  1. I agree with you, Maples should be on this list! I always thought these all-star teams were nothing more than politics!! On our 2000 team we had 7 players make the all-state team, and not one of us made either all-star game, not even the East-West game!! How is that possible? And we had a Mr. Football finalist! Everyone knows Maples should be on this list!
  2. Warren had a solid game against Troy with 3 catches for 56 yrds. He made one heck of a one handed catch for 25 yrds. That was also the longest catch of the night for the noles. Carl looked pretty good also, he had some great blocks.

  4. I predict Alcoa 42-14. I don't know much about CAK.
  5. Does anyone know what the crowd total was last night??
  6. First off, congrats to the Rebs! I said this was gonna be a great game and I was right. Both teams played their hearts out! Rankin is a great coach, but I was a little questionable on some of the play calling. I felt he could have thrown down the field a few more times. I noticed at one point in the game that Maryville's secondary was cramping bad! All four were out the game at one point, and I felt Alcoa should have taken advantage of that. Other than that the game was great! Alcoa just couldn't catch a break when they needed it most, and GQ called a great game once again. One thing that did bother me was the Raccoon thing. No one knew what the students intended with it, but running to our side and holding a coon up to the fans bothered me. I'm not saying anything was meant by it, but they made it seem that way.
  7. Well it's time football fans!! I've been waiting for this game all summer and it's finally here! Here's my predictions for this one. This game will be won in the trenches and it should be close. I think Alcoa upsets the Rebs in a hard fought battle!!! 28-24!! Good luck to both teams!!
  8. I don't know why, but I've got a feeling this game will come down to the wire guys! There's not a lot of hype in this game compared to last years and I just think Alcoa will come to play all four quarters. I talked to Cobb tonight, and he said that everyone is doubting him and his abilities. I told him to take all the negative talk as motivation and show everyone how great you are on Friday. Good luck to both teams once again! I may write my Screen name on my shirt so the coacht fanatics will know who I am! hahahaha, everyone should do it!
  9. Kickoff is just around the corner!! I can't wait to get to Shields! Rivals was at Alcoa today. They will probably be at MHS tomorrow.
  10. This must be the first year that has ever happened. When I played we barely had 40 on the team. Out of those 100 players I wonder how many actually get on the field. It can't be more than 20.
  11. When your school has around 1500 students I'd hope there are others to carry the ball! I'm sure somewhere in that population you can find 10 RB's! Alcoa has a lack of options most of the time. 300 students will do that to a football team, but trust me this game will be close RR!!
  12. I can only imagine how far the students are going to take this at the game! I remember the money thing in 2000, and it was crazy. This may take it to the next level though!
  13. Like I stated earlier, I'm not saying Alcoa will win this game, but their confidence level will definitely be very high! I know Tank was a huge part of Maryvilles offense, but I don't really know about the others. Are they impact players?? And by the way, GQ had no choice but to suspend those guys for what they did. Some of yall make it seem like no other coach would have done that. That was something serious in my eyes, and I'm surprised he didn't suspend them for more than one game!! I won't say what they did cause yall know, but I couldn't believe it myself! Good luck to both teams
  14. I find that hard to believe! You had to be at that game to understand why I thought it right thing to do. That was the worst officiated game i've ever witnessed, so no one actually knew for sure what really happened at the time. I know GQ is a great coach, but I'd expect him to have done the same for one of his own!
  15. I'm sure GQ will still have his troops ready to play regardless! Merrit replaced Wilks against us and did a fairly decent job. But coming from a similar situation, I know for a fact that this will boost Alcoa's confidence, and that could make a huge difference in a game like this. Not saying that they will win,but the players will Believe they can win!!
  16. Don't try to make it seem like Alcoa complains about suspensions!! That was a totally different scenario! If Maryville was in the same situation then I bet GQ would fight for his player! What these players did was totally different!! I'm curious to know what they did though.
  17. Like someone stated in an earlier post, this is deja vu all over again! in 2000 it gave our football team even more confidence than we already had when Wilks and Co. were suspended. I imagine Alcoa will come in with the same confidence and that may make this game closer than some may think! By the way, does anyone know exactly what happened???
  18. Yeah I'm glad to see Alcoa gettin some exposure after all them years! Congrats Brian and I hope he has another great year!
  19. Oh yeah, didn't Oak Ridge beat Riverdale last year??? Maryville scrimmages OR every year and seems to man handle them each time. Alcoa dominated OR also, so if Riverdale is on the level of OR then they better not show up in Blount County any time soon!! 16 gold balls between 2 schools!!!! That's scary huh???
  20. Honestly, I don't know who'd win between Riverdale and Maryville. The Rebs have beaten several athletic teams over the past few yrs. I'm guessing Riverdale would be like a Memphis Melrose, and we all saw what happened to that team a few yrs back. They were fast, physical, and seemed to have more tallent than Maryville, but who came home with the gold ball??? I wouldnt bet against the Rebs, not with GQ calling the shots!!
  21. I'm sure they won't be in man most of the time, but if they do go man, then the front four better get pressure on the QB. I wish teams played man when I was playing!! We had one of the best secondarys in the state and we never played man. You just didn't see man back in the days! We had wayyyy too much speed for most teams though!
  22. IF the Rebs do have a weakness on the team would it be the D line?? I've heard good and bad things about the D line so far. I heard they were smaller than past D lines. I've never seen a small line at Maryville, so I doubt that the line is too small! I plan on getting to the game by 5:15 or 5:30. The visiting side is very small and I want a good seat!
  23. If Alcoa does decide to man up on the corners, Sommers would be the one I'd put on Maples. He did have 11 or 12 picks last yr, and can hit with the best of them. I heard UT offered him, is that true??
  24. I don't plan on leavin from the game too early! I think this game will be closer than many may think!!
  25. From my understanding GQ kept it "Basic" last night? I've heard several different stories about the game. Some say the Rebs looked pretty darn good, and some say they were ok. Did The Rebs have any turnovers?? Well that game is over with now, let's talk about nexts weeks game! Could it be as close as the 2000 game?? I just don't know what to expect in this one.
