  1. Thank you, Scout15. 'Preciate the correction. But I think I made my point, seeing as the schools you corrected me on were in a higher classification than I had said. One more point. I know everyone not in the Chattanooga area is saying Boyd beating South Pittsburg twice is not that big a deal, but I don't think people understand something: South Pittsburg does not lose to the same team twice. They are a very well coached team that is very physical. They have a very proud team and the rivalry with Boyd has become, well, let's just say vicious at times. South Pittsburg has never lost to the same team twice in a year and Boyd did that this year. This is a team that was averaging around 60 points a game (or something like that) and came to Boyd and scored only 13 in 2 games. I don't know what that says to you, but it speaks volumes to me. Big word here: RIVALRY. The proof was in the pudding. Wish everyone the best of luck on Friday! BucBandwagon
  2. BUBBA61- Please do not judge the entire school. I'm sure there are people from every school who do not represent the school well. So please, don't say stuff like "Boyd is a poor reflection on the state of Tennessee as to how a 'Christian School' should act". Every, and I do mean every, school has people like that. As for the topic at hand Hunter23. You said Boyd has not played near the competition that DCA has. I disagree. Boyd does not schedule 1A teams for nonregion games anymore. Why? No one will play them. Seriously. Look at their nonregion schedule. This year they played a Baylor team before Baylor had all the injuries (DII school), Goodpasture (2A), East Ridge (2A), Howard (2A), and Walker Valley(3A). They had a 10th game scheduled, but the other team backed out. I agree Region 5 is tough, but I also think Boyd's region is tough as well. South Pittsburg was better this year than last year in my opinion. Not trying to start an argument. Just disagreeing with you and hoping to shed some light on Boyd's "Strength of Schedule". It doesn't matter now. Both teams are equal because they both got here.

Just a thought, Smithke, were you there? Not a slam, but dude it was cold! Anyone in their right mind would want to stay stretched and try to stay as loose as possible in that weather. I just think the weather might have had something to do with the way he was running. Just my opinion. I thought Peardon had a great game. I thought the line play was extremely critical on both sides of the ball tonight. They opened some big holes for him. One of the things I've noticed about him is his vision is so good. He can see a hole open and then glide through the whole, much the same as a Walter Payton or Gayle Sayers. Not saying that Peardon is in the same league as these greats right now, but he does have that fluidity. It was dog cold out there tonight, though. Believe me, every time somebody got hit, you could feel it. Looking forward to a great game next week! And, by the way, thanks for making this thread of the BBS-DCA game next week a thread that actually talks about the GAME, not just a bunch of people talking smack. BucBandwagon
  4. No one is doubting the heart of the CAK Warriors. The thing is, no one here is doubting the heart of BBS either. The Bucs showed a great crowd last night what type of team they were. South Pittsburgh (by the way, great season and wish you all the best of luck in the future) has a great team, but I believe, as has been stated earlier on another post, the Bucs are on a mission. I don't believe BBS will be looking past this game. Anyone who makes it this far in the playoffs deserves to not be overlooked. BBS has been in this position before, though. I believe they have obtained a great deal of experience the past many years of how to win in the playoffs. I'm not saying CAK will just roll over because they have proven time and time again they don't do that. I think both teams will be pumped and ready to go. Don't like to make predicitions and I won't in this case. Looking forward to a great game. I just don't know if I can handle a game like Friday night. It was fun, but nerve racking. Everybody be safe traveling. BucBandwagon
  5. Don't post much, but you have struck a nerve with me. I know the band at the BBS-SP game last night (boyd's band imparticular) got the crowd pumped up. I watched a crowd give a standing ovation to our group for about a minute and a half. For those who don't know, that's a long time to be standing clapping. I think this reenergized a crowd that was wound up tight with only a 10 point lead at halftime. I know that's what it did for me. Boyd's crowd, in my opinion, loves to watch the band perform. It takes a long time to learn a show and to learn it well. Yeah. We get ready for contests, but by now, the contests are all over. Most of the bands I know now are getting ready for concert season. This ain't college. If we wrote a show that the band could "park and play", half the crowd wouldn't pay attention at all. We try to use halftime to show people that we not only have one of the best 1A football teams in the state, but we also have one of the best 1A bands in the state as well. Sorry you think the halftime shows are sometimes boring. Those kids out there, though, work their butts off during the year and deserve to be recognized. So get up and let 'em know you are proud of 'em. Yeah. Football games are supposed to be about watching great games and the excitement of Friday nights, but most importantly they are to showcase your kids. BucBandwagon
  6. I don't post alot, but I'd like to put my 2 cents in here. Though I am a Boyd fan, I have seen Boyd Buchanan come from the depths and become the quality team they are today. Coach Akins is a big reason for that. This man took a team that was used to losing and never making it to the playoffs and took them there the first year. His first Boyd team went 11-1, had a perfect regular season, and lost in the 2nd round to BGA. That was 1996. He has now built this program up into the winning program it is today. People now come to every ballgame and expect to win. This was not the case not too long ago. Now, before anyone on here starts saying, "Yeah, but they recruit and anyone can win when they recruit.", let me tell you that Coach Akins has done his magic without recruiting. It's kind of funny that some of these people weren't complaining about 10 years ago when everyone was beating BBS. Most of these kids have been brought up here at Boyd to get an education and their folks are paying for it. So before anyone goes off on the fact that Coach Akins uses "recruits", think again. The man is a quality coach with class. BucBandwagon
