  1. The Grassland Rising 11u Commanders will be holding tryouts Sunday August 7th from 4-6pm. Grassland is between Brentwood, Franklin, and Bellevue just south of Old Hickory Blvd on Hillsboro Rd. In order to qualify a player can't turn 12 before April 30, 2017. If interested in trying out contact Chris at 615-525-0009.
  2. Nope. Not going to Stewarts Creek. I am not a Goodpasture Alum so I already have my own school that I cheer for. I honestly think that the sooner Goodpasture cleans house with the admin the better. I see it going the way of Davidson. The location has hurt it for years and honestly I would say within the next 3 or 4 years it will be Davidson Part II.
  3. No offense to Goodpasture but you guys are hosed. You're fortunate that you are in 2A. You'd get waxed in 3A going forward. The new blood needed to happen at the administration level and not the coaching level. But what's about to happen to your football program is going to be a dramatic drop off. I hate it for you but you guys made your own bed.
  4. On the talent comment. You obviously have not seen Goodpasture in recent years when they went to the state title game and had no business being there. Or the 2008 team that went to the semi's and had one or two players. I don't blame Martin for not hiring a DC worth a hoot. That was a school issue that goes pretty deep in my opinion.
  5. I have looked at the page today. The first five or six articles ore on the players and the new coach. The people on that site have always done a good job. I think you're being a little sensitive on this one.
  6. I just looked on the website and the top two stories are about their new coach and the the the other one is about two young men that just signed scholarships.
  7. So you have no idea who his players will be but in year 3 he better be competing for district titles against most likely two or three of the top 5 teams in the state. If not you will label him a failure. That seems like realistic expectations.

  9. David's a very good coach. I think he would do very well starting a place from scratch. No offense to the previous guy at Goodpasture but when he got there scratch wasn't that far away from what he inherited. I speak in code because I really have no reason to get anyone who spoke to me in trouble. I'm protecting my sources I guess. I expect the Goodpasture search to continue to take a while. And when it's over I'll be interested to see who's still around. There has been a lot more than the coach Martin issue going on over there for a while. They really have a long way to go I think as a school in general. Just my two cents. I apologize for the code but hope that you understand why I do it.
  10. A lot of behind the scenes stuff from those I talk to. I am not involved with the school and haven't been in a number of years but from those I talk to that are still there, look for more than just a coaching change. It was Peden's job until external issues caused the brakes to be slammed on the potential hire. Now they've got guys pulling out of consideration for the job due to uncertainties. That whole thing went from done deal to disaster in about 3 weeks.
  11. Creasy. That's funny. Also at no point in the last number of years have they had 5A or 6A talent. I think maybe since you've watched maybe one game a year from the guy you cut him a little slack. If he does get the job you might give him a chance. He would be a very good coach at any level I believe. May not be an issue anyways.
  12. That is the name I keep hearing. If so it's a really really good hire. 9 Semifinals or better in his last 18 years. And he beat a lot of 6A teams during that time as well with a 3A school.
  13. Just curious. What was Peden's record at MTCS?
  14. I've heard there is a connection but again this is just from talking to folks that would know.
  15. You guys can talk about coaches all you want. It's Peden. Decided weeks ago. But lets be real honest. When a big wig that basically owns the school and the admin that runs it don't like you then it really doesn't matter. Fact is the admin will not be around long. The people that backed him will get rid of him before too long in the name of "bringing the school together." Basically he did some dirty work for those that had an issue with the coaching staff. Now he can be the scapegoat. That fact that he doesn't see that says it all.
  16. Unless your willing to offer over 100K you aint getting Wade. And that doesn't include the required perks. He and his khaki shorts might just retire at Ensworth. But you are right, heck of a coach.
  17. From people I talked with, when a current administrator got to Goodpasture a few years ago they started making recommendations on how the team should play on the field. Basically stating that they had past experience and knew what they were talking about. Pretty easy to see where it started. That was somewhere around the time they were going to three straight state title games.
  18. How many state titles have you won? That's just arguing the coach point alone.
  19. David Peden is my guess. Rumors were there was a verbal understanding but nothing in writing weeks ago. That of course to be able to deny any and all rumors.
  20. The stuff that's been going around about this deal is really embarrassing for the school. Plus David had the majority of support at the school and from the players. And of course Alumni were completely on his side. When it all comes out what they did to that guy, it will just look terribly sad. Whoever gets him is going to get a great coach, teacher, and man. He's going to make somebody look awfully good.
  21. I am not associated with either. I watched it on the web. It would have never been 34-27. There was a decent gap between these two teams. I commend John McNeal for shorting the game in the second half when he knew their qb was hurt. It reallly could have been a good bit worse. Just my two cents.
  22. I believe football wanted to stay up. Didn't work out that way.
  23. Until they learn to defend the pass, which they've been completely unable to do in recent years, it won't really matter. It's become the elephant in the room no one will talk about with them. Just my two cents.
  24. I didn't go to my high school in elementary either. And no I did not go to Goodpasture.
  25. They would have smacked DL just as bad. You guys have had enough students to dodge them or you would be in the same boat we've been in. So don't got and get all high and mighty about it.
