Some of us were talking today about HS football and the conversation came up about coaching. We were talking about what is a good coach. Is it how many wins? Is it how many players go to the next level? Is it how well liked the coach is? I would like to hear from all of you what you think it is that makes a good coach. NO COACH BASHING PLEASE

I have heard that they have some good athletes and a good coach. I would think that they will finish in the upper portion of the region. It's real early though. It's a big jump from JV to Varisty ball.

I would like to know about how Eagleville Football is going? Who is the Coach? How good are they? Thanks, CDS

It seems that in the past few seasons MC has got away from what they were doing best. From what I have seen it has been a mistake. Seems like the players and fans lack confidence in the coaching. Lets hope it does not happen this year. I know most of the players and wish them well and a lot of success in this coming up season. GO BLUE!

Playing aginst the 4-4 I loved to block it, the team I played for we always ran the score up on that type of defense. The wing-t is a smashmouth offense that requires alot of pulling. So a good way to stop it is to bring everybody and there third cousin and play smash mouth defense and if there are any wideouts hold them up on the line. But the main way is to try and stop it with the players you have and not try to run a college type defense.

Saterfield and Mcurry when they were in 1A, the coach at Ezell, Mickey Marely, Bruceton's coach and the coach at CPA.

My choices would be Trousdale County when they played 1A, Moore County, USJ, Bruceton, South Pitt, Huntland in 98 and 99, Collinwood in 01 and 02. Wayne County was pretty good at one time and Cascade may be on the rise.

I'am not sure they will go 10-0 but the region is down this year, so they might do okay and if Bill Parcells came to Lynchburg.

I would think that they will be improved some this year but still short on depth. Like all small schools, a injury to a key player could make a lot of difference.
