  1. Wow this is the first time I have heard of this news. Coach Gordon does do a really good job I only played for him for a couple of months but he has to be if not the best coach I have ever had. He knows what it takes to get the wins, if this is true good luck Coach. Yeah it is a very big loss to UH it is going to take a while to get the program back up to the standards it is at now considering all the seniors they loss and now the coach. Good luck in rebuilding UH.
  2. I have played on several AAU teams in the past and we have played in North Carolina, West Virgina, and Virgina but out of state competition doesn't seem as hard as team in Tennessee. So here is the question does Tennessee school ball programs play at a higher level then some of the surrounding states? I live maybe 10 to 15 mins away from VA and after seeing VA ball programs compared to TN ball programs it doesn't seem much of a match. I am really I haven't heard that big of names come out of VA except for the Oak Hill boys and I never really hear about anyone coming out of NC. But when it comes to TN you have Brandan Wright, Wayne Chism, Willie Kemp, Corey Brewer, Thaddeus Young, Delk twins, Tyler Smith, and the list goes on. Who from VA? Who from NC? Who from SC? I was just wondering if anyone else had the same opinions or any different?
  3. I was wondering if anyone knew of any 5v5 or 3v3 adult basketball leagues in north east Tennessee. To be more specific somewhere or in the Tri Cities area?
  4. Yeah he is it is only strange to people that he beat Wattad and Wiggins out because he doesn't have the press feeding his reputation like those two. UH is in Johnson City but yet you hardly ever see anything on the news about UH sports related until regions or if they win a tournament then you might hear something brief on them. Science Hill is always mentioned on the Tri Cities news and in the Johnson City press. That is expected though considering it is right in the middle of Johnson City and it is a public school, not saying UH isn't a public school. With Wiggins he plays for Greenville k he also has a city to feed his reputation like Wattad not taking anything from Wattad or Wiggins they are both great plays or they wouldn't be where they are now. Just Woodacre does not have the press to get the word out about him, all Woodacre has is word of mouth, and the people on the internet to get the word out about him. If Wiggins and Wattad are D-1 material then without a doubt I believe Woodacre is too.
  5. I agree with pretty much what everyone one has said seems like most teams are divided you got guards and posts. Both have strong points guards get the ball up and down the court, they call the plays, they can dish the assist, hit the 3's, and drive to the hole. But with out the post who would you have to grab all the garbage that some of the guards throw up, they stand a better chance of making a 3 footer than someone shooting a 20 footer, they are the person to get the ball to if you want to get points from the free throw, and they are pretty much the last line of defense when a guard plays sloppy D and the opponent is looking to drive to the rim. I would consider the post the base of a team because you don't need great guards just some decent ones that can bring the ball up the court, shoot decently, and feed down low.
  6. So how about Aaron Woodacre getting north east tenn. player of the year congrads to Woody well deserved award. Beating out Omar and Wiggins isn't a small task, maybe it will open some people's eyes now. What do you all think of the choice?
  7. Hmm sounds like Culleoka has some size down low, I would like to see Cloudland win just so they can go to state and win some gold for north east ten considering the west usually is expected to always win state. Maybe get us some more recruiting looks /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />. I have only got to see Cloudland play twice this year against UH but if they play slow ball that could either be their greatest weapon, or their downfall. Considering if they control the tempo of the game, I am assuming that if you play slow ball you are not in great conditioning shape, so will they be able to run if they are forced to play at a fast pace tempo?
  8. Is it not kind of funny to see people agree with me when they have actually been to UH and know that not all the kids there have money. People automatically assume if you have money you are corrupt, I believe there is a saying that says "money corrupts people". Ok it doesn't say anything about people with money are corrupt it can make a homeless person corrupt by making them hate someone for having money because they envy that person. I think it is a good thing that the coach makes the players that are not playing dress up. It gives the school a good look and besides doesn't college and nba players have to dress up? The clothes do not make the person, so don't stereotype and judge. Maybe because UH kids get bashed by about every school they play against is why the student body is so bad. People from Unaka, Hampton, and Cloudland get on here and do nothing but bash the kids, maybe you all should find something more productive with your time instead of stereotyping kids, they are just like your kids all they want to do is play basketball. I believe it was really messed up to see a fan at the regional championship get up and threaten the UH student body. The Science Hill reject thing is also another thing that is messed up. UH is made up of kids from all around the area not just JC, they have students from Kingpsport, Bristol, Erwin, Elizabethton, other areas around not just JC and some of the kids have attended UH their whole life how are you going to label someone like that has never even left UH and say they are some other school's reject. UH is a very welcoming place it is nice to see kids from kindergarten all the way up to seniors in highschool in the same building. I believe everyone has made their point the refs at the game were not the greatest in the world they did let the kids play but they were fair by not calling it for both teams. At the end of the game it was classless for "some" of the students from UH to throw their drinks onto the court. DJ and Tyler do have some interesting hairstyles, and UH's shots just were not falling it happens to the best of the teams.
  9. I will agree with pianomaster3 on the most part of what they said except I believe UH has a good coach as well, making a player or two doesn't necessarily make you a great coach when you make the whole team good that makes you a great coach (but that is beside the point). For the people that think UH kids are stuck up you are nothing more than a closed minded stereotype. I thought before I went to UH the kids would be rich or have some money but thats not always the case. My family is far from wealthy but I attended UH for a short so I am assuming from your stand point that automatically means my parents make a 6 digit yearly income, and I ride around on a high horse thinking I am better than everyone else. As far as the students of UH you shouldn't worry that people say you all are rich and cocky they just have problems because their lives might stink so it makes them mad to see people happy. As far as cocky I have not seen a single basketball player from UH come off as cocky this year. The student body might not be the most welcoming or respectful in the region but I am glad to see that they have so much school spirit for those who just bash and bash the UH student body they are just mad because they can't get their school behind their teams like UH can. I won't disagree about them not being disrespectful but I believe thats why they call it home court advantage if the whole crowd just sat there and did not thing I wouldn't bother to pay my money to go to a game. Basketball is supposed to be a entertaining sport if you all want to watch boring basketball with no crowd interaction go watch the NBA.
  10. Umm not quite sure what you meant by that but ok. Besides I dont attend UH I attend a Sullivan County school.
  11. I would like to take the time to congratulate the University High Bucs on a well deserved win over Cloudland. It is nice to see UH come out on top considering it is pretty much just them no Blue Alliance or anything of the sort. Tonights game had to be one of the most vocal and high tension games I have seen in a long time. It just goes to show you that ranks are not everything, and I tip my hat to the UH boys I know what kind of conditioning they are put through it is nice to see it paid off. Also I am glad they won because the do not get the recognition they deserve, they have one if not the best guard in north east Tennessee with Aaron Woodacre but no one gives him the credit nor the Bucs they deserve. So this one is to you University High boys basketball team and Coach Gordon very good job. Also a great effort from the Highlanders you all deserved to get as far as you all did, great job.
  12. No above average coaching in upper east tn? What about the great coaching at Science Hill? The toppers are not a team based on pure talent, how about Tennessee High as well they have been in their top 50 for the past 4 years. University High as well has a great coach with Tony Gordon placing in their top 50 two out of the past 3 years, and what about Unaka's success in the past couple of years with their back to back state appearances, even though they are in a slump this year. Let's also remember George Pitts did it for Science Hill years ago so upper east tn has seen what above average coaching is like (not saying we don't have coaches like that now).
  13. Hey what ever happened to tha Mid State Ballers? I haven't heard many people talk about them much lately, I heard they used to be good?
  14. Hey does anybody know of any websites that have information on different summer or any basketball leagues happening in Tennessee that have high school leagues (example: Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, etc.)?
  15. Hello to all the ballers in the North East Tennessee region, do to the lack of replys to my post about searching for a team I have decide to start my own "or well I am atleast thinking about it". I am still coming up with names for the team and I am still looking at uniforms online. I am also searching for the team a good coach "I have some people in mind" I have already found 5 players I am still searching for maybe 4 or 5 more players near the Johnson City, Bristol, Elizabethon, Kingsport area, basically ballers in Washington, Carter, and Sullivan County. The team will either be a 15 under or a 16 under team. But if your a good baller and are intrested in this team contact me at Codeair2000@yahoo.com I know I am atleast looking for another post player, well thanks for your time and keep it real.
