  1. Well Northeast beat us in round 1, and we went and watched Gallatin beat Shelbyville last Friday, this should be a good football game. N.E. 's qb. almost beat us by himself, we couldn't stop his running. Every time we thought we had him bottled up he would get away and gain another 7 or 8 yards. Gallatin's O'line was impressive , if they block like they did last week it will be a very interesting game. But Gallatin better really put in some time on stopping the N.E. qb. We didn't really give up any real big plays to them other than a long run by the fullback, they just picked up around 3 or 4 yards a play and we couldn't stop them, Gallatin did the same thing to Shelbyville last week. Shelbyville knew it was coming but couldn't stop it. A rainy wet field will probably favor Gallatin, because N.E. has several kids that can fly and a wet muddy field might neutralize that.
  2. Better not forget about #3 Trey Emmons. Might not be real big but he is quick as a cat and can get the job done. The freshman back (also an Emmons) is not bad either.
  3. I know this is not a Lincoln County thread and I apologize for that, but, I hear this all the time, and the biggest reason L.C. is not winning like it used to is simply enrollment. If we had all the kids at Fayetteville City and Riverside Christian we would be a better team no doubt, but, we would still be at only about 1400 to 1500 kids and it is hard to compete with the schools with 2500 kids ,year in year out, that's over 1 thousand more kids to pick from and if you don't think that makes a big difference you are only fooling yourself. Back in the 80s and 90s we still had about 1400 to 1500 kids and the bigger schools were a lot closer enrollment wise. They have grown and we have remained the same all the years enrollment wise .I was not in favor of the split when it happened, nor was the big majority of L.C., but, it is here and we have to deal with it. And now really looking at it in the long run it might be best for both schools cause it did allow us to drop down in classification which helps us be a lot more competitive. I guarantee you Coach Thomas, the coaching staff, and those kids want to win championships as bad as ever. Hopefully this will allow both of us a chance to win them again.
  4. Don't see that happening right now .They have what they have and we have what we have. don't see any kids jumping ship back and forth But coach P and his staff do an excellent job and you are right, they are very young. They played a tough schedule for a 1a team this year, especially a first year varsity team. They have some great promising talent coming up but the thing that really hurts them is simply numbers, I think they will only dress about 22-25 players. They will slowly raise that number but it will take them a couple or so years to do that. #32 Thompson is out and wont play, and that really hurts them .I think if they don't turn it over they will be able to hang with SP,but, if they play sloppy and turn it over it might get ugly. This same group of kids went I believe 9-1 last year playing a jv schedule which included beating Madison Academy of Huntsville Al. whose varsity won the state championship last season .We broadcasted all their games last season on Monday nights and they have some good players, just need some more numbers wise. Regardless of the outcome Friday night, they have had a good year for a first year varsity team.
  5. Yes, Coy is back at Coffee Co. and we wish him luck. For the falcons to win they must stop the rushing attack of F.C. But more importantly the falcons must hold on to the football, and cut out the mistakes that have plagued us so far this season. We have had a shot at victory in both games this year but, have let it slip away by not making plays when we had the chance. The falcons are about 4 plays away from being 2-0 instead they are 0-2. Tonight's game is critical for both teams, the winner can go on and still have a good season and the loser is looking at a long difficult year.
  6. The fact is, punk knew about the city high school deal before he took,(or whatever you want to call it) the job, my guess is, he used us to get more money, and from what I heard, and been told, that's exactly what happened. Your offensive co. came and went thru spring practice with us, then quit and went back, hmmm just enough time to find out a lot about us. As far as our kids being at the patrick center, you are probably right, they are probably there, helping, and assisting the "old folks", or doing whatever they can to help out. Or maybe they are out delivering Honeys slawburgers to the "old folks". :roflol:
  7. From what i have heard F.C. put a pretty good spanking on Giles Co. tuesday night
  8. Yeah, all the mufreesboro teams you mentioned are all right at or above 2ooo students and we have 1100 to pick from, that is exactly the difference there. I don't think that any of those schools have anything to do with who we have on our team. As far as ringers, I have heard that if he does come he is going to bring a few with him. We are probably closer to Huntland enrollment wise than we are to the schools mentioned above.
  9. Its pretty much a done deal that we will be opening up with Giles Co. next season, if he does come won't that be a big game, if he stays there it will still be a big game.
  10. Most of the "yapping" I have heard is from Giles Co.people. I believe this is on a Giles Co. thread not a L.C. thread. If David wants to come, then we will welcome him with open arms, if not then we will find another quality coach that wants the job, might already be on the staff now, who knows. The main reason for all the talk is the fact that the job is now open, David and the majority of his staff are from L.C., played at L.C. and I believe still live here. It is just natural that someone might want to go back home if given the chance to coach where they went to school and played. I believe that David and his staff have way too much respect for coach Thompson to comment on anything about that until he made it official. We should all know something before christmas, as far as who gets the job.
  11. Do I detect some bitterness there??? Riverdale, should be more of the same.
  12. Went to the game, total domination by Riverdale, just as I figured it would be. Waaay to much speed for SD.. In all fairness # 3 for SD. got hurt very early and that really hurt SD., he is one of their better players, really hurt us last week. Riverdale is is a good position to get a rematch with Maryville if they take care of business next week. Did notice that the warriors seem to have really improved since we played them 3rd game, may make a run!
  13. Go Riverdale.!!! We had them on the ropes and didn't put them away when we had the chance. Once our Qb. got a well placed "knee" in the back, right before the half we were done offensively, he was a trouper and came back and finished the game, but he was not the same after that. One of our best recievers got his ankle twisted too, and tried his best too but was far from 100%. Take away their running back who rushed the ball it seemed like about 300 times and see how productive their offense is. I think that Riverdale has way too many weapons and speed for the trojans, and I will be there to check it out. But that is why they play the game, stranger things have happened.
