  1. Antwan, There are some very good coaches in the public school ranks. Names like Fitzgerald, Quarles, Anderson, and Rankin come to mind to name a few. They are solid coaches with strong pedigrees; however, Brentwood Academy and MBA not only have head coaches with great credentials, but they also have fantastic position coaches. One of the things that I admire most about the MBA staff is the fact that they adapt very well to their personnel. In addition, they never think that they know everything; they constantly are in search of new schemes and continue to review and critique their existing ones. The biggest problem I see with Rutledge's staff going to a public school would be not knowing the make-up of the student body. At MBA, he is blessed to have a very respectful and dutiful student body. I am in no way saying that there are not public school student bodies that have the same strengths; I am just saying that at MBA, the kids have no other choice. If they are not, they don't stay in school there. The result is a fantastic group of young men willing to learn and work their butts off. Yes, they have solid talent, but I have seen some Melrose teams that have tons of more talent than MBA had this year. What I do not know is how a Rutledge staff would do there. It scares me to think what Rutledge could do with a Lincoln County or Dobyns Bennett. I wish yuou well. FlyBy
  2. Reb, Are Conservatives allowed to support your Rebels?
  3. So what you are saying is the reason BA (with 300 students) wins is because of the coaching staff. If that were true...then their coaching staff could take over at Clay County...and in a couple of years...they could beat Riverdale. Is that what you are saying? They could not only beat Riverdale...they could consistently beat them. Antwan, Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Their coaching staff is that good.
  4. Itzme, That was a compliment to Brentwood and its history of putting a high quality product on the field, a proud history that remains strong. We can use MBA, McCallie, Christian Brothers, or whomever you like. We are not the "big bad Bully" but rather the well coached over-achievers. Roll Red Roll
  5. Without a doubt he is the right man. Although I heard that Gee is considering replacing him with a physics professor so that the players can continue their student activities while on the field against Georgia and Tennessee.
  6. Having recently accepted the job as President of the new Tennessee High School Football League that I offered myself, my first action is to create 4 divisions of football. The divisions will be created based on number of students at each school. Any school has the ability to play up, but none can play down a division. All Private schools that offer financial aid must play at the D4 level, no questions. If you have a problem with another coach or team, beat them on the field; do not call me and whine about it. If you don't like it that Brentwood Academy kicks your tail, then coach your kids better and teach them better like they do. Roll Red Roll

Black and Gold, That is not worth a comment; your team had a great year.
  8. It certainly has been a great year for football in the midstate. Division II teams have wrapped up their seasons, but it doesn't have to end just yet for MBA, BGA, and BA fans. As a Williamson County boy, I'd love to see an overflow crowd supporting the Rebels like a lot of us did BHS last year. They are playing Germantown; and last time I checked, there has never been any love lost between Germantown and the likes of MBA and BA. Therefore, let's go get behind the Rebs next week. Keep making the midstate proud, Franklin! Roll Rebels Roll!

Wes, That is not the last time that I'll disappoint you. I am human, last time I checked. It is what it is. I am not upset with you at all. Congrats yet again to both programs.

Itzme, "As for the players on the field there was nothing but class and dignity on both sides. Exactly what I love about DII football. We'll play MBA antime, anywhere in anything, and I guarantee you it will be at a high level and very respectful on the field. We fans in the stands are at best a sideshow...the real winners are on both sides of the field...especiallly on MBA's side tonight!!" Very Well Said! Congrats again!!!!!!!

Dan, You said "I will never forget about how Coach Moore was treated...no one at MBA will. I am still hot about it. Wes, give me a break, about students taunting. The holier than though attitude from a lot of BA people I know makes me want to puke. This was a great win by MBA. " Amen, Amen, AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!! Wes, Most of us are tired of compliments like "great game" always followed by a jab from Brentwood people. There are plenty of fine gentlemen that attend schools everywhere; they are not all at Brentwood. Believe it or not, MBA and Brentwood students are not special; they just have a special opportunity to be at special schools. The "Excuses, Excuses" banner proudly displayed in your student section showed a complete lack of class on your institution's behalf. I am shocked that Masters allowed it to stay up. Your boys had a great season by anyone's standards. Congratulations Brentwood on yet another excellent year.
  12. Congratulations to both MBA and Brentwood on great seasons. The boys on The Hill were fantastic tonight. Brentwood had no answer to stopping the MBA offense tonight. Way to go Big Red! Itzme, Sorry for my tardiness in my reply for you; I have been out of town working all week. There may be younger MBA folks that look to this as their biggest rivalry, but Ryan will always be mine. This season was very special for both teams. Let us all not forget that it is and always will be about the kids. Roll Red Roll!
  13. Well "FLIP", you guys are making it seem like this is the second coming and Jesus and Satan are going to square off on Saturday night. Thoughts..... On Rivalry: Yes, I would consider this a rivalry game. Even though MBA is Brentwood's biggest rival, those of us that have been around to enjoy the history of MBA football still look to the Irish as our biggest rival. Yes, I know that Ryan has taken a step or two back, but it is still my favorite game of the year. Don't get me wrong, I still love to watch the boys on the Hill square off against Brentwood, but I do not consider them our biggest rival. This matchup: It will be very interesting to watch how both teams respond. Coach Flatt called one of his best games that I have seen him call in the last meeting. I am sure that he will call another great game Saturday night. MBA played a solid game as well last time, but made critical errors at critical moments of the contest. I think this contest comes down to the basic two factors of most wins: establishing the run game and turnovers. In addition, a huge contributing factor will be whichever team is looser at game time. I have seen Brentwood teams and coaches in the past be very uptight when playing MBA. I think that Brentwood will be too strong up front and establish the run early. If that happens, it will be a long night for the Big Red. MBA can win if they play smarter and execute their game plan. In case your wondering, my money is on Jesus when the afore-mentioned battle takes place.

    Ba-CBHS

My money is on Brentwood. It is hard to beat a Carlton Flatt team twice in a year, especially when they don't turn it over 6 times again. Good Luck Eagles!

    BA-MBA Updates

This thread needs to end now. Hopefully, both teams will take care of business in 2 weeks so that we can all see a rematch for all of the marbles. To MBA, yes the clock was at 0; however, you had a chance to put it away and you didn't. Learn from this experience, it will prepare you for life; it is not the last time in your life you will get a bad call or 3. Live with it and come out and play with a chip on your shoulder. Brentwood, you played a great game, congratulations. Now, redeem yourselves against CBHS, so we can see a rematch. To the poster who commented negatively about "Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete", before you judge another, look at your "triangle" and tell me just which side your comment goes on. DO NOT discredit your school by sounding like an arrogant winner. And MBA, lose with dignity; it is easy to win with class, but very difficult to lose with class. Football is the greatest game of all! FlyBy

    BA-MBA Updates

Dan, You know me. It was that bad. MBA should have put it away by taking care of the ball, but the clock clearly showed 00:00; and the O line was not set. MBA will get their chance to right the wrong; forget about the national ranking. It is just speculation anyway. Congrats to BA on a big win for their program. Roll Red Roll
  17. yeah, and Coach Flatt tripped over a dummy and is questionable for Friday night
  18. Keep up the good work 3. The boys are playing pretty well. A combination of hard work, discipline, focus, and preparation will lead you to the Promised Land. Do not forget what your coaches teach you on and off the field. It will prove very valuable to you now and even more so in the future. Roll Red Roll!
  19. Wes, I have noticed a new side of you lately. You seem to be jumping on people a little bit. I like it! I seriously doubt that he is an MBA boy.
  20. Something tells me MBAMBAMBA is not from MBA. Something tells me he is from another institution trying to stir the pot, especially this being his second post. I don't think an MBA boy would act in such a manner. Just a thought.......
  21. Irish, As we have seen time and time again, anyone can win on Friday night; that is what makes HS football such a wonderful game. MBA is a pretty good team; however, they have yet to prove that they are a great team. Their toughest games of the year lie in front of them, and one of the biggest comes up Friday night. McCallie is a well coached and athletic football team, just like the Big Red. This will definitely be a close game, and I see it coming down to ball control and turnovers. I like MBA's balanced attack, and I think that will be the difference in the game, at least I hope so. Roll Red Roll!

    CBHS 21- BA-6

A lot of folks were talking about how good and how big they are; sounds like they are right. Congrats to CBHS on a huge win for their program. I have no doubt that BA will bounce back.
