  1. South's gym is pretty much the same size as Volunteer, Boone, Crockett, Greeneville. These all seem pretty similar. At one time I know that Sullivan North was the only college sized floor in the area, that may have changed here recently.
  2. Good luck to DB tomorrow night. I have seen both teams play a couple of times this year and when DB is hitting they are by far the best team in this area. I think their second five could beat a lot of teams in this area. It would be nice to SH/DB in the regional championship.
  3. Cap1, give it up...Everyone knows that this is you under a different name. All you have to do is look back at Cougarfan22's post and notice that every one of them has something to do with TN High. Neutral refs = SH by about 15.
  4. I will have to agree with you. When Central got that big lead they didn't do the things to keep the lead and bury Volunteer, instead they took quick shots and allowed them to trim a 17 point lead very quickly. No excuses, Central just didn't make the plays to win. And it is not like Central lost to a bad team, Volunteer has some good players (Browder and Bennett). While it was disappointing to be put out so early it was something everyone knew could be a possibility seeing as how tight the conference was this year. I hope people do not get the wrong idea about every kid on Volunteer's team though, because Browder for one does NOT play like that and is a good kid. But there are 4 or 5 players for them who seem to share the same "post moves"
  5. marronandgrey, thought you might like to see these clips: Big 8 Boys Highlights (probably around '94 or '95) Dobyns-Bennett Basketball Highlights (also around 94 or 95) Good luck to DB in the finals.
  6. Glad I am not the only one who was thinking this same thing.
  7. They wanted to give the team who finished 1st in the conference an automatic bid into the regionals.
  8. If it is not that important and doesn't carry much weight then why start a thread about it?
  9. Cap1, since you have such a problem with the Central fans why don't you come up to us and say something? You know who we are why don't you just come up to us at the game and tell us what you think? Oh yeah that's right, you will only get on here and say something where you can hide behind a keyboard. I have an idea, next time I see you at a game lets see if you will come up to my face and call me a redneck?
  10. Volunteer got upset by Boone tonight, so that means Crockett has to beat TN High for us to even have a chance at 3rd.
  11. Yeah I think Morgan is a good coach but look at what he has to work with. DB's 2nd five off the bench could beat a lot of the teams in the Big 9. DB is definitely playing better than anyone in the conference right now. But answer this, what do you think had more to do with DB's turn around since Christmas, Coty coming back or coaching? But like I said I think Morgan is a good coach and if you look at his track record it seems that all his teams do not peak til tourney time and that is always a good thing. So you are right, Vaughn and Witcher are not "hands down" the 2 best coaches, but to me they get the most out of what they have.
  12. I did not really have that big of a problem with Omar not shaking hands. I think a lot of times teams should do like the NBA and not shake hands after the game. It is hard to compete against someone for 32 minutes then have to all of sudden let it go. The problem I had was that he lied and said he didn't shake hands because a Central player said something to him while in the line. And I am not saying what Wes did was right. What I am saying is that just giving him a technical and not the kid from TN High was unfair and changed the game completely.
  13. What do you mean alumni refs?!? None of those refs went to Central. If you would have seen the play with Wes under the goal you would have seen the guy from TN High grab Wes' leg and pull him down. That being said Wes should have realized that the team needed him and should have just let it go. But that is a hard thing to do when the refs let them get away with crap like that all night. TN High plays great zone defense and it is no secret that we do not play well against a zone. We just do not get enough penetration to break the zone down and get our shooters open looks from the outside. I give a lot of credit to TN High's coaching staff. This team only has one player with a lot of talent (Young). The rest of the guys just buy into the system and it works. I think Coach Witcher and Coach Vaughn are hands down the 2 best coaches in the Big 9. Anyone know how the tie breaker will go down if we can beat Volunteer and Boone next week?
  14. Maybe he wouldn't have lost his cool if Jeff Baker didn't hold and twist his leg after Wes swatted his stuff into the 3rd row. That was the turning point of the game. All the refs had to do was separate the 2 and it was over. But no, they have to give one of Central's players a T. Why do you even need to know? Why don't you just ask 2 of those refs what happened when you guys go with them to the Bahamas again next year? In the 2 games we have played TN High this year we have had a certain ref both times and he has been terrible both times.
  15. So by giving credit to the coaches you mean like when he is getting beat by about 15 points to Central he looks at the ETSU players in the stands, shakes his head and says "It's all coaching." Is that the credit you are talking about? Maybe he just acts like this against Central. We will see when DB plays SH because I don't see SH beating them.
  16. This would be a good argument if you actually had some facts to back it up. When was the last time a AAA state winner came from the Knoxville area? I bet it is longer than 95. And your argument that a "Far East" team usually gets beat bad at state may be true, but they at least made it to the state by beating a Knoxville team. Also, Science Hill did not play Raleigh-Egypt last year in the state because SH did not make it to state. Get your facts straight on here before you make an argument.
  17. She has already got on here made so comment about "getting healthy". Barb, answer this, how come Duncan never went to a 2-3 zone? After you get down by about 20 in the first half you might wanna switch things up.
  18. Dude I was at the game and it was not even close. Omar made Wiggins look like a kid out there tonight.
  19. Science Hill was without a doubt the best team on the floor tonight. Omar dominated Wiggins tonight on the defensive end. I would say he stripped him probably 6 times. That was probably the best game I have seen from him this year. He made big shots and got his teammates involved. Greeneville was not ready for what they experienced tonight, which is how it is every time you play a top team in the Big 9. You cannot get ready for the pressure you seen tonight playing teams like Cherokee. IMAC was 0-3 tonight against the Big 9, with TN High and DB also winning. Is there anybody else from the IMAC who thinks the Big 9 is weak?
  20. I did the math and DB is averaging a little over 22 wins a season. That is pretty good considering in the early days they didn't play nearly the amount of games that they play do now. I would like to see how many wins some schools would have if you added in their wins from the schools that they were consolidated from. I don't think any would be near 2000 but it would be interesting to see.
  21. Nice to see that you are getting back on here Art. Where were you when things were going rough for the Tribe? At least WaCoJaCo was on here making his usual sophomoric comments that nobody found funny. If you are going to get on here and brag about DB and its tradition and how you are a part of it then make sure to be a part of it when things aren't going your way. And don't think that game against TN High is going to be easy. They are a lot better than me or anyone else thought they would be. Woooosh!
  22. That was the most people I have seen at a Central game in like 15 years. Great atmosphere tonight. I wish the Cougars could have delayed DB getting that win tonight but it didn't happen. Did anyone see the 2 interviews with Throp on the TV tonight? Throp gave a lot of respect to the Cougars and showed a lot of class. He also made sure to ask Rock if he was OK when him and Sylvester took that spill underneath the bucket. With Sensabaugh back this team is shaping up to be what everyone thought they would be. Are they now that much more talented or better than everyone else? No, it just seems like the other players fit into their role better now that he is there.
  23. He acts like that every time he plays Central. He done the same thing last year in the districts when Central beat them, he wouldn't shake any of their hands during the all-tourney selections. But I still hope that SH waxes the floor with Greeneville. It will be the battle between the most overrated player in the state (THE Omar) vs the most overrated team in the state (Greeneville).
  24. That video does not even begin to show how little class Omar showed that night.
  25. Sullivan Central defeats Science Hill tonight by about 11 or 13 at the Topper Palace. It took Central awhile to get going but they stayed in the same groove they have been in since the loss to TN High. Wes Baker was out for this game but will be back Tuesday against Virginia High. Anyone who was at the game got to hear the speech made over the PA about sportsmanship but obviously Omar must have been taking a nap or something during this because he showed some of the worst sportsmanship I have ever seen. To begin with he did not shake any Central players hand during the pre-game tip off. After that he tries to talk trash and get into the face of any Central player that guards him. And then after the game is pretty much in hand and Central is just trying to pass the ball around during the last few seconds Omar steals the ball, makes a layup and then throws the ball into the stomach of the Central player standing out of bounds and then decides he needs to scream the F-bomb repeatedly. And for his final performance he only walks half-way through the line to shake hands and shakes no Central's players hand. And these are just a few examples. What a class act. Funniest thing about the whole game was that Courtney Pigram, Andrew Reed and some other ETSU players were at the game and they had to be saying to themselves "We are over here playing at ETSU and this guy is going to Georgetown?!?"
