honestly we just didn't step up and play well enough to win. bradley played exceptionally well also, and were up 2-0 about 5 minutes into the match. we were able to cut it to 2-1 about 2 minutes later, but were just off the rest of the game. definately not the way i wanted to end my career, but not taking anything away from bradley, the earned the win. good luck to all district 5-aaa teams the rest of the year. assuming any games get played this week...

bradley 4-1

yah we finished 0-3-1, in 5th i am assuming, i guess we'll be facing bradley in the play in game again since cumberland beat them, but i'm not real clear on how all this is gonna shake out

tied 1-1. we were up 1-0 with about 2 or 3 minutes left when the refs decided to be heros and call a hand ball in the box, resulting in a p.k. the ref made the call from roughly 70 yards away, and made the poor call in awarding a penalty kick. it wasn't even in the box in my opinion, i was right there next to the play and saw it happen. the cumberland coach even said 'rhea county you guys won this game and got screwed, you deserved to win it'. its just part of it though, not to take anything away from cumberland, they played great, its just too bad it had to end in such controversy.

does anyone know who won this match?

what breaks a 3 way tie in a district? goals scored or goal differential? or something else...? anyone know? [Edited by soccerfan423 on 4-23-03 8:47P]

i think all of our scores are on our schedule page on coacht...we are not having the kind of year we were hoping for. we start several freshmen and guys who haven't played before, all of them are miles ahead of where they were in march, but we just aren't scoring. our defense has improved a great deal...but offensively we can't seem to put shots away. for example, in our last game against loudon, we outshot them 26-9 and lost 3-1. so the opportunities are there, we just aren't finishing. but i think that in the future rhea county will continue to improve with coach mitchell there, he really has made a huge difference.

does anyone know who won this game a few days ago? soccer info has it being 4-1, mcminn. a score this close seems a bit suspect, but who knows...any info would be appreciated

rhea lost to chatt. central 4-0. we really didn't show up and play well at all. don't count on that happening again, at least i sure as heck hope it won't. cumberland tied anderson county 1-1. thats all i know of.

oh,well glad that is straightened up. Rhea's game against ooltewah today has been canceled, ooltewah called and said they couldnt make the trip but the Walker Valley game is still on at 5:30 assuming the field will be playable they have been working on getting the water off all morning

drsoccer, nice predictions. however, we (rhea) beat bradley twice last year, 2-1 in the regular season and 3-0 in the district tournament. i just don't see how we are still considered behind them too. maybe the rest but we were clearly better than bradley last year and since all that anyone can go on for next season is what happened last year, i don't see us being behind bradley. just my opinion.

the YMCA over here has had youth leagues in the past and i believe they have got a decent one going now...there is a traveling team of middle school players that play teams out of chattanooga, etc. our feeder programs are improving and i expect for rhea county to begin to become more competitive in the future. the real problem is getting good athletes to take up soccer, with football being so big over here everything...haha ok this is getting strung out so i'll end it now.

yah we had a pretty good year. we lost 12 seniors though...most of our scoring and our goalie who made all district tournament team in his first year playing soccer. we will miss him in the goal a lot. we have a lot of freshmen playing this year so if some of them can step up i think we will be alright. it should be an interesting year in our district. i'm looking forward to it. thanks for the info on yall and cleveland.

actually i don't konw much...i am trying to find out what i can about them. i play for rhea co. and am trying to find out what i can about the district. i had to mark those hispanic twins last year...lets just say i am glad they graduated...anybody know anything on cleveland?

can anyone tell me who the cherokees will have back this year that have significant varsity experience? i heard they were hit hard by graduation.

what about district 6? who are the teams too look our for from that district. i know soddy and ooltewah are usually the front runners. can we look for this to continue? also who are some of the individuals to watch for from these districts?

this has recently been a 2 team district with mcminn and cleveland being far superior to the other 3 teams, can we expect this to continute in 2003 or can cumberland, rhea, or bradley compete with the big dogs this year? any information on these teams would be greatly appreciated.
