  1. Has anyone checked out WBIR and the News-Sentinel's Prep Xtra voting? The kid from Midway has over 500,000 votes. His next challenger is only 440,000 behind. Something sounds really fishy. Just think, the entire state of Rhode Island didn't have that many Presidential votes in 2000 -- craziness isn't it?
  2. Unaka is favored tonight, but don't overlook Jellico. The team was under .500 for the year, but they have some real athletes. Senior forward Kevin Swafford (who averages around 24 ppg) dropped 41 points on Forge Ridge in the district tournament. He's a threat inside and outside as well as an outstanding football player (WR, over 1,000 yards last year). Jellico also has the streaky William Kellogg. He's good for either 4 points or 25 points, their really is no middle ground.
  3. I've been looking everywhere... The Knoxville News-Sentinal, The Oak Ridger, ect. I can't find the District 3-AAA All-Tournament team. Does anyone know who all made it? Thanks
  4. KeKe Stewart of Oak Ridge had to get my vote, she plays well beyond her years.
  5. In what was probably one of the best girls' games I've seen in years the Oak Ridge Wildcats pulled out a win over the Campbell County Lady Cougars 54-47. The Knoxville News-Sentinal had it wrong saying the Wildcats trailed through three quarters. They were actually ahead 35-34 going into the fourth. Campbell County did regain the lead, however, at 45-44 as CCHS post-player Callie Cornett hit an inside bank off the glass. After four consecutive Oak Ridge points, two on a jumpshot by Stephanie Holbrook and two on Angela Phillips freethrows, the Lady Wildcats had regained their lead and led 48-45. Ashley Henegar, who earlier this season eclipsed the 1000-point barrier for CCHS, scored two of her 13 points inside on the Lady Cougars next possession, making the score 48-47, Oak Ridge. From there it was all Oak Ridge as they converted 6-of-6 from the free throw line (4-of-4 for Angela Phillips.) The win moves Oak Ridge to 25-1 on the season, while dropping Campbell County to 18-5. Angela Phillips led all scorers with 18 points (12-of-13 free-throws). Seniors Ashley Henegar and Kristy Marlow led CCHS with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
  6. Campbell County senior Ashley Henegar passed the 1000-point mark earlier this season. She's averaging 15 points and five rebounds a game this season on her 12-3 Lady Cougar squad.
