In reality then Tennessee does not have a five time champion. Georgia has it's first five time state champion. He could not have wrestled Varsity in 8th grade, thus must have been recruited into TN and was allowed to compete on varsity level as 8th grader. Outstanding accomplishment to win 5 titles. Too bad it is a GA boy and not a tennesess homegrown.... So TN is actually still seeking their firs 5 timer.

Some things I see that are not addressed. Are we just to promote college wrestlers or give young men and women opportunities to participate in a individual sport with a team concept. Granted once we have the hook int othem they have the chance to prosper and excel into becoming a good or great wrestler. Those that are great are over shadowed by the numbers who never medal or even make it to the state tourny. More of life's lessons are learned during their years in HS and having the opportunity to belong to a group or team of freinds who they can have bonds with for the rest of their lives. There is a big push to reginalize athletics due to the cost of fuel. Alot of larger schools do not want to schedule smaller schools that do not fill out a line up. You cant blame the AAA coach for not wanting to lose one of his scheduled dates to compete against 1-2 or even 3 schools that happen to be in their area or region who cant fill all weight class' because some of his wrestlers may not even get a match. So this limits the coaches thus their wrestlers who cant get mat team during the season without having to travel a great distance on a budget that can prob be spent all at once at the gas station. If the larger number of smaller A/AA schools who do not even have wrestling available, the possibility of adding the new classification for state could raise the opportunity to invite more schools in with the idea of not being drowned out by their larger closer schools. More opportunities==More competitors.

Cleveland took advantage of the conso matches and that is where they won state. congrats on continuing to battle back after suffering a loss.

Only two regions had three medalist in same weight class: 130-Region 3 Cleve, Brad, Mary 215-Region 4 SD, Ool, C. Cent 285-Region 3 Mary, Brad, Cleve Several had two but only three weight classes had 3 from same region.

BBB, Question for you. What was it with the brackets and entries. I saw where 11 of the 14 weight classes had forf in them. Was it all weight issues, skin conditions or sick no shows?

The TSSAA should pay to have the state event put on TV or web, especially since the facility does not cost any money. They have even stated the event is a money maker for them now, the duals and individuals.

Well freestyle wrestlers are greco cheaters. When the state tourny was held in Chatt, the paper used to have a list of all tourn team of wrestlers with unique last names.
