  1. I just wanted to let everyone know what an honor it's been for me to have been able to coach Tyson Stover. Tyson played for me in 8th grade at Allons Elementary and again at Livingston Academy as a junior and senior. Tyson was our lone senior this season and did an amazing job leading us to the region semis. He is a well rounded young man with a good head on his shoulders and turned himself into a real team leader and captain this season. Tyson will be a successful person in whatever he chooses to do. And yes, the art of taking a charge should be renamed after him. Tyson, thanks for all your hard work and dedication. You've always showed a lot of class in victory and defeat. It's been my pleasure. 2. I think both days were very successful for everyone involved. I saw some good boys and girls teams and some pretty good individual talent. Everything went smoothly and I heard a lot of positive feedback. Next year's jamboree will be even better. Good luck to all teams who attended and I hope to see you back next year.
  3. It was supposed to be Cornerstone, but they can't come that day.....something about a UT football game. So I've got to find someone to fill that spot.

  9. Is Liberty moving to AAA this year or are they staying AA?
  10. Yes. White House girls dropped. I know Coach McWilliams would like to get another team. So, if anyone wants in, let us know.
  11. I think so. 2p.m. - Upperman vs. White House girls 3:30 - Upperman vs. White House boys 5p.m. - LA vs. Loudon girls 6:30 - LA vs. Loudon boys The times are still tentative but will probably remain like this.
  12. Austin East. There was a time conflict, I think.
  13. I think it will be Upperman vs. White House girls and boys, then LA vs ? girls and boys. Game times should be 2:00, 3:30, 5:00, and 6:30.
  14. Livingston Academy is looking for a Hall of Fame opponent for boys and girls. The game would be played at Upperman High School on Saturday, Nov. 18. A fourth team would complete a field including Upperman, White House, and LA. Anyone interested should call Richard Melton at LA at 931-823-5458.
  15. On October 20 & 21, Livingston Academy will host a middle school jamboree for 7th and 8th grade teams. It will include girls and boys teams, will be played in multiple gyms, and teams will receive team packets. We look forward to everyone having a great experience. It seems that junior high and middle school teams don't get enough preseason experience. Maybe this will help. Invitations are being sent now. If you want your team to come or more information, call Coach Melton at 931-823-5458.
  16. The dates for the jamboree have been tentatively set for October 20 and 21. We will be using multiple gyms. Teams will receive team packets, and will be able to play one, two, three, or four games. Looks like this could be good for everyone involved. Invitations are being mailed now, but if you don't get one and want to come, just call.
  17. Just wandering who is planning on having playdays this preseason. Is Shelbyville having theirs again? Who else? Any in east or west Tennessee?
  18. I know that most junior high teams begin regular schedules on or after Oct. 15th and most would be interested to see how their teams stack up in preseason. I'd like to get teams from Overton, Pickett, Putnam, White, Jackson, Fentress, Clay, and Cumberland Counties. Others would be welcomed as well. Let me know if you want in. 931-823-5458
  19. Livingston Academy is going to Martin Westview June 1st & 2nd, Wilson Central June 8-10, and Lenoir City July 17-19.

  21. I'd like to add my congratulations on a fine season, especially to Casey Ferrell. You played as hard as you did in junior high school. I'm proud of you. Coach Melton, LA
  22. Hey guys. This is 'Pat Riley' himself. I just wanted to say congratulations to the coaches and players at Goodpasture on a well-played game. You deserved to win and we here at LA wish you the best of luck. You guys were a class act and won with the same class you played with. Our season ended a little earlier than we wanted and expected, but as I told a tearful group of young men afterwards, GOD has a plan for us and we need to try to just enjoy the ride. As I never give them what they want but don't need, I won't address people like Tennisguy personally. However, I'm always looking to get better and improve and everyone can count on the fact that LA will work as hard as anyone else if not harder to be successful. Oddly enough, I agree that we need to improve everything about our game. We'll definitely work on some if not all of these things. Experience is the best teacher and we are trying to learn from our mistakes everyday, every practice, every game. I for one will be the first to admit I am not the best around, but I'll try to find a way to outwork everyone else and NO ONE cares more about his players than I do. So I take everything that Tennisguy says as a complete compliment to our program here at Livingston Academy. The rest of this is for my players, (especially the seniors): YOU are exactly what our program here at LA is about. Words can't express the gratitude and compassion I have for all of you. You seniors have led the others to make this the BEST first year any coach could have. You all are a class act and I am honored for you to call me "Coach". You know you have my respect, but here's proof you've gained the respect from others outside of LA. Seniors, thanks for the ride and I'll always be here for you if you need anything and will always be your #1 fan. Underclassmen, get ready to work. Thanks, too, to LA fans for all your support. There's not a better place to be. Lastly, thanks to Coach McCoin for all of his support. He's been one of our biggest fans all season. He's a great person and good friend. Just one more classy person at Livingston Academy.
