  1. agreed. they are probably the 2nd best team in 11A, just got off to a slow start in the season and finished 4th. they will be ready, especially in their own gym. one of the best 4 seeds in the state.
  2. happy 18th birthday to twins amy and amanda beavers of the wayne county lady cats. celebrate your bday in style with a win over eagleville tonight, girls! good luck the rest of the tourney!
  3. pretty accurate post, ricky1958, i think! also a good post by ptguard12. you seem to know your teams well. which district do you guys think is better, 11A or 12A? of course i have to go with 12A, although this year there were 3 teams and then everybody else. none of the top 3 teams lost to anyone in the district except each other. if the 8 teams remaining were in the same district throughout the season, in what order would they finish after battling each other all year long?
  4. check your bracket again. our bracket says the 12A #1 teams play first, then the 11A #1 teams. maybe there is a mistake somewhere?
  5. all girls awards were presented last night. all-seasonal team wayne co.: amy beavers, amanda beavers, nicole mcnutt. perry co.: holly turnbow, leigha horner, kristal edney. s'town: carrie meek, rachel meek, adria matney. santa fe: milissa hodge, brittany sullivan. hampshire: jennifer moore, jennifer cothran. frank hughes: jessica mcintosh. c'wood: ragan greer. ca: candis littrell. mt. pleasant: sharnreka akins. zion: crystal hoonhorst. player of the year: stacy myers, wc. all-tourney (i think) wc: myers, beavers, beavers. pc: turnbow, edney, brittany jones. stown: meek, meek, matney. sf: hodge, totty. fhs: natalie watson. cwood: cassie brewer. mp: akins.
  6. tfranks i'll give you a hint. i played dirty santa with you this past christmas. think about all the people at that party and decide who would use the name ptguard???? hmmmmm...see ya at the games. now do you know???? after all, it was my license plate for 4 years!
  7. thelma why don't i get a team together? SOFTBALL. we play in only two more weeks from today. i can't believe it. we have 30 games this year, so that will keep me extremely busy. i am looking forward to it, though. we have almost everyone back.
  8. thanx thelma. i posted both brackets last week. i think you can find all the girls' brackets at eaglettes.com. if you will search the boys' board on coacht, i did list it last friday as well. good luck to your boys from the 'wood tomorrow night at 9 bells. hey, we gonna be playin' any hoops soon? i need some exercise in the worst way. see ya. ptguard
  9. hey thelma just thought i'd let you know i got the star. hope to see you at the game tonight. will i?
  10. congrats, abby! i have known her since she was in 4th grade when she cried b/c they wouldn't let her into bball camp b/c she wasn't old enough. i still remember her like she was then, in those goggles . she has turned into an outstanding point guard and any team would be lucky to have her. best of luck, abby, unless you're playing us of course!

  13. ok, now that the bracket is set, who do you think will win? 1 WC vs. 8/9 CA/Mt. Pleasant 4 Hampshire vs. 5 Santa Fe 2 PC vs. 7/10 C'wood/Zion 3 S'town vs. 6 Clifton games start saturday at 4:00 at wchs.
  14. way to go amy! you have done a great job leading the wayne co. lady cats this season. finish out strong and lead us to the other 'boro. i wanna see double digit assists every night from here on out
  15. was this the 1st round of dist? will the win put gleason in the finals and dresden in the consolation? if so, who will they now play?
  16. i noticed the dist. tourn. has already started in west tenn. why do they start sooner than middle tn schools and are they wise to go ahead and do so? what are your comments?
  17. i totally understand about most all tourney teams being the same as the all season teams. in our district (12-a), the problem comes from the coaches who vote on the all tourney team not being at all the games. some don't even bother to look at the scorebook to see who played well. they just vote based on the kids' season performance. we have ten teams in our district. coaches are to vote for 12 players for the all-tourn. team without voting for their own players. there are no rules as to how many for each team. the 12 players with the most votes (and all ties) make the team. we don't have a tourney mvp. also, if a coach doesn't vote for at least 12 kids or doesn't vote at all, nobody on his/her team can make the all tourney team.
  18. that's some good picks tfranks. it's too bad the actual process wasn't done that way this year. the # of all-dist. players from each school was preset, then the coaches pick 'em. #1 team gets 4, #2 and #3 get 3, #4 and #5 get 2, and #6-#10 get one each. so, as always, there will be some players left out. player of the year is taken from one of the 19 players that make it. maybe those players that got left out can prove themselves during the tourney. see you tonight at the game. hope we don't need extra security tonight if you know what i mean...
  19. yes! then the kids can go right from travel ball to softball season. the post about playing during the clinic bowl makes no sense to me. as it is now, the season starts march 10 and goes until mid to late may (about 10 weeks?) if the season was started in august, it would be over by mid-october, early november, would it not? seems like we might have cold weather near the end of the season, but wouldn't we have less overall cold weather in the fall and less rainouts? just a thought...
  20. great job sig! now enjoy the rest of your senior year as you lead the cats to their first region berth in A LONG TIME!
  21. here are my picks: Region 1/2 Cloudland Harriman Region 3/4 Celina Clarkrange Region 5/6 Wayne Co. Moore Co. Region 7/8 Peabody Dresden some regions are more difficult to pick. region 1/2 i think is a done deal. 3/4 almost is with the exception of westmoreland. they might pull off the upset. 5/6 is the most talented region. if moore and wayne both go to state, that will leave dca, ezell, fra, s'town, and perry co. all at home. any of t hose could be competitive at the state level. 7/8 is clearcut to me also.
  22. some coaches react the opposite way, which is wrong also. when a team has a 20+ point lead and is gracious enough to pull starters out early in the 4th and has called off press for a while, what is the losing team doing by pressing the subs? the losing team hasn't pressed all night, but when the subs come in, they begin pressing. there is an unwritten rule in coaching that once the winning team subs, you should do the same if you are the losing coach. anybody agree?
  23. congrats to senior stacy myers from wayne co. (21-2) who recorded her 1000th point last night against santa fe. many people might say so what b/c she is a senior, but stacy only had about 80 points after her first two years of high school. she was converted from a point guard to a post and has recorded over 900 points the last two seasons to date. good job "lorraine" and good luck to the lady cats as tourney time rolls around!
  24. big ups to the guys from the 'boro tonight as they ALL looked impressive at some point in the game. they battled the #2 12-a santa fe cats and came out with a close victory. but guys, please make some of those ft's next time so it's not so close! now, go get those trojans!
