  1. I have to agree, Harpeth has won 10 straight games including beating Waverly by 30 at Waverly. I give Waverly credit as they have won 5 straight games, but who have they beaten; Camden, Fairview, Stewart County, Montgomery Central and a Sycamore team who has lost 5 or 6 straight. That's not exactly 5 impressive wins. Now, they have both Cheatham and Creek Wood at Waverly and if they win those games we'll start talking. If not, I don't see Waverly making it to Cheatham County with the rest of us for the district tournament. I do hope Waverly makes it to region because maybe they can upset someone from the other district since the region is at Waverly. If not, then ya'll can root for all the Cheatham County schools.
  2. Lady Cubs almost got the upset win. Setting up to be a good district tournament with Cubs being tough at home. Interesting race is going to be who ends up in the #4 v. #5 game between Sycamore (who is falling fast), Montgomery Central (the jeckel and hide of the district) and Waverly (who is getting confidence with wins). One of those teams is going to be disappointed in not making it to the district tournament. Final week should be exciting.
  3. Good game tonight as Cubs upset the Indians. Cubs on their home court during district tournament may be tough to handle. Also sets up important game when Creek Wood travels to Cheatham with the winner getting the #3 seed and pretty much an automatic berth into district tournament play, while the loser will most likely host a dangerous Stewart County team.
  4. I have to agree about West being the MVP. Sure he puts up some big numbers, but not against the good teams. I just don't think the MVP should go to a player from a team who is going to finish in the bottom half of the district with a losing record in district play and most likely not even make it to the district tournament. It's definitely a more wide open race for the MVP this year.
  5. Lady Indians getting better with each game, clearly the favorite, with the next 5 teams all fairly close. Sycamore losing to Montgomery Central at home could be costly for them. Only the top 2 teams will be assured of getting past their first round games. Would hate not to finish in the top 2.
  6. Waverly was playing with next years team, minus burlison last night. Mullinax is their only SR. The 07-08 season should be a fun one next year. So the Lady Indians only beat next year's Waverly team by 29? You're right, it should be a lot of fun. Just kidding with you. Waverly will be tough next year and may still pull an upset this year, but Harpeth, Cheatham, Sycamore and Creek Wood will all be good again next year so it's not going to get any easier.
  7. I doubt very seriously she averages 18 points per game. Looking at boxscores she has scored 208 points in 15 games played for a 13.8 average. She is a really good player though, although Harpeth has held her in check. From talking to people who went to the game, it wouldn't have mattered if she would have played or not as it was a cake walk for a win. Just like I posted beforehand, the Lady Indians were going to roll. I do think and hope Waverly can knock off Sycamore or Cheatham though. They seem to have Cheatham's number since upsetting them last year.
  8. Sycamore played well last night and may be starting to click and like I've posted earlier this district is a two team race between Harpeth and Sycamore with Harpeth the better team. I think Cheatham will squeeze out 3rd with Creek Wood 4th and Stewart County 5th. The bottom three really don't matter and is still open. It only determines who gets totally embarassed coming to Harpeth as the 8th seed, who gets somewhat embarassed coming to Sycamore as the 7th seed and then who probably thinks they can pull the upset, only to get embarassed at Cheatham as the 6th seed. Maybe Creek Wood or Cheatham pulls an upset in the semi finals (upsetting Sycamore, no way the Indians are losing). I don't see Stewart making it out of the play in game, I've been totally unimpressed with them this year.
  9. Thanks for the info, I may have to catch a listen to you sometime on the radio. I didn't mean Mullinax didn't deserve to be in a beauty pageant. I was just suprised that she would miss such an important game for a beauty pageant. I don't think it would matter either way if she played so maybe it's not that big of a deal. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Maybe she'll win the pageant.
  10. What radio station do you broadcast for? I may have to listen to the game sometime. Also, you've got to be joking about Mullinax missing the game to be in a beauty pageant? With or without Mullinax, the Lady Indians defeat Waverly. Can anyone tell me the last time Waverly defeated Harpeth? Waverly is only dangerous in a play in game if they get up to the number 5 seed. They won't suprise anyone this year like they did Cheatham last year. Although I wouldn't mind them knocking someone off. Would make the road easier for the Lady Indians.
  11. Glad to see Waverly finally get a win and Montgomery Central take it on the chin. Waverly needs to enjoy the win as the Indians come to town Friday and are getting healthier.
  12. I see the district as being a 2 team race between Harpeth and Sycamore with the Indians getting the #1 seed. I think 3 through 5 is still wide open and those teams are pretty even depending on who shows up on a given night. Definitely want to try and stay out of the #4 / #5 play in game though. Then the cellar dwellars who I think are all about the same and will make first round exits in the tourny.
  13. Harpeth really isn't playing the way I thought they would at this time, but look for them to roll over Fairview. Have to get it going on all cylinders soon. Sycamore will dominate a very weak Stewart County team. I think Waverly is in a must win situation and gets it all together to defeat Montgomery Central. Creek Wood to beat Cheatham County in a close one. This could be the game of the night as both teams trying to stay in the hunt.
  14. Harpeth boys win easily tonight. Up 21-2 end of first quarter and by 31 at halftime. Thought the Indians came out focused and ready to play...finally. Waverly made up some ground in the second half with their starters playing against our freshmen. Everyone on Harpeth played pretty well and for Waverly their big kid played well.
  15. Well, after tonight I'm not sure how I feel the district will work out. I haven't been impressed with the way the Lady Indians are playing. Winning yes, but not like I think they should be. Waverly could have easily won the game tonight and looking at their district record (1-4), they could easily be 5-0 and in first place. I think the district is wide open between everyone except Stewart County and Fairview. Come tournament time any of the top six could beat the other. Finishing one or two is very important I think. The Lady Indians need to kick it up another gear.
  16. Don't count out the Indians, still the team to beat in my opinion although its going to be a good race. It looks like Creek Wood, Montgomery Central and Waverly are all improving and could beat anyone on a given night.
  17. How in the world do they lose to Perry County by 17 points? Didn't they beat Perry County earlier? They are in for a very rude awakening when they start playing the big boys in the district. They come up this way and make the Cheatham County trips after the break. What's going on down there as it seems they have gotten considerably worse the past two years?
  18. I'm sorry, but I don't really think Montgomery Central is a real contender. Montgomery Central has only beaten the 2 worst teams in the district in Waverly and Fairview. They have 4 losses by 20 points and another 3 losses of around 35 points. They are not contenders when it comes to playing the real teams. I think this district is a two team race between Harpeth and Sycamore with Creek Wood, Cheatham and Stewart trying to play a spoilers role such as Creek Wood beating Harpeth. But with both teams healthy, they are the best.
  19. If I'm not mistaken the Rowdy Rebs were the talk of the district early on and then faded fast even with the district at their place. I don't see the Rebs being able to hang with the Indians at all although the win over Creek Wood was suprising to me. We'll find out a lot after Sycamore and Stewart play. Still look for the Indians to be the team to catch in this district.
  20. Is the score posted for this game real? A 50 point loss for Waverly is unbelievable after they were so good just 2 years ago. What is wrong with them? Can they turn it around in district play?
  21. Harpeth is doing just fine this year and will be fine this year, enough said.
  22. Creek Wood wins this one. They are much better than Stewart County. It will be close because of the Rebels slowdown game. I think the Red Hawks are much better this year while the Rebels aren't nearly as good as they were last year. Creek Wood was impressive in their win over Harpeth.
  23. Harpeth won again tonight over Dickson. Girls race will be between Harpeth, Sycamore, Cheatham and Creek Wood in my opinion. Waverly and Montgomery Central might sneak up on some people. Don't know a lot about Fairview while Stewart County girls appear to be very weak this season.
  24. Harpeth wins easily over Dickson. How is Dickson so bad year in and year out with all the athletes they have? You're right though as the crowd made a difference. Looking at early district scores it looks like its a Cheatham County district race between Harpeth, Sycamore and Cheatham. I think the rest is up in the air with a nod to Montgomery Central right now as they beat Houston County whereas Stewart County and Waverly both lost to Houston County by about the same score. Stewart barely beat McEwen though while Waverly beat Camden. Creek Wood was thumped by Station Camp. Fairview is well, Fairview.
