bond? Is he currently already hall of fame worthy with all of his accomplishments to date? Or does he need to do a little bit more and add to his overall resume to be considered for the HOF, something such as winning a State Championship before he retires? If you don't feel a gold trophy is necessary, what other milestones would it take for him to get in? As things stand now, it could be, just maybe you don't feel CDB is in anyway, shape, or form a worthy candidate at this point in time.
Before people go about answering any of my questions, let's first take a gander at Coach Danny Bonds overall record/resume. For the third straight year in a row, CDB has lead his Lady Tigers out of region play, and advanced them all the way to the State Tournament.
Overall record: 678-258District record: 291-5618 district titles. 24 regional appearances. 12 sub-state appearances. 8 state tournament appearances. 31 winning seasons in 31 years coaching at DC.
He has an overall winning percentage of 0.72%
He has a district winning percentage of 0.83%
Over a 31 year span, he's only averaged 1.86667 district losses per season.
Over that same time frame, he's averaged a district championship every 1.722 years, or 0.58% of the time..
In a total of 31 chances, he's only failed to NOT make a regional appearance just a mere 7 times.
So what is everyone's honest to god thoughts, and or concerns on the future likelihood of our beloved coach potentially being inducted into the HOF?
I'd really love nothing more than to see a list of all the current HOF softball coaches, That way maybe I could get a decent idea of what the standard resume looks like for inductees. Such things as overall wins, district titles, region titles, state appearances, and state titles. Can anybody possibly provide me a link to a up to date list similar, or identical to what I'm desperately searching for? That would help me out immensely!
I certainly think he is HOF worthy. He has never really had a dominant pitcher. He has had some good ones...but not that title winning dominant one. He has had some great teams with average talent. He can coach.

Are you truly planning to write a book in the future? If so, what all will it detail? I'm just assuming 8-AA softball would be one of the main topics discussed, correct? A book covering our districts history would definitely be something I would be interested in reading, thus I would surely purchase it.
Are you 100% positive concerning DC's best finish? I would of swore that we finished in third place one year. I'm probably wrong though. Even though you're a darn ole true SC fan through and through, you're still one of the most knowledgeable posters on this here site. And that's not just football either, it's seemingly every dang thing.
Yes...it is their best finish.

Love undefeated teams, just like everybody else, but would rather win a State Championship than be undefeated - my point - DeKalb is pretty tough, but they have ONE pitcher. ONE pitcher who helped take them to the State last year and she was worn completely out when they got to the Finals!!! And this year is going to be the same. The pitcher is pitching against teams that are awful and of course they are winning BIG - 12-0, 12-2, and so on. I don't get it. Get some other kid in there to do some of the work against the teams that are not in your District. My gosh, get the kid some rest so you can have the firepower to bring home a STATE Championship! DeKalb won't get it done again this year because they won't have the arm to do it WHEN IT COUNTS!!!
Almost every team that has won a title has one dominant pitcher.

Rhodes is a great school.
All of them are. We had a girl from here that played for Rhodes.
-
I will keep that in mind. there parents won't go for the JUCO thing as their grades are all very high. I think those both are great options.
I edited the post...but consider DIII. University of the South...Rhodes...Centre...Maryville.

All of our players have 24-ACT minimum and 3.0-GPS minimum. We are a top 25 nationally magnet HS. Our 4 best players are all 2017. we have a 5'9 210lb LHP/1B with a 3.8 and 27-ACT(Won District POY as a Sophomore), we have a 5'7 135lb CF/P( won District POY as a freshman), 5'4 145lb C/2B and a 5'8 155lb 1B. They are all players that have good grades and good stats. I wish it wasn't so difficult. I'll keep on pushing. I really appreciate your time and helpful tips.
With those grades and accomplishments they can play somewhere. Don't rule out JC or NAIA schools. You can get a great education at a NAIA school as most all are private. JC can be a path to a DI school also. Also...with those scores DIII is a good route even though it is nonscholarship. They are very creative in coming up with the money.
