  1. Ladynred, I for one had two daughters play for Coach Tipps. They both really liked him and played hard for him. I can also guarantee if he had still been here CC would have continued their Region appearances in 05. He also worked very hard in getting recognition for players such as all district and with calling college coaches and trying to help players with scholarships. That doesn't happen with current coach. I'm sure Pedo will disagree with what I am telling you here, but he also hasn't had a daughter play under this coach either. A spectator doesn't always know all that goes on in a program when they don't live it day in and day out like players and parents do. Personally, I don't care what CC does with their coaching situation, but it's a shame that a storied program be allowed to fall to such low expectations. Ladynred I hope you get your questions all answered, glad you are concerned, and best of luck to the current girls playing at CC!
  2. I agree Coach, but you are forgetting one thing! You were loyal to the players and they knew it! Kids aren't stupid, they know who cares about them and who goes the extra mile to help them and motivate them. Both of my girls respected you because of those qualities. Good luck at Independence and I will see you on the golf course this summer!
  3. I agree, but before you get down on the league's coaches, better make sure Coffee's coach nominated her! He has a knack for not nominating his own players, if you remember! Ridiculous but true!
  4. Well, Mr. Pedo, first of all, I have always supported teams from Coffee County in evey sport, not just basketball. I still support the girls and have been to every game that I could attend! As for your other comments, if you have a child that has played basketball at CCHS under this coach then I could say you could speak your thoughts on the subject first hand! But being an assistant broadcaster and showing up on game nights occasionally doesn't make you DICK VITALE! My personal opinions about the coach or his SYSTEM areabsolutely my right and your OPINIONS are worth no more than any other bystander! Until you have a daughter or son who has walked the walk, don't tell me what I should or shouldn't do or say! I wish the best for these girls because I know first hand what they are going through. As for Woo, I don't know her so I don't need to comment about her situation. If you have anything else you would like to say about me or my daughter I will be at the next home game! Feel free to come up and say hello!
  5. Well, Pedo I don't know how long you have followed CC girls, but they have had MANY girls with equal to and much more talent than Woo! I think you also said earlier in the year, that this was the first time Coach had the talent to run his SYSTEM, so far doesn't look like that holds much water either! Looks like you were wrong on both counts!
  6. No Wingman, I am not at all confused, when players don't put forth effort, miss practices, have bad attitudes, and don't follow coach's instructions, then you can say they have under achieved. However, if the players are not guilty of any of those things then you have to look farther up the chain of command, and that is at the Coach and or his System.
  7. I disagree Wingman, can't blame the players for doing what they were told. Question for you: How many teams has this year's team beaten that have a winning record so far? Just curious. If they are overachieving compared to last year's team, this should shed light on how we can compare the two.
  8. Make up your mind, Wingman, on another thread you said they had better talent this year than last. You aren't a politician are you. By the way, they had a load of talent last year, and those girls gave it their all. You can't blame them.
  9. Wingman you must have been following soccer for the past two years if you think they had no talent last year. Ask some of the 8AAA coaches if they had talent last year. I'm sure they will open your eyes. Good coaches adapt to what the other team does, some times you have to CHANGE up your schemes. That's why you will see different defenses from coaches just to change or give another look. If you run the same defense the same offense no matter what the other team is doing it will cost you in 8AAA. These coaches will find your weak spots and exploit them. For example, "true story by the way" if a team runs a box and one on your best shooter, do you run screens for her to come off of or do you tell her just to run the other person around on the court and make her tired? Let's put it this way they didn't run any screens. So you make up your mind about the SYSTEM.
  10. The feeder system was established long before he knew where Manchester was. As for those three girls you mentioned they will be missed by a lot of sports fans in Coffee County. They played hard and did what was asked of them even if it didn't make sense much of the time.
  11. Take it from me pedo29 Coach is not wild about the 3's!
  12. Good post UT1, I hope that UT is for TEXAS by the way, or you've had a tough year!

  15. 2 Main Reasons for so many injuries: 1. AAU- kids go right into this after their high school season is over, (at least the better athletes do), 2. Strength and Conditioning Errors- I talked to a specialist a couple of years ago, and he told me that most coaches and trainers do a good job of strengthening the front of the knee, but not enough on the back of the knees,(weights, exercises, etc.) Kids only have a two week dead period in basketball. That just isn't enough time to rest their bodies from the stress and strain of a season. Every coach wants to try and keep up with his competitors so each one keeps pushing. Nothing will ever be done about AAU because some schools use that as a recruiting tool, while others use it to try and help their kids get a scholarship. Nothing wrong with the latter reason but that is just my opinion.
