  1. You know this happens every year in the playoffs on this board. I remember back in 2000 when the old Alcoa group started talking trash. Absolutely the worst ever on any board. The new Alcoa group doesn't seem to have that problem. Then in 2002 it was the folks from Mitchell. Now it appears to be happening again. I have no dog in this hunt but don't use cheap tactics and ploys to fire your team up. Being a guy from the mid-state I know the FCS program is solid and they do the right things there. Stirring up stuff like this to fire your team up just makes you look small.
  2. I was impressed with Riverside last night. The first time I had seen them play. They have gumption and guts and that really goes a long way. Congrats on a good season.
  3. Talent wise they are not bad. But the slip that started in 2002 continues. The offseason will be very interesting.
  4. Proabably done for the year. May be later in the week before it's confirmed but that's the most likely result.
  5. This one won't be close. The Cougar defense is just poorly coached. Lipscomb 35-14. Man I hate saying that.
  6. Oh I'm relaxed. I just think it's funny. It happens every year and I like to give a little of it back. That's all.
  7. Why is it everytime we play somebody that needs a win we get some random that all of the sudden joins the message board a few days before the game and tries posting as someone from GP. Look, if you're going to pretend like you're from Goodpasture at least have the decency to steal someones userid that's been around for awhile. It will lend a little more credibility to your efforts. I'll still see right through it but at least you will have put forth some kind of real effort.

  9. I was thinking football season of 96. They officially graduated in 97. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Their senior season was 96 when they won mr football. As for Perry. I see them finishing second in the region with a 7-3 season. Respectable I think. Not doom and gloom like the melodramatic post you made. Solid not great is how I see it.
  10. He graduated in 96 and both he and Fontenot won it that year. But I agree they won't be better than that team this year. Brown was a heck of a player. I played against one of the Brown boys in baseball. I think it was maybe Brent but don't hold me to that. Pitcher. He could throw it pretty well as I remember.
  11. Yeah Perry I'm not a fan. Have no clue what I'm talking about. You lose your top rusher in Alford, top four pass catchers in Turner, Cripps, Alford, and Tice, your senior quaterback, both punters, and your top guy in interceptions. Quite frankly things haven't been the same since the Ricky Eberlie and Chase Eakes left in 2001. I still don't think the program ever replaced their leadership. Those linebackers were unbelievable. Eakes should have won the Mr. Football that year. Of course the 1999 squad had Shaka Hill and Chase Eakes alternating at fullback and together rushed for nearly 2000 yards. You had Knox and Baskin who doubled as DB's and WR's and were all state caliber at both. Hart was a decent QB and their line was as solid as you get in the lower classes. The 1996 team was probably the most talented team to ever go through. They went 14-1 losing to Webb in that title game. If I'm not mistaken Maurice and Fontenot both won Mr. Football. They were something. Of course people forget they won it in 1995 with a very similiar group. That Meigs team was something else and may have had more ablility at a number of positions. That was an enjoyable night. But I have no clue what I'm talking about. I'll just go sit in the corner and let a 12 year old from my school run everyone else down.
  12. You've asked the 20 million dollar question? They've always been a wing t but I don't know if they are really suited for that style. Their QB will be better but can those young guys get the job done at receiver. Lots of questions to be answered.
  13. Perry as a Cougar fan I ask you to please stop posting. You've run your mouth on here for the last year or so and you are an embarassment. We've been drilled in the playoffs the last three years. This year we've lost our quarterback, fullback, and wide receivers from last year just to name a few. It's time to build this season but you running your mouth doesn't make it any easier. So please quit ripping everyone else and worry about yourself. If your not from Goodpasture quit trying to get everyone else fired up just because you have a grudge.
  14. I think the question you can ask about Goodpasture is how good have they been defensively in big games since losing their defensive coordinator after the 02 season. I can only think of one game where defensively against a top opponent that they played pretty well. The fact is they took a wrong turn and still think it was the right one. Just an opinion.
  15. I think it is Huntingdon an Alcoa and everyone else this year. Goodpasture will also be a down a bit so I don't rank them as highly. Tyner has skill people back as does Westview 1. Alcoa 2. Huntingdon 3. Westview 4. Tyner 5. CPA 6. Milan 7. Goodpasture 8. DCA 9. Boyd Buchanon 10. USJ 10. Smith Co.
  16. I agree it's all politics. In remember in 2001 when Harrell won it. He wasn't the best high school player that year. He took plays off and much like Turner was on the sideline half the time. Most people felt the Eakes kid deserved it. He beat all those guys in the playoffs and they shut Harrell and Westview out in the Championship game. But a 5'11 205 pound kid wasn't going to win it over a UT committment. That's the way it's always been and always will be. I little revenge this year I guess. Congrats to Turner and represent Tennessee well at the next level.
  17. Lipscomb never plays goodpasture in the second round. Goodpasture will have to finish third in order for that to happen this season.

They were the talk of the town that year and went out and earned it. It's were they really came on the scene.

The other thing about Alcoa is there trip to the semi's may be the easiest of all four sections. For example Goodpasture and Tyner will have to meet in the second round most likely. Then the winner will most likely face Lipscomb. Alcoa and Rockwood are about it when it comes even possible tough opponents on that side. And we will see how tough it really is tonight. My gues is that it won't be that tough. That's a huge advantage for Alcoa if you ask me. That as much as anything is the reason they have to be number 1. Not to mention a ton of talent. If they win handily tonight then I'll go ahead and call them semifinalists.

Actually I omitted their division II record. So they actually have 30 losses and not 17.

Goodpasture, I don't see them folding too often. They may or may not have the talent to beat a certain team but folding they will not do. Plus every year is different. Nothing in high school football ever remains the same. This years 2A teams are different than last years teams. And in ten years from now there will be new contenders and teams that used to be contenders will have fallen on hard times. That's high school football and graduation for you. So some of these general comparisons to last year or even a programs tradition just don't stand up when it comes to comparing this years squads.

Actually Tyner has more athletes just about every year than those two teams. Also Alcoa had more athelete in 2001 but lost on a blocked punt in the semi's. I also thought that Meigs Co. team had just as many athletes in 95. Westview had more athletes in 01 inluding Justin Harrell, and there Mr. Football finalist running back. I'll also tell you that as far as athletes go Mitchell had just as many as Lipscomb. With these two schools coaching goes a long way in their results.

I've been following this a while so I'll give you guys a refresh and kind of what I see this year. In 94 Lipscomb won the state. In 95 Goodpasture won the state over a very good Meigs Co. team. In 96 a 14-0 Goodpasture team lost to an incredible Webb team. In 97 it was all Tyner all the time. In 98 it was Milan knocking off Lipscomb. It wasn't as close as the score In 99 Goodpasture beat Huntingdon pretty badly In 2000 Alcoa and Union City played a classic. Both teams had tons of athletes. In 01 Goodpastures defense, especially their linebackers were awesome. Beat Westview 14-0. In 02 it was Lipscomb easily over Mitchell. In 03 Huntingdon put on a show that was unbelievable. It was so good I don't know if they could have repeated it again. They were unbeatable in that game. This year any of the three teams from the West can win it. It will come down to the end of a couple of games to decide it between Milan, Huntingdon, and Westview. As for the east. I don't think regions 4 and 3 are nearly as good as they have been. Tyner will beat Goodpasture in round 2 because they are just so young. Lipscomb will beat Tyner in round three because Tyner tends to turn the ball over a bunch against Lipscomb. Then it gets to Alcoa. I believe they are the best team in 2A. I'm not just saying that as an Alcoa fan because I live in middle TN and I'm not an Alcoa fan. I believe they get by Lipscomb and put on a bit of a show in the finals. Not that they will be much better than there opponent I just see somewhat of a role reversal from last year. I think Alcoa wins it all.
  25. I checked the Goodpasture sight and it looks pretty up to date to me. Stats, Audio, Articles, Region Schedules and rankings. They all look pretty up to date.
