  1. CBHS lost 10 seniors from last year. 7 were starters. Plus one other soph. starter who transferred to Germantown-Houston. They are always tough but they will be challenged this year to replace so many players on the field. Ridgeway will be a better team this year than last year. They have some of the best seniors in Memphis. They will surprise many. I picked FRA to win it all last year but the best teams don't always make it to the finals at state.
  2. Tough call to predict this year. A/AA Chattanooga Christian over Lenior City DII Knoxville Catholic over MUS AAA Farragut over Ridgeway
  3. MUS CBHS Ridgeway Collierville ECS Houston Briarcrest Germantown White Station Bartlett / Cordova
  4. Great post, FeverCoach,, great points... Fever are always a quality program and tough competition... Good luck in state
  5. The Center in the CBHS/Catholic game never moved+/- 10 yards from the centerline 90% of the game is what I think you are refering to. He was literally a "Center" Referee and utilized his AR's to the upmost. He was not in good position most of the game. In fairness to him, he appeared to be injured in one leg.
  6. MFCHUMP83, don't be talkn bout my man Nolo or I have to cut you again man....
  7. I really don't know. It just seems that there are only enough DI players in Memphis to form about 2 1/2 teams at the older ages. This means 1 of the 3 teams doesn't survive at the D1 level as they lose games badly which leads to not being invited back to tournaments and player moral drops and parents complain and some better players finally leave for the one of the other better teams which kills the weakest team. I guess it is survival of the fittest at this age.
  8. The answer to the quiz is Dragons .. The Dragons88 were improved this weekend from the fall.. they beat us easily.. Props to the Dragons88 for winning the bracket...
  9. Seldon, Bearden destroyed Ridgeway in OT, right.. How did CBHS do?? .. 5-0.. Same argument, same question. No solution unless the teams actually play each other. My observation of Bearden and Farragut was that Farragut was the stronger team. Bearden's skill level at some positions was lacking. In my opinion, Farragut deserves props for their top ranking, it just seems everyone dumps on DII unfairly. DII has a strong group of about 12 teams that will battle anyone during state. Next year, Knoxville Catholic will be the same team one year older and I am glad I am graduated and won't have to play them next year.. They will be ranked nationally next year and Bearden and Farragut will have their hands full with KCHS if they play each other.
  10. Dale10, When Bearden played CBHS in 2002 - CBHS had no seniors that day due to exams. But no excuses, Bearden was the best team last year.. just don't think this is the way to determine strength this year. I saw the Bearden/Farragut final this year and I am very confident both teams would have had trouble with us. I am impressed with Bearden and Farragut as well. I think the final NSCAA rankings with be a good objective rating of all three. As of May 19th, Farragut was # 2 and CBHS was ranked # 10 Nationally for the Spring 2003 season. Bearden was not listed ..in error it seems to me as their only losses were to Farragut. Bearden should be listed by the June final ranking since they made to the finals again. Studentsports will have a final ranking as well and I expect Farragut, Bearden, and CBHS to be in the Top 15 at least. One other thing, 7 of the CBHS seniors played club together and after we won the Region III Super Y - we beat teams like the Houston Texans, Dallas Texans, Solar, and others who were all skilled and much larger players physically who told us they thought they would easily defeat us looking at our small team but they were sadly mistaken. And David slayed Goliath with a pebble.
  11. Ausdan, CBHS and MUS use their football fields for their Regular season games. Briarcrest uses their own soccer fields also. I personally enjoy the school atmospheres and fields better also. But I will say that the Stadium Field is the finest around and is fine for the Final game. Also, I did not like everyone playing at the same time. I wanted to see Farragut and Bearden but most of the games are at the same time. Another problem was no one behind the goals to snag balls. This costs teams too much time. I know the Memphis Sports Authority just said they would address the scoreboards but they said the non-stadiium fields suffered due to all the rain. Actually it has more to do with too much play. I would prefer the quarterfinals be played at higher ranked school's home field, then go to Memphis and have semi-s and final at Stadium field. Then 4 teams could experience the Stadium. Maybe someone will read this!! If nothing else, maybe the Quarterfinals could be played at Briarcrest, CBHS, or MUS and then the Semi's and Final at the Stadium as a compromise. Briarcrest has the best soccer field with working clock and beautiful campus atmosphere of the school fields in Memphis.
  12. Tackerdad is right on... I played MFC 85 and as we hit U16-U17 we slowly started breaking up. I was lured to Fury 85-played one state tourney and they breakup. Only room for 2 D-I teams in Memphis at U16-18. My brother plays for Fury88(U-15), they are part D-I,part D-II, and 4 U-14's combined just to have a team. They will not survive another year as they cannot compete like this. My brother will need to try for the Dragons88 or he will have no team in a year. That's just the way it is in Memphis. Dragons are the only club that keeps MFC from a monopoly here.
  13. We traveled from Memphis to Chattnooga for last three years. It is tough and to have to stay from Tuesday to Sunday is tough also. I am glad for my home city but State needs to eventually be in Middle Tenn. near I-40 for and consideration for family should be priority over $$$. My piece
  14. Nolan, see you at tryouts- Todd!!
  15. My mom told me that she went to the announcers box (enclosed at corner of stadium field and that they were filming each final from that enclosed box for the schools. That's all I know on that ...You will enjoy it, it was a great game, I watched it after my game. Could have gone either way.
  16. Irish17, CBHS controlled the possesion the entire game. Someone thought CBHS had as many as 30 shots on goal. Many misses and many great saves by the MUS goalie(He is really good). MUS sweeper told me they played a strong defensive set as they felt it was the only way to stay close and they did. Game was 0-0 at half. CBHS scored first on assist from Kraus along endline to Phillip Ramsey(cross past keep to far post). MUS tied on a long ball in the air that was mishandled by CBHS and MUS slotted it in. CBHS appeared to score again when MUS goalie could not control one shot and he was on the groud with the ball loose but between his feet. Kraus kicked the ball into the goal but the AR told the Center goalie had possesion. At the end of regulation, Bogan of CBHS shot with less than 5 seconds on the clock and the ball deflected off the post. In overtime CBHS attacked and MUS played long ball. It took to the second overtime before Matt Bogan connected to score the 2nd goal, then Eric Evans scored on a breakaway pass from Whitsitt thru 3 defenders to finish the game at 3-1. Great game to play in. MUS Coach and CBHS Coach play PDL league together and they know each others game very well. By the way, Farragut/ Bearden game was 2 ot's as well with Farragut going ahead on PK due to #17 for Bearden called for a handball in the box. Farragut scored quickly again while Bearden was still fuming over the PK. Great teams also. Regards,
  17. I haven't seen all the teams because we all played at the same time mostly but Kane Albers# 5 Outside Mid and Ben Tacker(Goalie) I thought were the best MUS players.
  18. Countrypk, it's not a lovefest- it's just respect- try it sometime. Pope loves it!! Irish17, you guys up front have the quickest counterattack we have played this year. The game is played more between the ears at the highest level and your team has that. It will carry your in the future. Good luck and God bless Countrypk.
  19. wmsmphs is me, my brother, and my dad sometimes. One is at CBHS and one is at White Station.
  20. mrh11 and Ausdan, big compliments, thanks Good luck Guys,
  21. Nolan, I played with you from age 7 to 10. I made a big mistake leaving your team. Your the man.. I used to play goalie with you back in the good ole days. You will see me around again. Dude
  22. WesVols, you need to play the stockmarket or gamble with predictions like this!!! Great job.
  23. The 88 Dragon player is Nolan Chantara and he is Chinese and Thai background. His brother Nate just signed with Christian Brothers Univ. and his older brother Nick plays for Christian Brothers Univ. His father is a Dragon Coach and I think former ODP coach. Nolan is the best player in Memphis at his age in my opinion. I don't know what happened to the Dragons88, hope they can get it back together.
  24. Irish17 and Sauza, I was the guy who scored the first goal for CBHS. I told you before I was impressed with your team. Your team reminds me of our team but slightly younger. I am moving on to Harrogate after finals to the next level. CBHS has big senior class leaving. I think Catholic will be back next year and I really believe you will be the favorite to win state next year. Keep your heads up, but I had a feeling you guys would make a run and you did make a great run indeed. Nothing to be ashamed of.. # 2 bro Whoever the guy is who took your free kicks has a rocket leg!! He was awesome.
  25. I don't know about MUS but CBHS's schedule is misleading as the best competition they played all year was out of state. They beat Edmond North Oklahoma 3-0 who was a quarterfinalist in OK 5A and ranked as high as 19th nationally, They beat Tulsa Union Oklahoma who was also a quarterfinalist in OK 5A and rank top 50 nationally, and their lone loss was to Edmond Memorial in OT who beat Broken Arrow OK in the class 5A OK Semifinals last week. Broken Arrow was ranked right behind Farragut at # 3 until the loss. Edmond Memorial was ranked as high as 5th nationally this year. CBHS was disappointed with their in state schedule but I think it had more to do I think with a coaching change and losing some coaching ties to play each other. They spent too many games passing with big leads to keep scores down. The best teams should play each other.
