  1. Well, I'm from Summertown, and I just gained a lot of respect for the guys from Greenfield. I guess If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, so I'll be cheering for ya. Good Luck. #20
  2. Summertown and Perry County did not actually scrimmage yesterday, it was more of a joint practice. Each team traveled to Allen Arena, a bigger gym which has a backdrop more like MTSU's. Anyone that does most of their playing in a small gym will tell you that the goal seems a little different in a place like the Murphey Center. I was told by some of the boys that it was mostly a normal practice except the two teams combined in the drills and while doing several different situations, (each team playing different roles). To me, this seems like it made a boring, everyday practice and turned it into a competitive, upbeat workout. I mean, think about it - instead of playing Their JV˜s˜ PC gets to practice against a tough S˜town team (the only SingleA team to beat them) and S˜town gets to battle against PC (the #1 ranked singleA team, a team that has made them better each time they˜ve played). In my opinion playing with great teams is one of the best ways of making your team better. I believe these 2 teams will be well represented in the tourney because of the hard work, dedication, and just flat out doing what it takes to win. District 12A is WELL REPRESENTED Can˜t wait till Wed. Good Luck
  3. Beck and every other person out there who is wondering what JameyRussel is thinking, coming on here and hyping up S'town (when it isnt even a thread about them), I would like to speak on behalf of about 99 percent of summetown when i apologize for his actions. I, like every other person from s'town really do try and support my team, but please take into consideration that JameyRussel is not a TRUE fan of our basktball program. He is one who has "jumped on the bandwagon" so to speak since things have started getting interesting. He is not aware of the tradition involved in highschool bball and therefore is blinded by such matters as sportsmanship or knowing when speak out on certain matters. As u can tell, he has only posted 4 messages, so this is all new to him. Again, please dont think everyone from S'town is as arrogant as him. Good Luck Perry County....

  5. I, like the last post do not know about both teams, only Summertown. Being a fan of 12A basketball all I can tell you is they don˜t change much of anything for any one opponent. Summertown is more worried about doing what they do to the best of their abilities. Coming from 12A Summertown is very physical and is not afraid to make it a rough game, if that is what is necessary to win, however, as NCS found out˜ they can shoot it from anywhere on the court. Like I said, I don˜t know much about Greenfield except ive heard they play with a lot of emotion and heart, and if that is the case then I know one thing. ˜ This is going to be one heck of a hard fought game. This late in the year EVERY team is good. No matter what their record may say, it takes a lot of toughness to get this far (as most people know). Every team should consider themselves winners. GOOD LUCK to Perry County also!!! everyone in 12A is pulling for us and you know they would all like to see us in the finals one last time. !!!!!!!GOOD LUCK SUMMERTOWN EAGLES!!!!!!
  6. These are the ones I can remember: All Season: Gray, Rhodes, Jackson from PC i think and Chase Richardson District MVP. Carter and Hutcherson From Santa Fe, can't remember the other. White, James, and Bergin from Summertown. J.D. Byrd, and Brad Miller from WC. The Bryant kid from Collinwood. Anderson from CA. The point guard from Zion. Sorry, but that's all I can remember.
  7. Big48Eagle, yes you are right about each being a contender. I thought about it and each team is very versatile in their attack towards the basket. Yes, both teams shoot the 3 very well and of course, if they are falling that is probably going to be your first option (besides an easy lay-up). But, if for some reason the ball can˜t find the hoop then each team can burn you with pushing it up the floor or pounding it inside with their big men. (perry co.- Richardson, s˜town- James). I for one feel this is the reason each team can be so dangerous in these final weeks, because you never can pin-point one area of their great play and stop it˜ they will just beat you with something else. Anyways, I hope this helps you, and come watch them play in the region, you˜ll be impressed. Good Luck 2 both tonight
  8. Hey CoachT Why isn't this game on the "Big Ones" list?? It seems like this is a pretty important game between to very good teams.
  9. Well, obviously up there in Lewis County you don't have the best english teachers.
  10. This isn't the first time this year that Perry County has slipped through with help from the stripes, Home or Away. Hopefully this won't carry into the tournaments.
  11. Well sandlotjunkie..... u state the summertown always complains about calls, when things dont go there way. Well, that isn't true. Sure, you're gonna have the few fans that will always yell at the refs and make a scene... but thats what a fan does, supports his or her team all the time. You can˜t knock them for standing behind there team through games like this. Now the players and coaches on the other hand know not all calls are gonna go in there favor and have come to accept it (how else could u play in this league). But what the players and coach cannot accept is when a Ref decides to take a game into his or her hands... I bet it really its really hard to swallow that loss, when both teams played their hearts out and made it a classic Perry Co. vs. Summertown matchup˜. The refs have to ruin it all by picking their favorite team to be the victors˜ Its not hard to see that most refs hate Summertown ˜ it˜s a vicious cycle˜ refs make a horrible call.. everyone jumps on their backs, so from then on all the calls will ˜accidently˜ fall to the opposing team ˜ and then we start all over again Now, I know nothing is going to change this outcome, but everyone knows that Summertown is for real and is gonna be there to mess up all of Perry Co. plans in the tournaments˜. The scary thing is, they know it also. You˜re gonna be in the back of their heads from now on, So keep up the hard work S˜town, if Perry Co. is ˜#1˜ then I think you˜ve just earned a little bit of respect from all teams.
  12. Hey to all. This should be an exciting game, to say the least, if its anything like the first one. These teams always play there best against each other. Perry Co. edged the Eagles out in the first one in overtime, but the Eagles had many chances to win it. I just wanted to know what everyone thought about this one. It could carry lots of momentum into the post season for either team....
  13. The Wildcats from Wayne Co. get on here talking more trash than any team in the state.
  14. just like lawco, coming on here talking junk about the lions being "unbeatable in district play", in case you didn't notice, Y'ALL LOST, and columbia is undefeated in district play!! and cryin bout the posession arrow when the first half started off with the fouls columbia 7 to lawco's 1...... and the second half something like columbia 5 to lawco 1... officiating was a joke, and wadale killed y'all with some joker in his face the whole game, and the stripes on his, and all his teammates backs. [Edited by fortherecord on 1-19-03 1:33A]

  16. Giles County doesn't have enough discipline to win their DOUBLE A district, but they handled a supposedly good TRIPLE A team that was even trying to injure their best player? Word's out, even with tears in their eyes Giles Co. can beat Lawrence Co. Same ole story at Lawrence County, talking smack even when they can't win. [Edited by fortherecord on 11-28-02 5:15P]
  17. I may be mistaken, but it seems like Lawrence County High won the A.F. Bridges award a couple of years ago. At the time, I thought it was a joke. Of course, they did have some players with class back then.
  18. no, it was 93, i was there, one of the bench players for s'town hit a fade away three at the buzzer to make it 93, and jamar played very very well
  19. gomab, it sounds to me like you're not giving s'town the credit they deserve. the officiating was lopsided...? is it possible that maybe the kids from forrest just fouled more than the s'town boys? and.... forrest never battled back from 25 down, it was 15-18 maybe... jenkins was amazing though
  20. The Kid's name is Jemarcus Webster (I'm not sure that's spelled right) If I'm not mistaken, he's just a sophomore, and about 6'3" or so. Word has it Mt. P. scrimmaged Lawrence County the other day and he dunked on them twice.
