Get in your feels a little?
Not even alittle. I just don't hide behind a screen name, when I speak my mind. Everybody knows where I stand.

And where’s Barry’s little lap dog Glover?
When I argue with a fool, it only proves that both of us are fools. Real man would stop hiding behind a screen name and speak his mind.

Are all the coaches backing out ??
Only 1 that I have heard. Don't listen to the dirty plaque that continues to run down the program.

Looks like Dyer. He’s a good coach, so I’m in no way knocking the hire. My issue is the entire program is in shambles with Barry and his cronies trying to play AD. Murray got fired because he made someone mad, not because of win/loss; but everyone wants to sweep that under the rug. There’s an 800 pound gorilla in the corner that everyone is ignoring.
So who are these cronies??? Who did Murray make mad??? And you have no clue what you are talking about. You just seem to want to run the program down because you didn't get what you wanted. That seems to be the elephant in the room.

Based on what at thus point??
I agree, Based on what point? Nothing stopping him from running for a school board position. At least I step up to the plate and swing.

I heard 3 of those that interviewed have said “no thank you”. That’s pretty negative itself.
There’s something going on around here that is a bigger issue than the W/L record.
You seem to think you know a whole lot.

Is anyone really interested with the way things are in SC? I heard a few applicants pulled their names... this could get bad.
12 to 14 applied. 5 or 6 interviewed.
Why so negative?

No since daydreaming about consolidation!!! Back to our topic. If I had a choice I would make Gentry say no. He has the name and brings experience to your program that is needed. Your other options would be someone like Dyer or even Frye from Lebanon. Both are Smith County Guys that would love a shot at running the program they grew up in. Neither has been a head coach before that I know of but you got to start somewhere. Frye may have more connections for bringing assistants with him. Dyer is from a coaching family and has done well as an assistant at Macon and Trousdale Counties. His dad was head coach for several years after Rankin and was on his staff when he was here. I'm not sure of anyone else that has applied. I know there was several that applied but I don't have names.

Half of these options are horrible. Although, It makes complete sense that no one would want to coach at SC. Carthage can’t even get former alumni with family in the program to come back and coach. With this new region they should have kept Murray for another year or two because they may have a tough time getting the coach they really want at the moment. I know people in Carthage (Gordonsville people wanted Murray to stay lol) who hated the hire when it happened and were excited when the new regions got released because they thought it would lead to a quicker fire of Murray. But in my opinion with the new regions I don’t see any appeal for anyone wanting to come to Carthage. Whoever mentioned Hackett, Watson, Gentry is just stupid. None of those guys would leave there great jobs, with good talent and better pay to get pounded from the bleachers every game at SC. It just doesn’t make any sense.
However, I did like where someone mentioned SC needs to be playing the local schools like MC, Dekalb, H20, Upperman and Tc every year. The best option for SC is to hope and pray Dyer will take the job otherwise the little talent Carthage has will be going to Gville in the following years.
Maplewood 0-7 this season
East Nashville 5-3 this season
Stratford 2-7 this season
Jackson County 5-5 this season
Smith County 4-7 this season
What am I missing? No powerhouses anymore. East Nashville is still good and will be the favorite next year but is beatable. The gates will suck because none of these teams travel. Thats why you schedule local traveling teams as nonregion games. This is a winnable region for any of these schools that want to step up.

I can get behind most of this, but we have some deeper problems around here than just our coach. Something you said was with a few years... Apparently the way things are currently, you’re not guaranteed a few years if you make the wrong people mad. I’m not sure the type of coach we need is going to be interested knowing how this all went down.
As far as the right leadership, who do you have in mind?
Don't think it had anything to do with making the wrong people mad. Smith County High School is still Smith County High School. It is still the Hole. It is still the Owls. It is still one of the most prestigious and traditional schools in the area. Smith County High School is still here. We just need a leader that will get the kids behind him. A good leader with good coordinators and coaches can bring this sleeping giant back to life. Go Big Owls!!!

Smith County has a very long tradition. I believe with the right leadership and a few years, this program can be back where it was just a few short years ago. This new region we will be in, some look at it and squirm. I look at it as none of those teams are what they use to be. Including Smith County. It is a perfect time for a new person to step in and bring this program back to life. I want to thank Coach Murray for all he did with this program. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the right person is hired for the job and we get back to our winning ways. We are now moved to the west side of the state per T$$AA, so atleast we wouldn't see the recruiting powerhouse from the eastside till the Championship. Lets keep it on the real for now and worry about a new coach and finalize our season for next year. Go Big Owls!!!
