  1. Joe you have to call me and let me in on this Kansas trip. I hope all went well and from the sound of things it did. I haven't talked to Lester yet, but I bet he has some stories to tell. Miller
  2. Warren Co. will have a tough team there is no doubt about that, and Tullahoma is loosing 2 wrestlers from their team last year. Riverdale may be alright but I hope there coach turns in their eligibility this year. I have to give credit to Coach Turner from Warren Co. he has put together a great team with alot of young kids that will be tough as they get older. Tullahoma did have a spotty team lineup last year, but hopefully with a great 8th grade class coming up they should be able to fill their lineup this year.
  3. I think Franklin will have the toughest returning team this next year. Brentwood will again have another quality team within the region, and others will compete for glory within the region like Smyrna, Tullahoma, and Wilson Central. I think Blackman will have a few good wrestlers returning, but I don't know how far they will go in the region title hunt. I have to say Fairview has a very limited amount of wrestlers so to say they will be a force is a stretch to me, but who knows what can happen. The region as a hold had a great season last year and I expect them to show very well in whatever tournament they might be in during the regular season. Good luck to all!
  4. Sorry I knew I would forget somebody. I didn't mean to hurt anyones feelings from Blackman High School. Coach Levi does a great job with his program.
  5. Just wanted to take a minute and say how proud I am of my region. We had six finalist this year with Ortiz (112), Bond (140), Cochran (152), Boss (160), Cothran (189), and Turner (215). Although we didn't win any of the finals we had a great year as a region, and should have a great year next year with many returning medalist. 103-Pair (Page) 112-Ortiz (Franklin) 119-Warfield (Franklin) 125-Felix (Franklin) 130-Konz (Franklin) 135-Gessler (Tullahoma) & Sholly (Smyrna) 140-Bond (Franklin) & Musser (Brentwood) 145-Bullard (Franklin) 152-Cochran (Brentwood) 160-Boss (Tullahoma) 189-Cochran (Fairview) 215-Turner (Smyrna) I think we had four teams from our region in the top 20 teams. 4th Franklin 13th Tullahoma 14th Smyrna 17th Brentwood Great Job Guys
  6. 1. Phillip Simpson (MBA) 2. Matt Keller (Bradley Central) 3. Charles McTorrey (Overton) 4. Matt Sweeton (Tullahoma) 5. Kevin Ward (Soddy Daisy) 6. Joe Blair (Cleveland) Tie 6. Jeff Lester (Lebanon) Tie
  7. Well I hated to lose Cody last year after having a great year at 103 for us at Tullahoma. I have watched Cody wrestle this year and there is no way anyone will stand between him and Leen in the finals. You can put a number of kids in front of Cody and he will drill them all. Either Mondelli, Francis, or Robinson have been beaten by Cody. I think he has atleast majored or pinned all three of those kids. I hop for Cody that he finds a way to compete with Jordan in the Div II finals next week. Although i wasn't for the move I still pull for Cody no matter what, he has a great brother who we miss at Tullahoma and a very supportive family behind him all the way. Good Luck

  9. I have to agree with many of the choices here on the board, but my favorite was the Mondelli kid that was killing one of the Jordan brothers from Overton at the state duals. Mondelli went on to get DQ because he bit Jordan while he had Jordan in a pinning combination. I also have to agree with kid from Franklin Tywan Armstrong this man was just that a man among boys. Tywan wouls scare you just by looking at you!! Oh and we can't forget Coach Joe Blair we was as tough as they come. You can pay me back Joe for saying that at the region. Coach Miller
  10. I think you have it right on. Scott was the highest placing Maryville Wrestler. Maryville also had Donnie Amburn who placed 5th @ 171 twice his Jr and Sr year. They had a kid place 2 years ago at 160 his name leaves me. I had the great opportunity to coach Scott Jones with Coach Humphrey back in 1996 and it was a pleasure working with a heavyweight that worked as hard as Scott did. Does anyone know what Scott is doing if so please tell him Coach Miller asked about him. Thanks
  11. Don't forget about Matt Sweeton from Tullahoma. Matt was a three time state champ (FR,JR, and SR Year). Matt also placed 4th his soph year.
  12. Quimbe if you thought Floyd was tough from Centennial then you have to have alittle respect for Matt Sweeton from Tullahoma. Matt was a 3 time State Champ (Fr,Jr, and Sr year), and was 4th as a soph. If I am not mistaken Matt beat Floyd in the state finals, and if I am wrong then John Welsh from Tullahoma beat him in the finals. Sweeton was one of the toughest wrestlers I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong there are many great wrestlers out there who deserves credit also.
