  1. Actually I was there. Mt. Juliet was up by 20 in the second quarter. You have to understand that the NationsBank tournament is 4 days long. If you don't rest your kids at some point, they are going to get tired and sore. Mt. Juliet played their bench and Walker Valley got close in the end (Butler caught fire), but it was too late. Mt. Juliet ended up winning the tournament. Walker Valley could match up with Mindy and Suzanne a little, but Clark is a monster. You'll see Thursday!
  2. I've seen Cleveland about 6 times and Mt. Juliet twice..thats this season...not including the 100's of times before.
  3. Didn't they lose to that team. I'm assuming you are talking about Christ the King?
  4. Oh yeah...Mt. Juliet big Mt. Juliet 68 Cleveland 53
  5. Physically, ummm...no way! Cleveland is a run and gun team! Mt. Juliet has two excellent posts in McFarlan and Clark. Burnett and whoever Coach Moore decides to put in the post are no match for these two. The only way Cleveland has a chance is if they guards are hitting their threes and the referees allow physical play underneath the basket. Mt. Juliet has the press breakers to slow the game down and physically wear your team out. We always played a special zone and jammed the hi-lo, but that depends solely on if the guards are hitting outside. If the wings are dropping threes, go ahead and start the bus. I'll say though, I've seen bigger upsets...and anything is possible in basketball.
  6. When was the last time Cleveland hosted a sub-state game?
  7. Burkey helped build the dynasty at OR, now he welcomes them into his house in a sectional game with a state tournament birth on the line. Can you smell the drama.....oops that is just my breathe after a eating a thickburger from Hardee's with extra onion! This is going to be one of the best games of the year. How do you think will win? Greeneville by 1 on a Lyons 3-pointer at the buzzer! 59-58
  8. If Wilson Central can pull off the upset, why can't Cleveland?
  9. Did you hear about that woman that is 15 victories from breaking Coach Smiddy's record number of wins? She is like in her 80's and still coahing. Her team was 15-15 this year. My all-time favorite was Amy Geren from Bradley Central. She could shoot the ball from half court on a pull up J. She was Ms. versatility in the mid 90's. She hit a three pointer falling out of bounds in AAU....she won the 3 point contest during the final four beating Jason Terry. Those memories are forever!
  10. It has to have been a long time ago! I'm to young to remember! The Cumberland plateau teams seem to always have a place at the State tournament!
  11. I guess Cleveland is robbed everytime they lose?
  12. Ode to the Columbia Lady Lions: http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2005-03-03-bubba_x.htm Poor ole Bubba!
  13. You would have to consider the fact that Cleveland played last night and they have a fun n gun style of game, so those legs might be a little sore. Don't be surprised if it turns into a half court game and Bradley has a good chance to win late.
  14. Showtime7, How do you think Mt. Juliet would have faired if they played in the Tournament of Champions in Phoenix? You still think they would be undefeated? Also, do they deserve the national championship even though they didn't compete in that prestigous tournament? Just food for though. BTW, I don't think anyone is gonna touch Mt. Juliet. The chemistry, talent, and coaching is there. Chris and John remember 2000 when they got upset by Hamilton. This is M.J's year...finally!
  15. Wescharge, It's a really small airport that is usually for personnel aircraft only. Your best bet would be to fly into Chattanooga, take Highway 153 to I-75 (4 miles). Take I-75 north to Exit 25 (28 miles). Once you get off the exit, take a left at the first light. After about a mile and a quarter, take a left and that takes you to Cleveland State. The gym is a .1 of a mile on your left.
  16. District 5-AAA Girls have dominated the region for awhile now. Except for a couple of years ago with Brainerd, the 6-AAA girls have really been a weak district.
  17. I remember when everybody was on the Owl bandwagon. Oh well!
  18. If Bradley wins tonight, BC, Cleveland, and Brainerd will be on the same side of the region bracket!! Only one goes to sub-state!

    WHAT A GAME!

    Welcome to Tennessee Women's Basketball!
  20. atn, I would guess I'm the squirrel due to my salary of 38,000 plus. I'd have to say though that your so called "nuts" are people that take shots at others on a message board because they are too afraid to approach them in person. I've had fun with you, but I think it's time I move on, of course I know that you won't! Your negativity towards everything is getting extremely old!
  21. First of all it is Smiddy! Know the man's name before your start talking about his reactions. The 99-00 team got fourth in district and went on to play in the state-semifinals. All you parents think about is winning! What's the first thing you ask your child or a player after a game....Did you win? How about you say "Do you fell like you played to your fullest potential today?" Bradley is under a new coach with a great philosophy. He has players playing at all levels of college. Give the man time and I'm sure that things will change. Whether it be winning or parents giving him the ax. And by the way BBall5 and atn...I've got a teaching and coaching job now so obviously someone believes in me...you guys just keep roasting people from behind your keyboard. Good Luck Bearettes! You guys are 0-0! Make some noise!
  22. Hey atn301! Glad to see you back roasting me. You parents are all the same! I can't help it if your daughter is not good enough to sit on the varsity bench. Maybe you should look in the mirror if you want to figure out why your child isn't the kind of player you want them to be! I'm not in Tennessee anymore, so I guess you'll have to take out your short comings in life on somebody esle!

    5-AAA

Tim Smith at Cumberland County should be the coach of the year. Kerri Simpson of Cleveland should be MVP.
