  1. I don't think coaching or players is the issue. It starts with lack of leadership with the principal, AD, and a couple of school board members. They are more worried about personal gain than what is best for the school and kids. No coach will win on a regular basis with how the school system is being operated.
  2. "He without sin cast the first stone"- The big factor is gather information and let the admin talk with him. They might be surprised what they find out. Not my place to answer those questions why or how it all shook out. Talking is the key. Not sure he even wants the job.
  3. It isn't 1914 anymore. Ethics have changed. Just work at a public high school for a day. If anyone thinks they are singing church hyms and playing hop scotch; then your in for a surprise. Many teachers personal lives aren't totally pure. Heard of facebook? So to say it would be an unethical hire isn't correct. Teenagers today need someone to relate to. Many kids live in broken homes and see far worse than what took place. Schools pay thousands of dollars each year to have motivational speakers come in who have been to prison for drugs or whatever. Heck, Mac might just show them how you can change your life for the better and people can come back from mistakes. Isn't that the point of being saved in church???? Media is all about reporting bad news. Rarely do they give both sides of the story. Sometimes you just have to think and research for your self instead of depending on others to make up your mind.
  4. People in general love gossip. Perception is greater than reality. Every story has two sides. Looking at Franklin County's past track record of hiring football coaches, seems not much they have left to lose. Since what 2001 they have had 5 coaches? Not sure how many had 5A head coaching gigs before hand. Does Mac really want the job?Is a freshman team coach really what the doctor ordered?A first year head coach? Or a coach looking for a retirement home? From all reports, FC doesn't pay very well and you do not get an athletic period. Don't think they will break the bank either. Rankin ain't walking through those doors anytime soon.
  5. Everybody falls short. Outstanding coach, great motivator and great teacher. There are many, many coaches who have made mistakes. Every place Coach Mac has been his former players have ALWAYS came to support him. Even all the way to Ripley,MS. He treated us with great respect . He would transform the program. I think its important to know all the facts on people. It's a very important hire for FC. Coach Mac is a FC grad and he will fill that big empty stadium and stop the exodus of players to that team up the road.
  6. I hear Warren Co. used to be real tough back in the day. You would think this time they would go for coach who has experince with winning. Not saying a first time coach isn't the way to go. Just my two cents, Mac is an excellent coach and motivator. I have no clue if Mac is interested or has applied. But let me say this, I have known him since I was 8. The man has a good heart. He would hold special ceremonies for the handicapped at games, he was involved in the youth league, ran football camps and Mac would often stop by and help people haul hay in the community. A far cry more than any other coach since in Lynchburg. People make poor choices and should be held accountable. If you want to winner and builder he is the man.
  7. What about Steve Brittan? He is a Warren Co. boy. Any interest? I hear a state championship winning coach is in the running. I would call Mac.
  8. I would say your right.Just throwing info out about what the wish list will be for a few. It's almost Christmas you know...
  9. The answer could be just down the road... you never know. It's like this all coaches want to win the gold ball. However, if the school can provide a good supplement, maybe a car dealer provide a car for the coach during the season, a field crew, weight lifting period and minor control over the football operations, the job could turn a few heads. Why would any kid want to be part of 0-10, 2-8 teams? Winning attracts talent. I would rather play Red Boiling Springs instead of Oakland any day of the week if I had to pick. just saying. Good luck to C.C.
  10. With the right coach and proper schedule managment, 6-4, 7-3 isn't out of the question on a yearly basis. I would think C.C would go for a experinced head coach this time, maybe a a coach with a state championship on his resume. On the players, like the movie Field of Dreams: "build it and they will come" Good luck, the kids deserve it.
  11. I hear the music, I can see the clown car and elephants... , break out the dancing bear! the circus is back in town.
  12. This could end up being a new rivalry. Roughly 30 mins apart. City could be the new South Pitt some say. Best wishes to the baby blue. Not sure how many years it has been or if ever MC was shut out by Chapel Hill and WC in the same year or WC shuting them out at home. I am sure the ole ball coach will right the ship and live up to the 'best team since 99" billing. Beat those tigers!
  13. I haven't seen Jasper play but Chatt. Central has some athletes. They will bring the house every play on D. Going with Coach Mac and the warriors.
  14. Yall are being too nice. It's MC vs WC week! This game used to be huge. Surely Coach Rice will pull out the baby blue chants again! (1996 game) . When we shared the DRVC this game decided the district champion. Does the visitor locker room still smell like human waste with no door lock? Game ball with no air, bad lighting and all. The good ole days.
  15. The hometown boy is a double edge sword. Sometimes a hometown guy can bring a program down and ruin the chances of other local boys for years to come. Hiring outside the circle fades tradition and outsiders may not have the passion for the school and community. It's a tough choice. Sometimes inside jobs can prevail too. Sometimes new blood is needed. But the hometown boy could lead the program to new heights because of his love of the program. As lou Holtz told his team when he took the South Carolina job," men, you may not have picked me as your coach. you may have wanted a bigger named coach, but I picked you". Taking a guy who really wants the job instead of well wishing can a long way. I was all on the Jon Gruden ship but Butch Jones seems pretty good so far.
