  1. Capt.Truth -- If you want to argue with catfish-hunter about Cheatham Co. teams, why don't you start a separate thread about it and see if anyone else cares. You come across as a derelict. Whether you like it or not (obviously you do not) catfish has much more credibility on this website than you do. I, unlike you, have seen all 13 games for Lipscomb so far this year. Cheatham Co. is easily the best team we have played this year. Their defense is far better than anyone else we played. Please go back where you came from and inhale some more. To repeat, start your own thread. I think even a person of your limited capabilities could figure that out.
  2. I thought the guy you are talking about quarterbacked the very first series. I remember a very little guy that would have trouble seeing over the line at quarterback. Then the bigger kid with the hurt knee came in. Was I seeing things?
  3. Well, footballchick was right on this one. There was a lot more red there than purple and gold. Unfortunately for her, that has nothing to do with who wins a game. Congratulations to Lexington on a great year. Going undefeated in a regular season is so difficult to do. Hope your #4 is OK this morning and everyone got home safe to west Tennessee. I stick by my statement in another thread. Cheatham Co. is still the best team we have seen in 13 weeks.
  4. In summary, absolute total domination by Lipscomb. Final score was 28-0. Lipscomb got opening kickoff and drove down for a touchdown in about seven minutes. Lexington was put out of their comfort zone as they could not run on Lipscomb at all. My guess is they have not seen any defense like that. They probably did not run for 50 yards in the whole game. 4 nor 24 could run on Lipscomb at all. Lexington had to resort to throwing the ball the whole second half what little that had the ball. Not Lexington's fault; but, their soft schedule caught up with them tonight. Hope #4 for Lexington is OK. Had to leave game late in second quarter with concussion when Lipscomb quarterback ran over him on a tackle. Also, Lipscomb tailback broke wrist second play of the game and never came back. Bring on Covington.
  5. The team that wins this game may be the team that handles the weather the best. Currently predicting 26 degress for Friday night in Nashville.
  6. Why is it that we are now a power team with no speed? Our speed was more than enough to shut down thousand yard rushers from Creek Wood and Cheatham. We were roughly the same size as Cheatham Co. and probably bigger than Montgomery Central. Everybody else we played was bigger as a team than we were. Goodpasture dwarfed us and had the best high school lineman I've seen in several years. Power team????
  7. What a great game. It is so much more fun to have a game in doubt in the fourth quarter than it is to be up four touchdowns in the first quarter (week 1 of playoffs). Cheatham Co. is such an outstanding opponent. Well coached and athletic. Defense was special. Games like this are what high school football is supposed to be about. Hope the quarterback was not hurt too badly on that last play. Congratulations to Cheatham Co. on a great year. You are definitely the best team we have played so far this year. Your senior class were great leaders for four years. We look forward to a road-trip up to Ashland City next year.
  8. The mustang nation appreciates the kind words catfish. He is a very deserving kid. It could just as easily have been Clint Casteel getting these accolades.
  9. Well it's finally game day. I have known in my mind since week 4 that to move on we would have to beat Cheatham Co a second time. I actually figured it would be in week 3 of the playoffs. Did not count on Cheatham getting upset by Creek Wood. It is so difficult to beat a good team twice in a season. There are only so many game plans that can be put together to work on a given team. I have great respect for the defense and the coaching that the Cubs have. They run sideline-to-sideline as good as anybody we have seen all year. Better than most. We probably won't get four turnovers this time around. I will not predict a score for this one. I expect it to be close and low scoring. May the better team win. Hopefully, the team that wins this one will get to Murfreesboro from the western part of the state. Have a safe trip down all you Cub fans.
  10. What has changed so dramatically since October 14 that would lead anyone to believe this will be anything other than Fulton romp? I'm new to 3A and from midstate so I don't profess to understand. Everything I've seen in print and stats points to Fulton in Murfreesboro. Somebody help me here.
  11. Well said maximus. Bulldog seems to know football; but, is a bitter guy who seems to see better with his heart than with his eyes.
  12. bigredtiger - Whether you like it or not, catfish-hunters statistics from the past illustrate a very good point. You are not greatly respected as a team in middle TN for exactly the statistics he points out. You could go a long way toward changing that by doing better. You earn respect; and, Lexington has not as of yet. You may very well beat MC this year. However, they finished fourth up here and got killed by two of the region 5 teams. If you want to prove something, beat Creek Wood in round 2 and then the Cheatham/Lipscomb winner in round 3. Best of luck!
  13. Surprised we haven't seen a thread on this game. I know Liberty is a relatively new school and I know nothing about them. Cheatham has very good defense and a grind in out offense. What about Liberty? Catfish - you probably know more than most on this subject. What do you think? My guess is we see you guys again next week in Nashville.
  14. Congratulations to East Robertson on your region championship. You just shot a hole in the publics can't beat the privates debate. Good for you. No problem in this game. East by at least 4 touchdowns.
  15. This is not even a game. Within 35 points would shock me. Why was this even scheduled?
  16. If you honestly believe Creek Wood will not lose again this year, then you have obviously inhaled. It is much better to see with your eyes than with your heart. You may think you want to see Lipscomb in the playoffs; but, you don't really want that. We don't know if we are good enough to get to the third round where we would see you at Lipscomb. You don't know if you are good enough to get to that point either. The problem being neither of us has ever been in the 3A playoffs. I do know this though, Creek Wood is not up to beating Lipscomb without us contributing help in the form of self-inflicted turnovers or penalties. You must not have been at the game when we played each other.
  17. turtle - Did you stop to think that maybe the problem last week was the dline they were going up against? Just a thought. I still say Cheatham Co. in a low scoring close game.
  18. This game should be interesting. It has potential to be a really good game for the fans. From what I have seen, Creek Wood's offense is slightly better and Cheatham Co.'s defense is better. Special teams will play a large part in this one. In a close game, I have to favor the better defense. Cheatham Co. 13 and Creek Wood 9.
  19. turtle - I was there. You guys have a beautiful new place and a great atmosphere. I love making the trip down to Dickson County (although it usually involves golf). Game went sort of like I expected. That's means nothing bad against CW. It's just we've been in this position so many times. This team has played in 44 games the last three years for a good reason. Our defense is really good, I wasn't kidding about that. There were certain comparisons I made from other games and knew is was going to be rough on you guys offensively. Our linebackers are an especially good group. One of them was even hurt and did not play last night, 55 usually starts where 35 was. For a third year program, you guys should be very proud of what you have done. Keep up the good work and shoot for a first round home playoff game. Your task next week is formidable though. Good luck.
  20. I predicted Lipscomb 24-6 and I was too low. Final is Lipscomb 37-7. It was not close. Turtle - Do you understand what real run defense is now? With 6 or so minutes left you might have had 20 yards on the ground. Just a little too much experience on the other side. Your next opponent's defense is not too far behind Lipscomb's. Great new facilities at Creek Wood and a very hospitable atmosphere. The future there seems very bright. Good luck next week and the rest of the year. Win one next week and you will probably host a first round game. That would be very impressive for a third year varsity program.
  21. turtle - I am sure Creek Wood defense has been good this year. However, you are playing a different caliber team this week than prior weeks. An estimated 24 points by DL is giving CW credit for having good defense. Things are just different for you guys the next two weeks in a row. I will be surprised if CW can run the ball substantially on DL. They average giving up about 2.8 yards per carry for the year. We held kid from Page to 77 yards. This includes giving up a 55 yard run with a minute left when we were in a prevent defense expecting passes. Big runner from Goodpasture was held under 20 yards. All Cheatham's backs together probably did not hit 100 yards. I could be wrong and if I am you will see make give CW a lot of credit on here Saturday morning. What is your seating situation there? Will an early arrival be prudent? What is the restaurant situation around area? Best of luck and may the better team win!
  22. I just can't see this being all that close of a game. Sure Creek Wood is 6-0; but, have played a soft schedule (not their fault). Any of the teams they have played would be better in a given year but are down this year. Sycamore and Marshall Co. are the best teams they have played (each is 3-4). Nobody with a winning record. Definitely have not played anyone like Greenbrier or especially Cheatham Co and Goodpasture. Have been watching their statistics this year. Do not appear to be great throwing the ball and I don't think they can run enough on Lipscomb to win. While our offense is still a work in progress, it has been adequate enough to beat the two best teams we have played. Seems to me CW will need some help from Lipscomb to win (penalties and at least 3 turnovers). I could be wrong; and, if I am will back on Saturday morning with kudos praising Creek Wood. My prediction is Lipscomb 24 - Creek Wood 6.
  23. I hear open enrollment helps quite a bit.
  24. How good a game will this be? Creek Wood has started great, albeit with a somewhat lightweight schedule. Things get a little nastier for them for the next few weeks. Will they be able to slow the kid from Page down any better than Marshall Co did? Page has been very up and down. A week off should have helped them to prepare. Who wins this one? What are the keys for each team?
  25. curious the pick for seven points was right on. GP could not run on Lipscomb except when then went up the gut. They were far bigger. No real offensivie continuity for GP at all. They were up 7-3 at half. GP returned the second half kickoff to Lipscomb 20 or so. Had it first and goal at Lipscomb 5. Fumbled next play. Lipscomb eventually reeled off three touchdowns and mercifully kneeled down when they could have made it four. Final Lipscomb 24 GP 7
