  1. The finals will be Father Ryan vs. Christian Brothers or Baylor. It will all depend on the health of the Baylor wrestlers in particular Watson and Shuford. Without these two it will be an easy win for CBHS but with them I expect Baylor to win. Does anyone have info on the health of these two Baylor wrestlers?
  2. Regarding Helton's absence this season. David was invited to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Combine in San Antonio,TX which took place in early January. David was one of 500 HS juniors from around the entire nation to be invited to this event, which provides young athletes the chance to showcase their abilities to college football coaches from around the country. David took the time from the end of football season until the combine to prepare for the event and get better at all of the events he would be participating in. Hopefully his time at the combine went well and helped him in the recruiting process.
  3. Didn't make weight. Reports are that he was .2 over.
  4. Even if Ward had made weight and pinned Eady like most expected then Watson still would not have wrestled in my opinion. The Baylor coaches are smart enough to consider the well being of a kid more than the wins and losses. My question is why would McCallie forfeit 112? I understand that the starter, Ward, didn't wrestle, but Adam Connell wrestled 103 in place of Elsea, the normal 103 starter. I'm not sure who weighed in at what weights, but it would only seem logical to let Elsea weigh in at 103 and after Ward didn't make weight let one of the 103 pounders wrestle at 112. The worst thing that can happen is surrender a pin and six points which is the exact same as forfeiting. And as we saw tonight major upsets can occur as with Satterfield pinning Helton. Who's to say that one of the McCallie 103 pounders couldn't pull their own upset at 112.
  5. I'm starting to think that ynotme doesn't even have a dog in this race.
  6. Wrestle90 you are promising a closer match than we have seen in previous years. Does that mean you are already admitting defeat?
  7. Lets have some more predictions. Sorry for splitting into two posts.
  8. My line-ups are based on the rosters from the SE Prep Slam and most recent dual meets. Just one person's opinion here: 103: Elsea dec. Standifer (McCallie 3-0) 112: Ward pin Eady (McCallie 9-0) 119: Watson pin Westbrooks (McCallie 9-6) 125: Manley pin Helton (Baylor 12-9) 130: Jennings dec. Reece (Tied at 12) 135: Hayes pin Martin (Baylor 18-12) 140: Doster dec. Hooker (Baylor 21-12) I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way, but I'm going with Doster because he has the better head-to-head record and I'm a little partial to the red team. 145: Cate maj. dec. Cobb (Baylor 25-12) 152: Duncan pin Craig (Baylor 25-18) 160: Martino dec. Shuford (Baylor 25-21) 171: Condrey maj. dec. Bodine (Tied at 25) 189: Ferguson pin Prevost (Baylor 31-25) 215: Helton pin Satterfield (Baylor 37-25) 285: Mackey pin Kinch (Baylor 43-25) I have Baylor winning in a pretty high scoring match with a final score of 43 to 25.
  9. Wrestle90, just so you know the Big Red Machine is still rolling. They did win a State Championship last season. You probably didn't know that since you left so early along with the rest of the EBE.
  10. MWR if you saw Tyler wrestle this year and last year then you saw 2 completely different things. Yes Tyler stalled quite a bit last year versus Hermann in the state duals match. Should he have been called for it four times? I don't know. I wasn't there. Keep in mind it was the same ref who DQ'd Max Ofori 215 pounder of Cleveland in the state finals this year. This year in state duals he beat the new Father Ryan HWT 6-0. To score 6 points as a HWT makes it difficult to stall. I never said he did nothing that resembled a punch either so learn to not misquote someone. An elbow does look similar to a punch except that there is no fist hitting a face. As silverpie stated there was no DQ either. Learn the rules of wrestling. A DQ is not a golden point OT finish. I also never said anything derogatory towards Browner. I have done nothing to belittle the MBA gentleman and I congratulate him on his 3rd place finish. MWR you should probably stay off of this board for a while and go study especially after all the things I discovered which you need to go learn. govolscb21 you are really having a hard time understanding what move was being done. Tyler never even attempted a snap down. Also front row seats aren't always that great considering any front row seat during the consolation session of the tournament had at least two tables in front of them. From my seat (5th row where nothing could block my view and from the several times I watched the match on video there was no punch "thrown" as you say. A punch is defined in the dictionary as, "to hit with a sharp blow from the fist." The referee called an elbow to the head (not a punch to the head) which awarded Browner the match since it was in OT. Where does your guarnatee originate from anyway. Wait are you the late night TV mind reader? I would gladly bet money that he attempted a slide by. I also understand that there was stalling on both sides. Call stalling against both wrestlers then. It has been done that way before especially in HWT matches.
  11. I find it hard to make a state top 3 list without Jake Young on it. Not to take anything away from the three gentlemen you have named but Jake in my opinion is deserving of consideration for any of the 3 positions.
  12. One great reason that it is during the middle of the summer is so that the coaches can also have a vacation. Many of these coaches teach during the exam weeks and would like to be able to take family vacations during the summer when they do not have to teach.
  13. Not to make any excuses for Tyler, I am one of his biggest critics, but the clock was another issue in the match. The girls running the clock on that mat messed up two matches in a row. In the 215 match before it the girls had messed up the score so bad that it took about 3 minutes for the referee's to sort it out with them. In the start of the HWT 2nd period the girls didn't start the clock and hence missed a technical violation for holding the singlet on Browner because the clock never started, not saying that would have made Tyler win but would have kept the match out of overtime more than likely. The clocks were showing a 4 for the period for the OT's on all other mats as well. I doubt that one of the eight clocks wouldn't show a 4 when all others would.
  14. This thread has gone far enough, and I think I should clear up all the confusion that everyone has.... especially govolscb21. First of all I will out myself. I am Tyler Watson's older brother, and I watched the match and the video of the match at least four times. After the match Tyler and I drove home together and he gave me a recap of what happened to end the match. Throughout the whole match there was little offense tried by either wrestler. In the overtime period Tyler tried a throw by and attempted a snatch single before both wrestlers went off the mat. Tyler was then called for a very questionable stalling warning since Browner had not once tried to shoot or anything for that matter while in neutral position. At the restart Tyler tried again to do a throw by and then tried again when his arm slid inside of Browner's and Tyler's elbow caught Browner on the cheek in a very slow and glancing blow. govolscb21, there was NEVER a single punch thrown and there definitely were not two punches thrown. So do not go around telling people that Tyler was throwing punches during a match. You definitely would have known if he was because Browner, even as big as he is, would have hit the mat if Tyler had punched him. Until you have the entire story do not go and try to put down the name of a high school kid and make him look like a dirty wrestler when that is definitely not the case. Tyler is a great kid and had a great career on the Baylor wrestling team and never did anything to deserve you trying to trash his name. Reed Watson
