  1. Walker Valley lost 3-1 to Cleveland. CHS scored 3 in the top of the 7th.
  2. Soddy Ooltewah GPS Walker Valley Grace Sweetwater Sequatchie Chattanooga Central Red Bank Meigs
  3. Great weather, great tournament.
  4. Soddy has a good team. They just hit the ball right at people all day. Walker Valley played great and hit the ball pretty well. I am sure that Soddy assumed they would win easy after beating WV 6-0 the week before. Walker has a good team, they just need to be more consistant.

Tincher was voted the USA Softball National Player of the Year, was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All American Team, the Lowe's Senior CLASS award winner, First Team All American and was named to the WCWS All-Tournament Team. She was the #3 selection in this year's draft and is currently playing for the Akron Racers. In March, she pitched a no-hit shutout vs. Team USA on their Bound for Bejing Tour. Pitching Instructor: Tiffany (Vandergriff) McVay pitched at ETSU and is currently the pitching coach at Virginia Tech. VT made it's first trip to the NCAA College World Series in May and finished 8th in the country. Hitting Instructor: Angela (Brewer) Johnson played at UTC and UT. She was a senior during Monica Abbott's freshman year. Slapping, Baserunning and Outfield Instructor: Meagan Masingale played at Chattanooga St. and will be going to Armstrong Atlantic for her final two seasons. She represented team USA at the World University Games in Thailand last summer. Catching Instructor: April Richards played two seasons at Lee University. April is finishing her degree at Lee and is an assistant coach at Ocoee Middle and Walker Valley H.S. 6. Congrats Norma, you surely deserve it. Everyone from the Chattanooga area should be proud.
  7. Obviously you wouldn't know truth because you are only going on what you heard. The Walker Valley coach asked the Rhea coach after the game if something was up because she had been acting different all night. This is the same coach that had always gotten along fine with the coach from WV and had played H.S. ball with his wife. Then she starts going off about him black balling her players and not voting for them. He had no foot to stand on because this was the first he had heard of her outlandish accusations. After explaining that he had voted for several of her players she pulls out a copy of his votes which had her players on there. However, cross examination of all the votes would show that some of their players didn't get enough votes from the other schools as well. He was shocked that this wasn't discussed at the meeting when everyone voted and anyone could have looked at the votes and made comment in front of the group. These are untrue accusations and the coach for Rhea needed someone to blame. No one ever talked about black balling any team, coach or player. This has gone on long enough. Rhea has finished higher than WV the last two seasons. Enjoy it and quit slandering someone that you do not even know. She is gone, her assumptions were wrong but her story lives on. You have a great new coach and a great team. Best of luck at the region tournament.
  8. In 2006, WV tied Rhea for third but dropped to fourth in the seeding because of run differential. WV made it to the championship game and lost to the #1 seed on a 3 run HR in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and 2 strikes. That year the other coaches voted 1 player to the all district team with the 5th and 6th seeds getting more players. In 2007, WV tied Rhea for 2nd but once again dropped a seeding for the tournament because of run differential. This time WV got 4 players voted in by the other coaches. Rhea got less and the coach from Rhea told everyone that the WV coach black balled her and her players even though he voted on several of her players for all district and best of preps. This year Rhea was the number 1 seed and WV was the #2. Rhea had 3 voted on with one being the co-mvp and WV had 4 voted on the team. Once again, this was voted on by the other coaches. No one has been black balled in this district and to make those accusations is childish and reckless. Rhea has a great new coach and a loaded team. Best of luck to them in the tournament and quit blaming someone just because that was what Eldridge told everyone. Best of luck to Rhea in the region. Represent the district well.
  9. Some of what yous say is true. The first district I was in did it this way. The district we are in now doesn't allow coaches to vote for their own players and their is no set number. Every district is different. There are always some that should be on that are not voted on and some that probably shouldn't that get it. That is life.
  10. Rhea has the best shot but proved they could lose like anyone else if you keep the game close till the end. If their big hitters are on, they won't be stopped. Bradley has Banks back so they can definitely make things interesting. Cleveland has some very strong hitters and a tight young infield. Walker Valley probably lost their senior #4 hitter and starting pitcher at Ooltewah Friday night. Their senior catcher and leading hitter was hit by Thomas on her throwing hand and had to come out as well. They did get their shortstop back from injury. They young one's will have to step up. Cumberland is young but has the potential to beat anybody. McMinn has a good pitcher and will have home field advantage by hosting the tournament. Should be a fun week with a few upsets. Best of luck!
  11. McMinn played well. Walker Valley went 6 & 0 to win its second Plateau Invitational. They had 1 run wins in the semi's vs. Sequatchie and in the finals vs. DeKalb County. Turned out to be a great tournament except for the wind.
  12. Last I heard it will be at the Tyner Park complex. We will not be there because of Prom.
  13. Congrats to Norma and Ooltewah. If my team can't win it, I sure hope you guys do. Best of luck the rest of the season.

    5-AA

Boyd is better than the posters representing them. One is overly arrogant and one is making excuses. Congrats to Polk on a big win. Might not happen again but let them enjoy it, they played the game just like you and won it. Don't overlook Meigs and Sweetwater or one of them might bust your bubble as well. Don't have a horse in this race but classy teams win with dignity and should lose with it as well. I am friends with the coaches at Boyd, Sweetwater, Polk and Meigs. Best of luck to all you men and especially the ladies that bust their tails for you everyday.
  15. Any idea when the tournament schedule will come out?
  16. Ashley Bryson signed with Chattanooga State and Lauren Whaley signed with MTSU. Both play for Walker Valley.
  17. Should be interesting. Rhea should be the early favorite. Number 2 could be a toss-up between Cleveland and Walker Valley. Cumberland shouldn't be overlooked either. They had some good hitters and some young talent. They are also bringing in a new pitcher I believe. Cumberland is always a tough place to play. Bradley took a huge hit but they still have a great pitcher. McMinn has gotten better and I am excited to see the upgrades to their field. Let the fun begin.
  18. Has either school named their new softball coach yet?
  19. Nice of you to down your own alumni. Rhea's coach played for Clifford at Soddy Daisy and this is only her second year coaching them. She went with her Senior and the best team won. It would have been the same outcome no matter who pitched.
  20. Cleveland lost at McMinn 2-1 WV won at McMinn 11-0
  21. Congrats to Walker Valley's Ashley Alverson. She will sign with Austin Peay this afternoon to play softball for the Lady Gov's next season. Your hard work has paid off.
  22. Walker Valley was up 7-2 on St. Dominic, NJ with 4 minutes left when the rain and lightning hit.
