  1. Before I begin my report on the match, I have to report with great sadness that Page Coach Mindy Stone was relieved of her duties shortly before the match began. I asked a Page administrator after the match for the official reason and it involved taking a coaches' test for non-faculty coaches within a certain time period and apparently former Coach Stone did not. This was a shock for the players, parents, and myself so our win tonight was bittersweet. Assistant Coach Karen Boots has assumed the responsibilties and did a great job considering the situation. The Page Lady Patriots took on cross-town rivals Franklin Lady Rebels coached by former Page Middle Coach Kim Miller and came out the winners 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-18). Page was led by Nicole Smith with 13 Kills, 1 Block, 3 Aces, & 1 Assist. The second leading scorers were tied with 9 pts each as Jennifer Sorensen had 2 Kills, 7 Aces, & 2 Assists and Molly Locke had 8 Kills, 1 Ace & 1 Assist. Other players getting points and/or assists were Setter Cassidy Smith with 5 Kills, 2 Aces & 18 Assists, Chelsea Rion with 5 Kills & 2 Assists, & Allie Schmidt had 2 Assists. Franklin was led by Julie Barnes with 13 Kills, 1 Block & 1 Ace. Other players with pts and/or assists were Bri Stewart with 3 Kills & 5 Blocks, Mady Burnett with 1 Kill, 2 Aces & 9 Assists, Coral Evans with 3 Kills, Kasey King with 2 Kills & 1 Assist, Sara Covington with 2 Aces & 1 Assist, Jacqueline Critchlow with 2 Kills, & Alesha Humphrey with 1 Ace & 8 Assists. 3. Yes, send it to me at wtunst9053@aol.com. I'm using a new method that also involves spreadsheets and tick marks, but I'm always open to new ideas.
  4. Does your team use electronic devices on the bench, such as hand-held PDA's, to track each touch of the ball?
  5. Well, I don't feel so bad now. I'm guessing you have serve %, attack %, and other such useful stats. I only keep number of Kills, Aces, Blocks, Assists, Attack Errors, Service Errors and detail on AE if they are BHE's, Rotation Errors, or Net Violations. I do this for both teams however.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to post WC's stats, play4keeps. I wish I had the brain power to keep digs. I have enough trouble keeping up with assists from the dig to the kill. I guess that Ferron girl must be a setter.

  18. I have entered Greenbrier's full roster, including freshmen, so that all their players will receive some recognition. I obtained the full roster from Coach Renee Dorris so it should be correct. Greenbrier Roster: http://tennessee.coacht.com/inside/roster....amp;seasonid=73
  19. First, I want to welcome you, catsfan20, to the volleyball board as I always enjoy reading what Greenbrier fans say. Greenbrier has my respect and any pre-season predictions by newspaper reporters or others are to be taken with a grain of salt. Greenbrier was indeed flying under the radar a couple of years ago, but now they are the defending A-AA champs and should have the respect of everyone. They have some upcoming matches against AAA teams where they will show how strong they are. Coach Renee Dorris has some good players to work with and I'm sure they will contend to the state title again this year.
  20. Thanks for the info on Morgan, Phil. I was wondering if she is going to play basketball as well?

  22. The attendance was fairly decent for the opening AAA match Phil, but thinned out by the A-AA match as the AAA supporters left the gym. Most in attendance for both matches were parents and friends of the players and I know the TACA officials wished there had been more general support for the matches to help the gate receipts.
  23. Here are the results of the 22nd annual TACA All-Star Volleyball matches held at Centennial High School. AAA: West 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 28-26, 25-23) A-AA: West 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-16, 27-25) AAA Team Summaries for the Match: West: 42 Kills, 11 Aces, 4 Blocks - 30 Attack Errors, 4 Service Errors East: 42 Kills, 4 Aces, 7 Blocks - 31 Attack Errors, 11 Services Errors West Player Positive Points: #8 Deedee Harrison - 17 Kills, 1 Block #14 Frances Ferree - 9 Kills, 2 Aces, 1 Block #12 Becca Brewster - 7 Kills, 3 Aces, 2 Blocks #18 Jennifer Maher - 5 Kills, 1 Ace #17 Halley Wiggins - 2 Kills, 1 Block #0 Brittany Schroeder - 1 Kill, 3 Aces #31 Marie Mullins - 1 Kill, 2 Aces East Player Positive Points: #13 Stephanie Sarago - 7 Kills, 2 Aces, 3 Blocks #18 Stephanie Harville - 9 Kills, 1 Block #12 Ellee Agee - 8 Kills, 2 Blocks #7 Amanda Mitchell - 8 Kills, 1 Ace #15 Courtney Cotter - 5 Kills, 1 Ace, 1 Block #26 Gretchen Higdon - 5 Kills A-AA Team Summaries for the Match: West: 40 Kills, 14 Aces, 6 Blocks - 26 Attack Errors, 9 Service Errors East: 41 Kills, 9 Aces, 3 Blocks - 26 Attack Errors, 11 Service Errors West Player Positve Points: #10 Christa Hutchison - 13 Kills, 3 Aces #7 Aynne Swindell - 12 Kills, 2 Aces, 1 Block #20 Amber Turner - 4 Kills, 4 Aces #13 Jessica Williamson - 3 Kills, 2 Aces, 3 Blocks #12 Andrea Townsend - 2 Kills, 2 Aces, 2 Blocks #14 Emily Lancaster - 3 Kills, 1 Ace #11 Shelbi Turner - 3 Kills East Player Positive Points: #9 Jessica Lane - 11 Kills, 1 Ace, 2 Blocks #10 Katie Clinard - 11 Kills #14 Becca Forbes - 9 Kills, 2 Aces, 1 Block #3 Lindsey Bibee - 6 Kills, 1 Ace #6 Sara Fowler - 2 Kills, 3 Aces #12 Emily Hayes - 2 Kills, 1 Ace #20 Brittany Preston - 1 Block All of the above stats are unofficial and I know I missed a couple of points. I will not make a detailed analysis of why one team won and one didn't as these matches are exhibitons and the players did not get a lot of practice time. Their were some errors, but I thought the play was fairly good in both matches. It was good to see all the players, coaches, and parents for the final time in their high school careers. I will miss all these Seniors as they move on with their lives.
  24. Good observation, P4K, I wondered where these former HS players were going next year. When I posted the roster, I wanted to include their college school, but didn't know all of them. Maybe some posters can supply this info.
  25. I am also puzzled by the absence of players from AC, GPS, and Dobyns-Bennett. It could be possible that the coaches of these teams are not members of TACA and therefore could not nominate their players. This is just a guess on my part. I will ask around Sat. about the selection process to see if there is something I am missing and will try to clarify the situation. I believe these matches are a fund raiser for TACA and not Centennial. I assume that TACA gets the gate receipts and Centennial gets the proceeds from their concession stand. I will post a report here Sat. night with the scores and list some of the outstanding players I saw, but in reality, these matches are more of a going away party for these seniors as some go on the play college ball. It will be good to see the players from Greenbrier, Brentwood, DCA, Page, Franklin, Ravenwood, Hillsboro, Father Ryan, Centennial, and the other schools that I have followed over the years.
