the only thing that i saw was the game. i didn't hear any fans chanting such things as you said. you're just mad because your little trojans got beat by the mighty patriots. face the facts, morr. west is not as good as jeff this year. get over it and move on.

they will be destroyed this week by jeff, who just beat morr. west. but there is a rumor out that scooter and carson will not be able to play next week because of an altercation with a west player. if this holds true, DB will probably win. but that's o.k. DB will have to meet them again in the playoffs. jeff is still a much, much, much better team than DB.

Well I would have always said that Greeneville had the worst sportsmanship but I think Jeff County won that title tonight. Both teams had played a great game and it was such a shame to see it end with not only the Jeff county players on the field but tearing down the banners. Not as bad as Greeneville till I find out that they sent black roses to West and shouted "We want Sanvy". Theno Sanvy was a fine player who died tragically this summer. To do that before a game or at any time, is absolutely the lowest I have experienced in my lifetime. The final outcome of the game at that time was not important. Theno Sanvy has a family, friends and fellow teammates who have his memory held in high regard. I can not believe these people could stoop so low. Jeff County, you may have won the game, but you have no concept of how much you have lost.

dude, your crazy. #98 has the worst sportsmanship of any palyer i have ever seen. he also showed this behavior in the semi finals last yr with maryville. anyways, you are just so jealous of jeff co. your mighty defense couldn't handle scooter and jennings. i beieve they combined for 250 yds. great defense morr. west--awesome! they made you look so weak. jeff will make their 4th championship apperance this year and might just win it; why the cry baby trjoans have yet to make it once. they never have and they never will! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

So if Morristown West gave up 181 points last season and 80 of them was to Maryville, who was on their way to a third straight State Championship, then that means, if my math is correct, they only allowed 101 points in the remaining 11 games?

Well call me crazy, but that is less than 9.5 points per game you dumb son of a b1tch.

I am so tired of this dogging Morristown West stuff when they have beaten every one other than Maryville and they were the last team to do that by the way, and no one gives credit.

But you know what, it doesn't matter becase after Friday night when the Trojans romp the Patriots, no one will be giving credit then either.

It is always the refs that got you beat or some other bull sh!t excuse.

Everyone hates winners, it is just the way it is, but I would rather be a hated winner than a loved loser.

You don't know me but let me introduce myself... my name is Kim, JPATS5 wife. I would think being a so call professional sports writter you would have something better to do with your time. Instead you think just because you are a member of coacht.com that you have the right to belittle my husband because of his personal opinion about a football game. I also enjoy going to these games but you need to think about what you have just done by talking to a member of the public like you have just done. If I was you I believe I would think about it long and hard before you go calling people obscene names over the internet, especially when the other person has not directed any wrongful doing toward you. I believe you owe my husband an apology and it really should be done in person. However, if that cannot take place I will assume there will be an apology said over coacht.com ASAP. As for KevB1990, I also expect you will notify him that he does not need to worry about any brawl at anytime or anyplace. If there is not somekind of apology made soon, you will have to reap the consenquences. Meaning I will pick up the phone and have a talk to your very professional boss.

Regardless of what Barry said to you, I don't think you wanna call him out to dance with you after the game on Friday...and I don't see where he called you out unless it's one of those read between the lines kinda deals

 

I also think that Jeff Co. wins this game like I said earlier, but I hope West wins because of a reason I stated on an earlier post and I shouldn't have to repeat that.

Big Pun, you know that I know that West is the last team to beat Maryville and they know it too. We just have some folks around here that as you said "gives them any credit."

 

Oh yeah...if their does happen to be a brawl after the game (which I seriously doubt) I'll take Campbell to win that.

dude, did your read ctsports post? nobody has ever talked to me or anyone else like that on this board. i know him personally and don't understand why he is being this way. make no mistake, i will deal with him. in my opinion, he doesn't like the fact that jeff is favored to beat west by all the sportswriters in east tn, like the kingsport times, johnson city press, knoxville news sentinel, and even the sportswriters at the tribune. personally, i'm not sure that jeff will win after i watched their practice monday, but i heard they have had some excellent practices since then. anyways, special teams with be the deciding factor in this game.

i tell you what big man since you seem to be a tough guy just say when and where. i've had enough of your mouth. here some facts for you barry campbell: fact, west will never win the state. fact, they are going to get spanked tomorrown night; fact, then i'm going to kick your a.., that's if you have the balls to show your face. fact, then you will go home and cry to mommy.

Lets talk about schools that have a tradition of a winning football program, and fans of schools that don't.

 

Schools like Riverdale, Maryville, Oak Ridge, DB, Cloudland, Brentwood, and many others, that win year end and year out always get a lot of trash talk from the sore losers. After many years of losing to any certain team, some fans try to bring down the winners with rumors & lies. Trying to bring them down to their level instead of spending that energy on improving their own programs.

Everything is fair game, "they got the refs on their side"," they're recruiting our best players"," they're stilling our coaches","their on steriods", "they've got all the money" etc.

This thread is more for those winning programs to defend themselves, and not for more rummors and lies. However Im sure were going to have some of that.

 

So lets have at it !

really not interested. however, if DB is so successful why don't they have a state championship? i'll tell you why--they can't and wont be able ever win the big game, PERIOD. so quit trying to place DB up there with the likes of maryville, riverdale, brentwood a., etc... they don't have it, never have, never will. as for jeff, at least they can say that have made it further than DB. i love it.

hey, who do you all think are a couple of teams in 5a that are creepers. in my opinion, dickson co & gallatin could steal the show this year from the top favorites like riverdale, oak ridge, jeff co, etc... throw your thoughts out there.

jpats5 , your hard to figure , in one breath your slamming the rebels hard , and in the next breath your very complimentary . i talked to one of the MARYVILLE senior football players last night who was one of the stars in the state championship game last year , and i told him about "coach t" and all the things that are constantly brought up by all the MARYVILLE haters out there . he thought it was absolutely hilarious to hear things like " steroid use " . i couldn't believe he had never even been on "coach t" , but he said something like " i'm not gonna listen to any negativity about our program , we're focused on one thing ..... winning " i don't understand why you can't believe these young men can't have the dedication and commitment it takes to have a championship team . you should have seen this kids eyes when i told him he was now a part of the RED REBEL legacy , and no matter what happened , he would always be a champion in all the MARYVILLE fan's eyes !! he wanted to hear all about the championship teams that i was a part of in the late 70's . they may be young , but they've been raised to believe they are winners and part of a great legacy . as an adult ( i assume you are ) i just don't see how you could get on a public forum and try to bash or ridicule or make false accusations about these fine young men who are so dedicated to being the very best they can be . as an adult i can appreciate any football team of fine young men who are dedicated and commited to being the very best that they can be . i totally respect any football team in the state of TENNESSEE, or anywhere for that matter , that plays with pride and commitment . MARYVILLE'S not the only great program in TENNESSEE , theres lots of great programs , RIVERDALE , BRENTWOOD , MBA , CENTRAL , ALCOA , JEFF CO . KINGSPORT DB , OAK RIDGE , etc , etc , etc . your really missing out on something when you can't just watch a team of motivated , dedicated , and proud young men all trying their best for the good of the TEAM, and totally appreciate those young men ...WHETHER IT'S YOUR TEAM OR NOT !!!!.... . NO , IT'S NOT " STEROIDS , OR CHEATING , or anything else you want to use to belittle these young men's effort , it's the total commitment , and dedication to being a part of a winning legacy that was established a long ,long time ago at MARYVILLE HIGH SCHOOL .

dude, i'm not bashing anybody. i just find it so hard to believe with hs kids that any sports program could be so successful year-in-year-out. i'm sure i'm wrong about the supplement abuse (never said they did, just heard stories--rumors; read my original post). but why put me down for being supicious. thomas had a very hard time in believing that Christ had risen from the dead. i know that's a dumb analogy, but anyways maryville is just an unbelievable football team. might i add that most people find it entertaining to watch a powerhouse get knocked off, and i'm looking forward to the day when they finally feel the pain of defeat. remember it's only a sport, no harm.

have you changed your strategy? First Jeff Co was a lock to win it all, now you poor mouth them and brag on Riverdale. No one in M'boro thinks like you do about Lincoln County. They are a good football team, and a program that is well respected by those who know TN high school football.

 

It should be a great game, and I don't see it being a high scoring affair at all. LC has a strong defense, and the Warriors always find a way to keep the other team out of the end zone.

 

Whatever it is you're selling, I ain't buying it.

man, i not trying to sell anything. read my post again! "i don't like riverdale." concerning jeff co i watched them practice the other day and was very dissapointed in their work ethic. they only beat a team 34-10 last week, which they should have won by 50. this should have motivated them but it didn't. maybe they had a bad day monday; i don't know. but if they don't wake up all that talent will go to waste. anyways, i've done my research, and there is no way lincoln co can match-up with riverdale. i've seen these kind of match-ups before. in short, lincoln will be killed by riverdale's quickness and speed. also, i never said lincoln wasn't any good; it's just not a favorable match-up for them. i'm sure they will have a fine season. but i promise you that they are going to get spanked badly, period. in closing, this only a opinion; respect mine, and i will respect yours.

the winners are in red. dude, you pick some tough games. this should really test my knowledge. some of these teams are struggling and they are playing teams like themselves. good job on finding tough games to predict. heck, i'll probably be happy if i get 5-6 of them right, lol.

I think Blackman will keep the game alot closer than everybody thinks.....But they'll still get beat but it won't be a total blowout like 50 - 7, or by 5 touchdows like everyone esle says.

this poll is a big freaking joke. i don't see how riverdale could be the underdog. get real people. i don't like riverdale at all. i'm dying to see someone start putting an end to their streaks. they've been on top way to long; it's time for a change. but it wont happen this friday. there is no way that lincoln county's raggdy offense can score more than 14 against riverdale's well-conditioned, very fast, highly motivated defense. lincoln's offensive line is big and very slow. riverdale's linebackers and strong safety will spend half the night in lincoln's backfield. i promise you that the falcons will have no more than 50 yards rushing and probably no more than 100 passing and half of that will come in the 4th qtr. anyways, many people are going to be very dissapointed for missing the oakland v. franklin game; that one should be a dandy with lots of high scoring, with franklin coming out on top by a td in my opinion. prediction: riverdale 34 lincoln county 7. wake up lincoln fans; it's not going to happen. don't get mad at me for laying out the facts.

hey, talking about a team making drastic improvement it has to be the morristown east hurricanes. i'm predicting them to finish 10-0 (laugh all you want to) and fall to the trojans in the qtr finals. they have good team speed, better than the trojans; they have very good quickness, better than the trojans, especially in the line; they have a big strong, quick qb who has great accuracy and a quick release, better than minnich; they have several good receivers, that are much better than the trojans; they have good quality running backs, that are better than the trojans; they have a great new coach that has the players believing and wanting to play, probably not as good as woods yet; and most importantly they an intense to hunger to win, about the same as west. furthermore, they have a very favorable schedule that is suited for a team that is on the upswing. the only team that is close to their talent is of course morr. west; however, east has a much, much better qb and also a whole lot better wr's, especially #4. they have too many weapons for west to handle, especially in the early season. in the regular season, east 33 west 24. however, i don't believe they can win the big game in the play-offs, not yet. qtr finals--west 20 east 13. but, hey, not even don woods turned west around this fast. in his first year they finished 7-4, right? my hat is off to you morr. east. and the hurricane fan that said he is glad that they are playing jeff this year, i'm not so sure that played in the favor of east because if jeff would have overlooked east in the least bit the hurricanes would have probably pulled off a mild upset on the patriots. congradulations. now, it's time to punish the trojans and take back the city championship; it's very much in your grasp.

How are they going to do this year? they started off kind of slow, but then again they did play two of the state's top contenders. I think with the big win over crockett, they may be able to spark a comeback. it is the region games that get you in the playoffs anyway and they are 1-0 right now. they lack experience and depth as always, but after a couple more games under their belt, the early season gitters will wear off and the exceptional coaching staff will whip them into playoff contenders. You can't keep the Greene Devils down, no matter how far they get pushed down, the spirit will always rise to the top. Remember my words in October cause those devils know how to play and work hard to win.

greeneville has nothing this year. they just took out their frustration on lowly crockett. morr. west, morr. east, volunteer, and cherokee are going to put a whipping on the green devils. ha, they wont be going to the play-offs this year either. oh, it is good to see them have a losing season. they have no class whatsoever, period.

Those boyz aren't even interested in me for about 18 weeks starting in the middle of August.  That is why I have to date some of the county playaz because their season usually doesn't go as long as Maryville's.

hey, you all scrimmaged jeff co about a month ago. in your personal opinion, how good did they look to you, and do they have what it takes to go all the way? your opinion will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Jpat, if you look at our kids, they really aren't that big. Honestly, they are kinda small. Our best offensive linemen last year (John Raulston and Chris Large) were both pretty small compared to Brandon Waters and Division 1 prospect offensive linemen. Really the two were small compared to high school offensive linemen, but they have great technique and thats why they start. So I don't really see steroids being an issue, especially with linemen. Carl Stewart...well I guess its possible, but I don't really know, I never saw him carrying anything resembling steriods or any supplement to that sort. I know some kids at other schools do it, and I think it is their choice, but I haven't seen any kids from Maryville doing it, and I haven't seen any signs of them doing it. I guess you have a good reason to wonder if we do have a lot of kids doing supplements, we have good lineplay, and a lot of well disciplined talent, but really its just old fashioned hard work thats doing it for us. No I don't hate Jeff County for the comment, it was a perfectly good question, he phrased it nicely, and he didn't accuse Maryville of using steroids or supplements, he just asked if Maryville's players did. Really it could be taken as a compliment more than an insult, afterall he has enough respect for us to believe that we are cheating, lol.

well, i guess what makes me wonder is the aggressiveness of maryville's players. i mean everytime that i've watched them their like possessed animals that have the intelligence of einstein. they come at you harder than any other team that i have ever watched in hs football. it's so hard to believe that any coach or program could get this kind of play from kids, especially ever year. anyways, please forgive me for being a little supicious of maryville. i don't like to admit it, but their teams over the last few years have been the best i've ever seen. oh, as for this year, what do you think is maryville's weakness, and do you think central will beat them?

hey, i would like to get your take on who you think would win if riverdale & maryivlle played. me, last year i would have taken maryville; this year riverdale with ease. oh, is anybody looking at #5 for oakland; he looks like he would pretty freaking physical?

ok for all you people that started a week late, and to get in the mix of it as if you have been in the contest 2 weeks yourself, i have come up with a make up segement for the region 4 pickem which allows the people who only have picked the week 2 games to catch on everybody else who has participated since the get go. these that are eligible for the contest are: Jpats5,olineathlete,region4fan,BoroBalla06,splainshornet,ThaOne0,Lucky13k,and Rashard 2k4. deadline is when games start on friday. man i am beginning to think i am becoming to gracious towards late entries into this .anyways, the games for this makeup pickem are as follows:

any chance of the make-up picks staying away from regions 7 & 8? i don't know much about the teams past region 6.
