Xander Zone..I ask because my son is a 6th grader, and I'm trying to decide if I should put him in there or not. He would probably be in the 127 pound class and I figured that might be full of 8th graders. He's a good 6th grader, not an outstanding one.

For some of you that may sound funny, but we don't have middle school wrestling down here (Ga.). He wrestles the USAW Novice class kids and was 3rd in the state last year as a midget.

I may put him in there, the worst that can happen is he would get experience....rather quickly!

So that should make for a pretty good Cleveland Duals with Cordell, Talley, and Warfield there.

Is there usually a large middle school turn out for the Southern Open?

Just wanted to add an FYI - The Thanksgiving Parkview Tournament at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga will have girls brackets available.

Friday 11/28 will be for high school ages and have varsity and JV brackets. Saturday will be for girls ages 4 - 14.

More Cleveland Duals info. Lassiter from Ga. will be there also. One of the kids they are bringing is Runnels at 189; he finished 51 - 0 last year and may make for a great match if he gets the chance to wrestle Marabel from Christian Brothers. Side note, from what I understand Runnels is the son of Dusty Rhodes the professional wrestler.

You guys know about all the Tennessee wrestlers that will be there so I'll try to provide as much info as I can about the Georgia wrestlers that are coming.

Coach Ramos does a great job getting the your wrestlers matches. We try to get all the guys matches and it usually works out to at least 8 or 10 matches for the guys not on varsity. Some get many more than that. They are on JV-1, JV-2 and 9th grade teams.

Last year the JV-1 and JV-2 teams were entered into a Varsity tournament when the varsity was out out of town and placed 1st and 3rd. Collins Hill also has a "King of the Hill" tournament that is the equivalent of a state championship for JV wrestlers.

Okay, for the Cleveland Duals 12/13/2003 at Cleveland High School. Teams I'm aware of: Bradley Central, Cleveland, Ringgold, Christian Brothers, and Collins Hill.

I'll add some hype too! Come see Kyle Maynard a kid with no arms or legs but has posted a 29 - 8 record. Get a chance to see a couple of Georgia 5A state champions, Tyler Parker and Nick Lukacs, and see how they measure up to the Tennessee competition.

Drew is doing okay, placed 3rd at the Cumberland College tournament a couple of weeks ago and did alright at VMI. Last year was tough year for him making the adjustment to that level of competition, but he had more wins than losses and placed in most of the tournaments entered.

He wrestled both 184 and 197 last year, but I think he'll stick to 184 this year. To be more competitive he needs some work to improve his technique.

Out of the 115, maybe 20 will be headed to other schools.

I know you mean Tennessee, but at Collins Hill we have 85 and 115 in the youth program.

Xander Zone, maybe I can get to meet you at the UTC - ISU - VT - CN duals. I'll where my Collins Hill shirt and be pulling for my nephew at 184 for Carson-Newan, Drew Woodward from Baylor.

I just hope Bradley will put someone against Lukacs at 145 this year so you guys can see him. We hope that we can reach the level of Bradley one day. The measue of success for Collins Hill is how we perform against Bradley, Cleveland, and Soddy-Daisy. Wrestling in Tennessee only makes us better.

I'm thinking there might be some good matchups at the Cleveland Duals depending on the pools.

You guys are missing the big picture here and that's the Title IX issues. More women's youth and high school teams mean more college women's teams and that may help to add more men's college teams. So support these girls.

I hope some of you Tennessee guys will come down. Collins Hill is easy to find and only about 2 miles off Interstate 85.
