  1. See report under thread "Brentwood v. Page" Page lost in overtime 43-45
  2. Page lost to Brentwood in overtime 43-45 as the officials allowed Brentwood to push, elbow, set moving screens, & go over the backs of the Lady Patriots all night. Critical charging fouls were called on Page's Lanie Barker early in the game & Kelly Forrest late in the game. You can't blame it all on the officials in that Page had few offensive rebounds & the inside game could not produce enough points - several wild shots were put up in hopes of getting the foul called, but the officials weren't going to give Page any calls. Brentwood used a balanced attack where their inside players got 19 pts & their outside players got 26 pts. The one bright spot for Page was Kelly Forrest with 23 pts (4 three's, 7 of 8 FT's) & 10 rebounds. Meredith McCarville scored 10 pts including 6 in the 4th qtr. Page's 3rd qtr effort of only 3 pts & 25 turnovers for the game contributed to the loss. Page came back in the 4th qtr as Kelly Forrest scored 10, Meredith McCarville scored 6, & Nicole Bagsby hit 4 of 4 FT's. Forrest sent the game into overtime when she hit a three with seconds left. In overtime Page only scored 2 as Brentwood missed all 6 of their FT's, but escaped with the victory anyway. Page 43 - Kelly Forrest 23, Meredith McCarville 10, Nicole Bagsby 6, Alison Harmon 2, Rachel Vanderburg 2 Brentwood 45 - Beth Maher 11, Brooke Diamond 9, Lauren Dugger 8, Tabitha Almader 8, Tay Brogdon 6, Kate Hughes 3 Three pt goals - Page 4 (Forrest 4) Brentwood 1 (Almader) FT's - Page 11 of 14 (78.6%) Brentwood 8 of 19 (42.1%) Turnovers - Page 25, Brentwood 23 From "The Patriot Report" William L. 3. The Page Pariots will be looking to avenge an earlier loss to the Bruins tonight in Brentwood. Page has improved steadily over the season and I expect a close game with plenty of three-point shooting. Look for a report tonight after the game after I get through celebrating. PageMan
  4. No problem, trojansportfan. Thanks anyway. Report updated & printed. Now all I have to do is check my brackets for the district 9-AA tourney and print them. Keep up the good posts - I'll be givng some good marks when I get time. PageMan
  5. Well, I haven't been a kid in about 40 years, I quit dancing about 10 years ago when I broke my knee, but I guess I still goofy & wear glasses. The kid with the dry erase board was ejected from the Page/Eagleville game last night after he wrote "We want real refs" and the official asked him why he wrote that. The student replied, "Because you stink". The official called the cops and "dry erase boy" was escorted from the gym. The crowd cheered him as he left in his moment of glory. Thanks to those who reponded to the Loretto/Collinwood score. I can update my standings and start my print run for my game report to be issued as tomorrow's game with Brentwood. Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. [Edited by PageMan on 2-20-03 12:16A]
  6. Country goes to the city, as the Lady Patriots hope to sweep Brentwood, "undefeated in their district". Well do you know who is in their district? - Hillwood, Ravenwood, Centennial, Franklin - real powerhouses. Page is undefeated in Brentwood's district as well having beaten Centennial twice, Franklin twice, Ravenwood twice, and oh yea, Brentwood too. I think Page will show this 3A team that the first victory was not a fluke. Bring it on Brentwood, the girls are ready.
  7. Tickets are probably one dollar more than regular season so plan on about 5 dollars or so. There are a lot of people who look like PageMan - one being Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top except my beard is a lot shorter. If I let my hair down, I kinda look like Willie Nelson. Some people used to say I looked like Leon Russell as well. But no, I don't have a twin brother, so it was probably me you saw, goldenboy.
  8. Giles Co. girls will be tough for anyone as Paige Howard is playing now since I saw she had 3 three's against Marshall Co. the other night. Page & Loretto have beaten Giles so they are not invincible. Fairview or Lewis Co. will not be pushovers for Giles especially if Giles comes out flat and lets the other team get a lead. Page will be tough as they know how to step up in big tournaments i.e. the Daytona Beach Classic where they won four games and the championship. Monday's first game will eliminate one of the two teams which I have grown to like over the season. It will be sad to see either of them lose and I have great respect for both coaches and all their players. When I watched Lewis Co. at Fairview earlier in the year, I was impressed with both teams play. Both have had their ups and downs during the season and Monday afternoon one team will end their season & the other will move on to face Giles Co. Good luck to both teams. Look for PageMan behind the scoring table with his clipboard following the action.
  9. Giles Co is the #1 seed by coin toss. 1st round predictions: Girls - Fairview 53, Lewis Co. 45 Girls - Loretto 71, Marshall Co. 35 Boys - Loretto 64, Fairview 60 Boys - Page 55, Marshall Co. 45 Have to go. My daughter needs to remotely bump me off my internet connection. Get back to you later.
  10. The score is still not available on this game. I just checked "The Tennessean" website & it still not there. Sometimes these scores never appear. Could you just tell me who won so I can update my overall standings for my report that I give to the Page parents. I start printing at 5:00 AM tomorrow for Page's game with Brentwood at 6:00 PM. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  11. goldenboy, I only carry a clipboard and I'm not a member of the team. I'll arrive in Hohenwald at 3:30 for the 4:30 game on Monday & I'll see if you're around. I have a beard & I'm kinda fat too. Along with the ponytail, I'm pretty easy to spot. I also walk with a limp because of a collapsing ankle. I smoke at every half-time also. Your athletic director, coaches, & ticket taker know me since I've been to so many Lewis Co. games. See you there
  12. Page 60, Eagleville 47 Page outscored Eagleville 22-9 in the 3rd qtr as Kelly Forrest led the Lady Patriots with 24 pts. (3 three's). Nicole Bagsby had 21 pts. with good inside play including 10 rebounds. Eagleville's Brittany Rigsby had 15 pts. (3 three's) & Sarah Karper had 12 pts. (2 three's). I'm awaiting a report on the coin toss held this morning as to who will be the #1 seed in the district tournament. I will post that info on District Tournament Bracket thread. Let's hope the game of chance went our way.
  13. Page plays Eagleville in possibly its final home game. Page defeated Eagleville 52-21 in its 1st matchup, but I expect a better game tonight. I expect a large crowd of faithful Patriot followers & parents to be there. Good luck girls.
  14. See you there goldenboy. I'll be the old man with long hair and red suspenders carrying a clipboard sitting behind the scorer's table. You can't miss me. I'll be at every game charting the action.
  15. Congrats again Britni. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the Lady Panthers in the district tournament. Good luck to Lewis Co. and Fairview in that 1st round game. It will be a great game to watch. See everyone there starting Mon. Feb 24.
  16. The unofficial District 9-AA tournament schedule: Monday Feb 24 4:30 Girls - Loretto vs Marshall Co. 6:00 Boys - Page vs Marshall Co. 7:30 Girls - Fairview vs Lewis Co. 9:00 Boys - Loretto vs Fairview Tuesday Feb 25 6:00 Girls - #1 seed vs Fairview/LC 7:30 Boys - Giles Co. vs Loretto/Fairview Thursday Feb 27 6:00 Girls - #2 seed vs Loretto/MC 7:30 Boys - Lewis Co. vs Page/MC Fri. Feb. 28 4:30 Girls Consolation (3rd place) 6:00 Boys Consolation 7:30 Girls Championship 9:00 Boys Championship Note that times and order of play may not be correct. Please check link at the District Tournament post Girls #1 seed will be determined by coin toss if Giles Co. defeats Marshall Co. on Tuesday. Page & Giles Co would be tied at 8-2 with a split between them head to head games. I repeat that this is NOT official bracket, only speculation by me, PageMan
  17. My prediction: Giles Co. 103, Marshall Co. 42 Without Stephon Johnson, Marshall is toast. Giles rolls on to 10-0 in district 9-AA.
  18. I will re-post what I said before since it was deleted during a data/server problem. I believe the loss at Community was a fluke and that Fairview will probably win by 20 pts. or so. After thumping Houston Co. on Saturday with 4 players in double figures, 7 three's, and 22 of 27 FT's, the good old Fairview team is back. Good luck to all ten of the Lady Yellowjackets. See you in Hohenwald on Monday Feb. 24 and you will face Lewis Co. in the first round of the district 9-AA tournament. It will be a great game and I'll certainly be there to watch it. Good luck to both teams PageMan
  19. Way to go Britni. In the course of scouting your team this year, I knew that you would almost always score 15 to 20 pts. at least. No one could stop you. You have a great shot and good rebounding skills. Good luck against Fairview in the 1st round of the district tournament. I'll be there marking down more points for you I'm sure. Congratulations again. PageMan
  20. Well those are the facts - there were 12 three's. I guess you're disappointed by the low score, splainhornet, but the defense of both teams limited some inside scoring I guess. I'll refrain from calling it a shoot-out unless there are twenty three's and a score of 99 to 96.
  21. Well I thought something was funny about the message boards & the good marks. Those people responsible for fouling up the situation should be banned. If I remember correctly, I think peacemaker gave me the orignal first good mark. Thanks. I will try to re-enter any posts I have made if they can contribute anything. Keep up the good work coacht & staff. I know these things can be complicated by server problems and lost data.
  22. Thanks gilessf & yellowjacket21. Looks like Paige Howard is feeling better with those 3 three's against Fairview. I guess Fairview needs to regroup & get ready for the district tournament. Good luck to Fairview against Houston Co. today. Good luck to Giles Co. against Marshall Co. Tuesday - don't take this game lightly. Our girls almost let Marshall Co. stay in the game too long last night. See everybody in Hohenwald Feb 24 thru Feb. 28 for the district tournament. I'll be keeping up with the scoring of all teams to see whose hot or maybe some new emerging star will come out. Those of you playing non-district games be careful and don't get injured or hurt. PageMan
  23. I would like to thank whoever gave me a good mark. I have tried to be accurate in my statements made here and to not make negative comments towards anyone - most of the time. Now that I have a good mark, I can pass it on the someone else - maybe gilessf, jacketpride24, mustanggurl, or someone from lewis co. Keep those posts coming and will try to answer them if I can. Thanks again. PageMan.
  24. In a three-pt. shootout with both teams having six apiece, Page held MC's #24 Stephon Johnson to only 6 pts. as Johnson got his second technical foul of the night after saying something to the official after he had fouled out late in the 4th qtr. Johnson's first technical came on a questionable call where he kicked the ball - I felt it was inadvertant, but the official saw it differently. I believe that he will be suspended for two games because of this technical foul ejection. Page's J.G. Grigsby had 3 three's and Marshall Co.'s Darryl Henry had 4 three's in an exciting game to watch. Page had 4 players in double figures: Nick Marrs 13, Patrick Evans 13, Jason Brock 13 & J.G. Grigsby 10. Jarrett Campbell of MC led all scorers with 16, followed by Darryl Henry with 14, and Mario Davis with 12. The suspension of Stephon Johnson, if it is true, is unfortunate because he is a good player, but he needs to learn to control his temper. He should be back for the district 9-AA tournament Feb. 24 thru 28 at Lewis Co.
