I predict Humboldt and LC will meet for the title. I have watched coach barger from the Perry co bleachers and state a number of times now and if she isn't the best 1A coach, I don't know who is. LC gets better with every game during the season. Thats what a great coach does for their team!!

Good call. It was Wayne in a 4 point game. We have an all D12 Regional for the girls. We might be looking at something close to this in reverse for the boys

I agree with your first round choices. I pick Mt Pleasant in a mild upset of Richland in the finals.

Collinwood is cealrly the best team in 12a. Loretta should be no 2 but they always seem to have trouble finishing teams??? Clifton will not be the same push over as in the past. After Collingwood, I think it is going to be a dogfight among the others. Unless Collinwood can get to the regional final, I don't see any other 12a moving out of regional. This could be the year of an all 11a regional final. I'll be pulling for the Vikings ........period. Our defense is pretty good but we are offensively challenged. If Edney gets more post playing time, we might be able to get the district 2nd seed.

It has been a while since I read a rule book but this is what I remembered. As I said in an earlier post, their mechanics were ugly but they got it to the right place.

I think Collinwood is the best team this year but don't see them going undefeated in District. They probably get the District tourny #1 seed with WC, PC and Summertown fighting for #2. Tucker is going to take a little while to get going on the mound but he will be one of the better pitchers this year. If my Vikings can score some runs, we could be dangerous. WC probably has the best hitting team so if they get their pitching and catcher situation figured out then they will be a tough out in the tournament. Summertown is summertown, enough said.

You are correct. I was taught to point into the air and YELL, "Infield fly. Batter is out!" I never had a situation where I couldn't do that BEFORE the ball was within 15 feet of the ground. I don't know what they do now but where I was, when there was an infield fly rule situation, the home plate umpire would step in front of home plate facing second base and fold his arm across his chest so the base umpire would know he recognized the situation. If home plate umpire didn't do this, the base umpire would get his attention and fold his arm across his chest. It is easy to miss having that situation so if either one recognizes it, it gets communicated. Suspect that didn't happen in this case and it "snuck up on them".

I agree the umpire mechanics on this play was not the best (I'm a retired umpire). If the batted ball was catchable, then it is an infield fly whether it is caught or not. Doesn't matter if the pitcher saw it or not. Was it catchable? I am assuming it was and thus the batter is out and the runner advancing to third must be tagged out as there is no force. Sounds like to me it was ugly but they got it to the right place.

I'm pretty sure I was at the game you spoke of. If so, our starters were Tucker, Dill, Gilboy (his first year to play BB), Hill and Zack Grimes. Zach dropped basketball to focus on baseball and football. Rhodes played for Lobleville that year.

Your early prediction is really amazing. Should take your system to Vegas. But I think you have good reason to doubt the final prediction. Hope you didn't bet it all on that last one!!!! PC wins the gold.

Congrats to FC for getting to the finals. Before the draw there was a thread on dark horse and I picked you guys to be the dark horse getting into the finals, but not winning it. I still think that is true. I think FC is going to be surprised at how quick PC really is. I hope it is not a blowout as that is not a very interesting game for either team's fans. I think PC will be playing man defense this game and pushing for a fast pace where today we wanted a half court game. We have shown we can play either and win. We won't stay back if you play stall ball unless we are 5 or more points ahead. I strongly suggest the FC coach play slow or PC will take control and blowout looms as a possible outcome. It's certainly not a given that PC will win but they have to be considered the HEAVY favorites to earn gold ball number 7. I'll be there in gold pulling for PC and wish FC the best of luck. Maybe you are destiny's darling but I think your run ends tomorrow. A silver ball on your first trip is not a bad consolation prize.

Never saw FC before yesterday and can't believe they played their normal game with their record. I believe they will play better but McEwen wins.

I have to pick PC or I won't get fed for a while. This is really a toss up game but PC pulls it out. McEwen over FC Championship pick is the PC/LC winner. Probably can't win the GURU title with the above but I like to eat.

Not all the PC fans were wearing gold. Some wore the white and some the black so it was hard to get a really good read on attendence. One thing is for sure, there a big bunch from McEwen and PC there.

The LC coach is really, really good. There were no signs of conditionioning problems for 4 1/2 quarters so that will not be an issue. You give a 17/18 year old, well conditioned young man a good nights sleep and feed him well and he goes like the energizer bunny. PC is equally well conditioned so ditto for them. I see a very close game unless Rhodes is shooting the 3 well. If he shoots well, I don't think anyone can beat us and we win by 10+. If he isn't, we have to go more mid-range and inside which is what we have done before to win. If Tyler is on fire and Rhodes is not, we probably can't beat LC. I think these are just two very talented teams with good coaches. Anyone have a good flipping coin that always comes up a winner? I need it for this one!!! And unless the other bracket shows more than what they showed the first round, the LC/PC winner gets the gold. I'm pulling for gold ball number 7 for PC.

You can go to team schedules off the coacht home page. They finished as 3rd seed going into regional and caught fire. Distric reg season was 11-5. Overall to date is 22-11. Hope this helps. I have not seen them play.

I doubt it will be 25. Fountain himself will probably keep it closer than that. 15 MIGHT be possible but I will take 1 in regulation. Don't want O/T.

Students don't get to park at Murphy during the tournament. But parking is an issue and it will fill up and you will have to find someplace you won't get towed. Either get there at least 45 mins before the first game (60 is better) or do what I do and get there when the 2 game is half over and some of the first game folks have left leaving open a few parking spaces. Now if everyone does what I do and you get my place, I'll regret telling this secret!!!

BTWSheriff you have a really good team at your back. But there are some other really good teams at this tournament and it is a tough gauntlet to run. Toss it up and let's play it out!

At last years turny I said LC has to be a favorite to repeat. They had the core of their team coming back with a very good coach. I still feel that way but they won't have it as easy this time. PC split with them last year in home/away series but really messed up against Middleton which LC beat by a bunch. I am staying with LC until someone beats them. LC in a barn burner. If I'm not there, call the 'boro police or the hospital. I'm in jail or on the operating table.

PC will not discount Wartburg. You don't play on unless you win. All the Cinderellas are playing baseball. Coach Hastin will not have a game plan for game 2 until he has won game 1.
