  1. Who makes up the bracket as to WHO PLAYS WHO??? I think they could have done a better job in lining up a TRUE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME... I mean geezz look at bracket 1 with Farragut (44-1), Houston (31-6), Hendersonville (31-7), and Riverdale (37-5)..... Then look at bracket 2 Mt. Juliet (34-9), Munford (21-14-1), Oakland (29-14), and Sullivan East (29-10).... Why did you put the 4 most dominant team in the same bracket??? That's not a true STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!! you're making them knock each other out before the state championship game!!!! I understand that you dont want to have two teams from the same district playing against each other... that's very understandable... i believe that the REAL 8 team bracket should be.... bracket 1 Farragut (44-1), Munford (21-14-1), Riverdale (37-5), and Mt. Juliet (34-9) and in bracket 2 Houston (31-6), Oakland (29-14), Hendersonville (31-7), and Sullivan East (29-10)... THAT"S HOW IT SHOULD LOOK..... that way its equal for the top teams with the least amount of losses possibly play for the state championship!!!! anyone else agree with me on this topic of discussion????
  2. Can anyone tell me if this is correct..... the batter's box is 4'x6' and 6" off the plate... home plate is 17" across, 9" back and coming together at a 90* angle... and last but not least the tip of the plate is 3 feet from the back of the box??? is that correct???
  3. Well, I'll just say this... Some of you have it right and some of you have it wrong.. It depends on whether or not the pitcher is a starter, reliever, set-up man, closer, or even another position player... As for just a starter 3-4 days rest is adequate time for them to get back on the mound.. yes it does depend on the amount of pitches he does throw in the game, but if you have your pitcher (HIGH SCHOOL) throwing more than 125 pitches YOUR THROWING HIS ARM OUT!!!>. he's still growing and maturing and your damaging the rotator cuff muscles by doing it... I suggest 100 pitch max.. 15 pitchs per inning is the average.. that's 105 per game... a good pitcher should only throw a maximum of 5 pitches per batter... that's the ideal way to do it... again back to the starter 3-4 days is adequate rest time.. icing is optional but running is a must... not to much running through cause you can create wear and tear on the legs.. a reliever should only need about 3 days maximum rest... a set-up man/closer should be able to go every day.. BECAUSE he is only throwing a max of 30 pitchs or less... as for throwing the next day... i dont recommend it... i like running and long tossing on the 1st day, running and LIGHT bull pen on the 2nd day, and full day rest on the third, then pitching on the 4th... it helps get rid of the lactic acid build up in the arm.. Icing yes does control the swelling which is ideal but i like the ice massage.. pushing the blood back towards the heart... as for position player/pitcher, i just leave them alone.. reason being is because how often do they REALLY THROW the ball in the game.. give or take 5 most... in warm-ups yeah they throw but its USUALLY light throwing across the diamond or in the outfield.. as for putting them on first base that's insane BECAUSE he's throwing every half inning to 3 other positions at least 4 each that's 12 throws... and its usually at a different arm angle.. to me that's stupid, but that's my opinion..
  4. When I played in college, I gave up a MOON SHOT to the first baseman at the University of Tennessee...The ball was still climbing when it went over the scoreboard in right-center... I never saw the darn thing land!!!! I think it possibly landed in the river... I'm still teased about that shot... I've also seen some massive shots at MTSU, one going into the stadium during batting practice... as for games ive seen them hit the chain-link fence on top above the bathrooms in left-center, there are some dents on the gray paneling, and i saw one shot that went over the lights onto the practice football field near the tower in the middle of the field... at greer stadium i saw 2 guys put it over the guitar in left field!!! so i've seen my fair share of homeruns...
  5. well there are a few good catchers in the middle tn area... depends on what you're looking for though!!... the ideal catcher that anybody really wants is: good at receiving the ball, a good arm, good at blocking, a good bat with some pop, great feet, and someone who knows the situation of the game and knows what pitches each one of his pitchers can throw and when they are able to throw them... NOT many catchers in the state have all of these qualifications... actually most of them only take about a third from what i listed... Eaglevilles catcher is very good not many stolen bases off of him.. warren co.'s is pretty good considering that he is a freshman.. lebanon's catcher is a little above average... riverdale's catcher is pretty good... from what i've seen he and the eagleville catcher are about the only ones that can say they fit all of the qualifications... only thing is is watson needs to hit backside more often!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!! EVERYBODY CAN PULL THE BALL!!! HITTING to the opposite field with power is what separates the men from the boys!!!
  6. well, honestly polls dont mean anything... it all matters in the end... POST SEASON is when it all counts... you have to remember most district tournaments have majority of those teams in them in a seeded bracket... you can still have the number 6 team in the district win state... its who's hot and on a run that make it to the state finals... all polls do during the season is give certain teams credit for what they have accomplished over those weeks of playing... sometimes its good and sometimes its bad, reason why is because when you're on top.. everyone is headhunting after you for bragging rights... honestly they should do away with polls because these people that rank them do they go see EVERY GAME at EVERY HS so how could they possibly know who is the best team in the state... its not like the state tournament is ONLY the top 8 teams in the polls... So what's the big deal who's first or last.. in baseball ANYTHING can happen!!!
  7. Dont get me wrong but Price is good but not that good!! He's an all around athlete yes, but he lacks in work ethic... He's not a very discipline hitter!! tries to pull the ball to much... yes he is one of the better juniors in the middle tennessee area but it depends on what your looking for... pitching yes he's at the top. catching look at eaglevilles and riverdales Alex Watson... he receives well, throws well, and switch hits... cant ask for anything better... just wish he'd hit more backside with power...
  8. Riverdale is 9-0 big games this week against Blackman Rivals!! Possibly 4 of the top pitchers in the state pitching against each other...
  9. The empty bus will leave at 5:00."--Dave Bristol (Giants) "Nice guys finish last."--Leo Durocher "If you start worrying about the people in the stands, before too long you're in the stands with them."---Tommy Lasorda "If they throw one at your head.
