The Tennessee Express Basketball Club will be hosting their 8th Annual Southeastern Shootout for 9u - 15u girls' teams on March 24 - 26 in Lawrenceburg Tennessee. Entry fee is only $160 with a 3+ game guarantee. Awards will be given to the top 3 teams in each age group. Tourney format will be pool play then a single elimination bracket. We have had 40 or more teams entered each of the last 5 years. We always have a good variety of teams from developmental to National caliber. We will consider teams' scheduling needs when they are travelling a great distance. If you want to play in a good Tournament, come to Lawrenceburg on March 24-26. Sidetrain, You are correct. As for our 14u-16u, Anthony and I generally do not do those age groups. We did do a 14u team in 2004 and a 15u team in 2005 as a favor to some girls who had played for us since they were 10u. We also coached the Tennessee Hornets 15u team in 2000. That was the year Bobby and Dana McWilliams decided not to coach. Other than those years, we usually coach the younger age groups. We prefer to send our older kids to Sport Shop, Tennessee Elite, Tennessee Pride, or whoever might be doing a quality team. As for Showtime: Since I took the time the past few years to get to know Matt and Tom personally, they have been very good and respectful to me. I consider both of them friends. The girls that I have sent to them have had very good experiences. I look forward to sending more kids there way. Just one man's viewpoint.

The Tennessee Express 11u Girls Travel Team is looking for Tournaments and games for the coming season. We will start playing in October and finish in January. There has been a lot of talk about this program and that program. So, I thought I would throw the Tennessee Express Basketball Club into the mix. Anthony Flatt and I (Michael Hollman) have taken 5 teams to the 10u Nationals, 3 teams to the 11u Nationals, 4 teams to the 12u Nationals, and 1 team to the 13u Nationals. All these trips have taken place since 1996. So, we have established a tradition of success in the younger age groups. Our program is based on teaching the fundamentals of the game. If you are looking for an alternative, let us know. In 2006 we are having 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, and 13u teams. This past AAU season, our 10u team finished 3rd in the State and 13th in the Nationals. Our 12u team advanced to State with half of the roster filled with 11 year olds. We will keep most of those kids in the 12u age group again. Our 2006 11u team will look to add depth to an already solid team. Our 13u team has 6 good players committed already. We are looking to add 6 more quality players. ptguard12, I could not have said it better myself. You are obviously a very intelligent and thoughtful person. Also, great job on the National updates. I am very impressed with your knowledge of each team. Anthony Flatt and I started our AAU program in Lawrenceburg 19 years ago. So, I have come in contact with a lot of people that contribute to AAU in some capacity. What you do for the AAU message board goes above and beyond the call of duty. So, I want to thank you on behalf of the Tennessee Express Club for the time and effort you put in to the game of BASKETBALL.

Congratulations go out to the Tennessee Express 10u girls on making it into the Sweet Sixteen. We are all cheering you on. The Express made to the final sixteen by beating the Michgan Sun 35-24. They play later today at 6:00 pm Eastern time against the Georgia Pistols. Good luck girls and go get that top 10 finish.

The Tennessee Express Basketball Club will be hosting the Summertime Tune-up Tourney for 11u and 12u Girls on July 9 in Lawrenceburg. Entry fee is only $110 with a 3 game guarantee. We will use a Pool Play/Round Robin format. Both age groups will play 2 - 16 minute halves. We will not be using a running clock. I encourage teams entering the Division II Tournament in Nashville on July 15-22 to come to Lawrenceburg Tennessee to Tune-up for the Nationals. We will work with any teams on scheduling concerns. The Tennessee Express 10u Girls Team qualfied for the Nationals by finishing 3rd in the 10u State this weekend in Memphis. The Express went 3-2 for the weekend losing only to the FCA Lady Eagles and the Xtreme. Both games were very competitive resulting in single digit losses. Therefore, we are looking to add 3 quality players for the Nationals in Orlando. National dates are June 26 - July 4. The Express will be having a open tryout on Saturday May 7 at 11:00 am at E.O.Coffman Middle School in Lawrenceburg Tennessee for all players interested in a chance to go to the Nationals. 3 players will be added to the roster. For a player to be eligible, they must be registered with AAU and participated in one of the 10u Sub-states. Players need to bring a copy of their birth certificate and AAU card to the tryout. The Tennessee Express 12u "A" has only 2 kids left from last year. The team has only been together for about 3 weeks. But, I am encouraged how we have progressed so far. The team has a chance of being pretty good before it is all said and done. Big question is " Do we have enough time before Substate to improve as a team to where we can get one of those top 2 spots? " Only time will tell. I do appreciate all the interest not only in the Express Teams but all the teams. All the questions and comments are good for the game. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Buddy Overcast. I want to send my prayers and thoughts out to Billie and the Overcast Family. I have known Buddy and Billie for 19 years. I know of the blood, sweat, and tears they have put into the Shelbyville Sport Shop AAU club and AAU girls basketball as a whole. Buddy was always helpful to me and the Tennessee Express B'ball club. He was a true AAU basketball pioneer in Tennessee. We as AAU coaches in Tennessee owe him and Billie a great thank you for all they have done. Buddy you will be MISSED and you will be fondly REMEMBERED!!!

The Tennessee Express Girls Basketball Club will be hosting their 7th Annual Southeastern Shootout on March 18-20 in Lawrenceburg Tennessee for 9u-15u girls. Entry fee is only $150 with a 3 to 5 game guarantee. We had 2 Sessions of our Shootout last year with 81 teams participating combined. We had teams entered from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. We encourage everyone that entered last year to return to Lawrenceburg for some more good competition. If your team has not participated in one of our Shootout Events, I encourage you to try our event this year. We usually have a wide variety of teams from developmental to national caliber. As always, we will meet a team's scheduling needs if they are travelling from a great distance away.
