  1. Maybe I missed it in an earlier post, but how could we forget one of the classic nicknames for one of the classic guys..."Swayze". Gone but not forgotten.
  2. Kaz ol'boy!! I have been keeping up with this "list" of great players for a while now. And I must say, you have done your homework going back as far as anyone could. But I have a couple of things that need to be said: 1. Oneida has always been about teams and units (linemen,RB's, LB's, DB's, etc) working together. None of the players would have been nearly as effective without the guys around them and we all knew that. That is why Oneida football is so special. 2. Since the oneida history is so long and distinguished, I think honorable mentions are needed for all positions. I saw it for one of them but let's have an HM for all positions. 3. WHERE IS RUSTY ELLIS????? How could you leave Rusty out at FB and at LB??? nobody was tougher than Rusty pound for pound, not to mention he was all state as a senior. And for that matter, where are Doug Pike and Scotty Owens. You love Stan because he "brought home the gold". give these boys their due. 4. Once this list of great players is over, I have TWO challenges for you. There was a discussion last season about Oneida's best teams (can't argue with '92 but I feel like '94 got overlooked...13-1 in AA is tough to top) But the first challenge is this...Who was the best class over a four year span? This one could take some research. Your second challenge comes from my first comment, and this one is a little tougher, make a list of the best units in Oneida history ie: top backfield unit(TB, FB, QB), best O and D line, best WR unit, best LB unit, and best DB unit. When I say unit, that means they had to play at the same time. Oneida football has always been about working together, so let's see who you think the best units were. Look forward to seeing what you think Brisco
  3. I appreciate it. That gives me some reference to what is going on. The last time I talked to TL was when he got hired and we talked about bringing back the old work ethic and pride that was there during the Coach May years. Glad to hear he has gotten it done.
  4. Would love to but I am living outside the area. Just trying to get a feel for what we have. Even though I live away from Oneida, my blood still runs orange. Come on Kaz, I know you are out there. Hook a brother up with some info.
  5. I hate to admit it, but it has been a long time since I have seen the Indians play. So somebody tell me, is this Oneida team going to make a real run in the playoffs? And I need all of you "old timers" like me to give me some comparisons so I have an idea of what kind of team we have here. Is it a 1989 lay the smack down kind of team, or a 1992 team of destiny kind of team, or a 1994 inside, outside, through the air, complete kind of team, or a (sorry...forgot the year) give it to D Lawson and let him run kind of team. OR is this team unique and a whole new experience to watch. Give me something so I am not completely ignorant.
  6. Hey Kaz! You say the boys played "unspirited" against Kingston? Well there is only one thing to say...COME ON ORANGE TEAM!! PLAY WITH MUCH SPIRIT!!! Good luck with LC
  7. Hey Kazam! What time does Oneida play on Thursday night. I would like to see how the team has progressed since we started the program back in '93. You will be playing in my neck of the woods and I want to support the tribe. I just have one question... "Who's side are you on!?!?"
  8. I didn't get much response for this on the boy's board so I thought I would try here. I haven't heard who is going to be the coach of Siegel High School in Murfreesboro . Has anyone heard anything? All I know is that if the high school girls are as good as the middle school girls, then people better watch out in the next few years. Those girls are winners.
  9. Who will be the soccer coach at Siegel High in Murfreesboro? I know there is a seperate girls board but I just want to say that whoever the coach is should have a quality group of girls coming from Siegel Middle. In 2 years of existence, they are 19-1-2 and were 12-0-1 in 2002. I was told that the tie was to Tullahoma, a team they had already beaten 2-0 earlier. Some of the other quality teams they defeated include Avery Trace (Cookeville) twice and Smyrna three times. Someone said they only gave up 5 or 6 goals all year and scored over 50. And I think they started a mixture of 6th, 7th , and 8th graders so Siegel High should be set for awhile. Any comment???
