1. Heres "offical recorded times" for Rainer.

Straight from TSSAA website. These are state championship meet numbers for 100 meters

    2001 Alcoa Class A-AA James Rainer 10.84

    2000 Alcoa Class A-AA James Rainer 10.96

    1999 Alcoa Class A-AA James Rainer 10.67

I also know of offical recorded times faster than these........

Could not find any "offical recorded times" for Brad Walker.

  2. No, I don't believe for a second that the War of 1861 was fought over slavery, but more over an intricate network of complex economic matters and the right to self-determination and self-government.  And I am well familiar with statements about the war (Ulysses S Grant saying that if he'd thought the war was over eliminating slavery, he would have resigned his commission and fought with the CSA).  And the brutal violation of the Constitution that Abraham Lincoln and his noodle-spined followers began and encouraged created a federalist ripple effect still being felt today (only much greater in scope and magnitude).

Right or wrong, historically accurate or not, the Confederate Naval Jack and Battle Flag are generally interpreted as being signs of anti-black racism.  Clearly, this doesn't apply to all or even a majority of those with it, but the annexation of the flag by the KKK and other anti-black groups has only served to further tarnish the flag's image.

For those of us who agree wholeheartedly with the cause that was fought for by the CSA in the War of 1861 who despise the racial implications that the flag has taken on, I encourage displaying a 3rd National Flag.  That is one that has not been seized by racist groups, and as such shows solidarity with the politcal theory and shows no allegiance (one way or another) to any of the racial issues that have become so prominent.

  3. It's one thing to be offended by something that's meant to be offensive and labeled correctly; it's another thing altogether to assume that the "rebel" flag or "confederate" flag is anything but a symbol of a specific group in the past. It's rediculous to contend that this flag is a symbol of slavery because the states that marched under it were slave holding states. If that is the case, however, the American flag is also a symbol of slavery. Let me explain: 50 stars on the flag, 4 represent slave holding states that never seceeded from the union; therefore, since they weren't in secession, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't apply to those states. They could keep their slaves. It would take an idiot to not see the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. The flag simply represented the group that was fighting for states' rights. Slavery was not brought into it until it became a way of control. If the union wanted to free slaves period, why not in those 4 states. If you ban the confederate flag for being offensive, you must ban the American flag for being offensive. It's that simple. Read the history.

Well said uknowme! Glad someone took the time to learn the real truth in CW history.

You think so FBE...........? I guess you would! It does not take much time on `ol Coach T's to see The two most classless representatives of the Maryville & Alcoa football, than you two.

You know some of us with class, believe "if you don't have anything good to said(and that includes the other team), don't say anything at all"

So, yea, I guess you do think dmoyers1 does a good job of posting classless post.

So to you I give the same advice, Go read some of Rebelrons post, and learn to represent these two great teams with CLASS.

  5. QUOTE(2Aguru @ Nov 24 2004 - 10:56 PM)

Bombsquad, I greatly appreciate your initiative to get this thread going again. I will be the first to admit the last one was out of control, but I refrained from jumping in on a large amount of stupidity that was running wild throughout the 18 pages. Anyways, to the game, I have a great respect for the Alcoa program and their 10 State Championships. However, looking at the game, I see no way that Alcoa has gotten 45 points better over one season. It is debatable on the improvement of Lipscomb. In my opinion, I would say Lipscomb is pretty much the same as last year, no better -no worse. Alcoa may have gotten a year more experience, but experience will not close the 6 touchdown gap from a year ago. I pick the Stangs by 21...but Alcoa will come out fired up and play close for the first quarter or so.

    Go Stangs!

I'd say Alcoa has got just alittle better...................

  6. Gerry, I like your style. I am of the same opinion. Lipscomb defense is so on top of their game right now it is scary. Going into this year I thought Lipscomb would have to score tons of points to win & that has certainly not been the case. All 3 linebackers are all over the place. The D-Line is getting great pressure on QB's & the DB's are laying some licks & picking off passes. The defense will score tonight off of a Fiegler pass. If Fiegler throws that little rainbow pass to the sidelines, Austin Rogers will be going the other way to the house. Ford Hillin will be big tonight. Should be a great game. Good Luck Mustangs!

You were right Twittybird! You just had the teams wrong!

Alcoa pressured and sacked D.L.'s QB all night. He was picked off three times. One ran back 90 yards for a TD.

Well, I looked all night at the D.L. players trying to figure out which one was Rogers?...........I was looking for a player UT might have interest in?.......the only ones I saw, were wearing maron and silver! LOL!

  7. I guess you are a little lower on the education chain. I never said anything about stopping Lindsey. He is a great player and no team is going to stop him, but Lipscomb will not let Lindsey beat them. He will get his yards and one, maybe two TDs. So I would consider that containing him. But Lipsomcb may shut him down all together but I find that hard to believe. If you think that Alcoa's recieving corps iis better than Goodpasture's well I dont know what to tell ya. The passing game will not beat Lipscomb, and I know they will contain Lindsey so looks like a long ride home tonight.

    825453336

You got the 2 TD right, but Lindsey ran all over D.L. He had over 250 yards on the ground. He ran straight at D.L and there was NO containing him. I don't know about all the other Alcoa fans, But I had a very enjoyable trip home!

    Go Alcoa & Maryville!

  8. Huntington will need to score atleast 35 points to beat Alcoa. I just do not see Huntington doing that?

West teams might play a different kind of football...........BUT I'll take the kind of real football coming out of Blount County! Go Alcoa & Maryville!

I'm looking forward to Double state Championship just like in `2000. Pretty good for two schools in each others backyard!

    -BlountCountySportsFan

P.S. Good luck to Fulton in 3A.....I'll be in the stands pulling for ya`!

  9. FBE,

Your a joke! Alcoa running up the score? Go look at the scoring stats BY QTR!

In the HHS - Alcoa game, HHS had most all their starters in the game. Alcoa was playing the 2-3 string players. Fr. Quarterback, Cobb simply tucked the ball and ran. It IS GAME EXPERIENCE. PERIOD! When you don't have the depth of Marville, you need ANY chance to get backups that EXPERIENCE.

I'm surprised your not whinning for Maryville to drop Alcoa.............

Bottom line......I'm tried of your NEGITIVE post against Alcoa.

    Go Alcoa & Maryville.

    -BlountCountySportsFan

  10. RebelNation,

For what it's worth ... up until this year's close game ... Blount has beaten Alcoa the last several times they've played.  Maryville has owned us ... but not Alcoa.

    825446119

Oh give me a break! Your full of it. Yes a couple of years, but other than that Alcoa's has kicked WB's butt! Let see `98 `99, `2000, `2001, `2004 alcoa wins.

5 out of the last 7 games I can remember. And in `2000 & `2001 the score was not even close. This year, Alcoa would of beat WB by 3-4 TD's if the zebras had not took over the game.

  11. O K.......I have been reading these posts for a few days now and it is time for me to throw my 2 cents worth in.  As a long time supporter of a team in Region 3AA I have had a long look at Lipscomb and Goodpasture for a few yrs. now.  Not since reallignment 4 yrs ago has a team from east tennessee (with the exception of Tyner) came even close to beating one of these teams.  This year will be NO exception.  Lipscomb will beat Alcoa, but it won't be by 49 points this year.  They are just too well coached and plenty good enough athletically to hang the loss on Alcoa.  Region 2 beats up on Region 1 every year in the first round of the playoffs and get a false idea of how good they are.  They then beat on each other for a couple of rounds before they come to a REAL football team.  Welcome to our world Region 2.  Three teams from Region 3 have decided to move up to class 3A to get away from these schools.  After Friday night, ya'll will be wishing you had done the same.  Surprised is not the word I will be if Alcoa

pulls out a win.....SHOCKED is more like it.

    825447241

Huh? Alcoa beat Goodpasture in `2000, after GP had beat DL! They went on to win the state!

In `2001, Alcoa played toe to toe with Goodpasture only to lose late in the 4qtr. to a blocked punt. GP went on to win state.

And as far as Tyner........typical 2nd or 3rd round loser.....maybe one day they will be able to make it to the 4th round to get a dose of Alcoa kick butt! So...go lay down your team got beat, and no one wants your 2 cents worth......

  12. So..If David Lipscomb has the best coaches, program, big dedicated website showing all the stats showing how the dominate.............uh then, uh why does DL only have 2 state championships?

    DL 1994, 2002. :P

    Alcoa 1977,1978,1979,1989,2000. :P

Plus Alcoa's Playoff history is way to much to type on a website front page.

You DL Guys, just keep believing your the Best....But facts and history...IS TRUTH! thumb
