  1. RadioJet06, I just looked up the scores from the Frontier Women's Open, and the Hunt girl was 14 over par, period. Now, I never said you never watched a junior golf match. You asked where I"VE been all summer and I told you. If you've watched more than 12 junior tournaments this summer (like me), then you have my apologies. Following CCHS? Good...high school sports need all the boosters they can get. Okay, all better now? About Brooke P. from Baylor: I know her and her family, but can't really tell about her post-high school direction. All I can say is, she's --reall--y good and more consistent than most, but she's a lot more fun to be around when she's playing well than when she's not.
  2. Chill out, friend! Where've I been all summer?? On the road, every week, actually --seeing-- junior golfers from all over the U.S, in action, not just sitting around chatting about kids I've never seen. Barging in here?? Excuuuuuse me, I didn't realize you had to be invited in. Tell me what I said that's not true....?
  3. This girl did win the School Days tournament in Nashville, but not the Bubba Conlee. She's won a couple more events in the past month or so; really great summer season.
  4. No, she wasn't "Awesome" at the Women's Open, but she was +14, not +22, so get your facts straight. And remember, juniors, amateurs, and pros all play in this event. She finished 30th overall out of over 100 women; not too bad. And finished 10th of 65 amateurs.
  5. If this Cates kid is so good, why isn't he nationally ranked? He needs to get out there and show his stuff on one of the junior tours: SJGT, USJGT, AJGA, etc. They have events all year long, and especially the SJGT and USJGT are not too tough to get in to. If he's as good as you say, he'll have no problem getting a national ranking. HIGH SCHOOL GOLF ALONE WILL NOT EVEN GET YOU A LOOK BY ANY COLLEGE COACH, LET ALONE A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP (and you can forget about the PGA). Regular 9-hole high school matches are essentially meaningless in the junior golf world. You gotta go up against some real competition, man!
  6. Can anyone tell me where/how to find the posted tee times & pairings for the Ross Creek golf event that will be played on Monday, August 25? The TGA is running it, but the Golf House of Tennessee is closed up for the weekend. The pro shop @ Ross Creek has no info, and we can't find anything on the Golf House website. Help! Need to know within the next 24 hours!! Thanks!
  7. National Junior Golf Scoreboard ranks Pettitt 175th nationally as of 3/30/03. Very respectable, but a far cry from 14th! Where did that come from?
  8. Once again, duckbutterbandit....... no girls' results. What's up with that??
  9. Does anyone know if Tennessee names an 'All-State' golf team (boys or girls), and if so, -who- chooses the players, and what are the criteria? We've heard from several different people that there is an all-state team, but we can't find any info anywhere. TSSAA says on their website they do NOT pick these teams.
  10. The girls golf teams are not yet quite as competitive as the boys'. We've seen 9-hole scores ranging anywhere from even par to 30-over. The 'A' players we've seen typically shoot 40 or below. If your daughter has an interest in playing, I say, 'go for it!'. My daughter has played one season for her high school so far, and she had a blast! Good luck!
  11. Congratulations to -all- the players that made All Mid-State Golf teams!! Don't forget the girls! 1st Team Elizabeth Dotson, Creek Wood Jr. Jamey Dillard, Davidson Academy Jr. Rebekah Wilson, DCA Sr. Mookie Janyasak, FRA Sr. Lorie Warren, Hendersonville So. Audra Williams, Harpeth Sr. 2nd Team Lauren Oeser, Davidson Academy So. Ginna Beazley, Davidson Academy Jr. Sara Hunt, Columbia Central Fr. Taylor Cooper, Rossview Jr. Brittney Beard, Brentwood Sr. Kellie O'Connell, Wilson Central So. 3rd Team Ashleigh Garman, St. Cecilia Jr. Calle Neilson, University School of Nashville 8th grade Shelly Green, Clarksville Sr. Ashley Lance, Franklin Road Academy 8th grade Kate Austin, Brentwood Academy Sr. Christina Han, Centennial Sr. [Edited by sweetswing on 1-16-03 5:51P]
