I don’t think Huntland will turn it over every time, but McKenzie forces plenty of turnovers against virtually everyone.  Huntland has size advantage, and #14 will be a tough matchup in particular — but Davis and the Reynolds’ sisters will be even tougher matchups for Huntland.  At the end, I think McKenzie will be in front by a comfortable margin

I’ve watched plenty of tape on both teams and saying they will win easily is far fetched. McKenzie has speed and gets plenty of steals but Huntland has good guard play and is alot bigger. If huntland gets into a half court set against them then they will have a field day down on the low block. Huntland has a chance to upset them if they limit turnovers to under 15

Yes it could be close if Huntland can establish the pace it desires, but I think McKenzie will force enough turnovers that Huntland will be playing catch-up and unable to play at a slower pace and utilize its size.

Have several tall girls. When trapped they just throw it over the top. Huntland has pretty decent ball handlers.

Makes sense that it was so close of Wayne County couldn’t get the turnovers.  I know Huntland has good size.  Huntland’s defense must have been solid in the half court as well.  Huntland will need good ball handlers to stay with McKenzie

  4. What are the keys to slowing down Wayne County?  I know Huntland is big and have a couple of good players as I’ve seen them play twice, but I haven’t gotten to see WC play.  It seems from the score that Huntland held the Lady Cats in check

  5. I have seen Huntland play but only a couple of times.  Really good size and #14  and #21 appeared to be good players in the games I saw.  Also #31 has good size, but there wasn’t a ton of production in the games I watched.  I don’t see Huntland having much of an opportunity to win this game as I think the McKenzie pressure will force enough turnovers to win easily.  McKenzie is the much faster team so I suppose for Huntland to have any chance then it will have to really control the tempo.  I just don’t think the Lady Hornets will be able to do that

Wayne County has a PG with multiple NAIA offers and a 6’1 sophomore (?) with multiple D1 offers. They can play

I’ve seen WC a couple of times now and the 6’1 sophomore has quite an impact on the game especially on the defensive end.  So I would definitely consider that team a challenger, but I still see McKenzie as clearly the top team when healthy

Summertown Up 14 in 1st half  never called time out when WC started a run - up 10 w 1:50 left keep shooting 3s like we behind still no TO let them catch up - called TO when 10 down w 1.8 seconds left - that’s correct 1.8 seconds but had no 10 point play to call

Wow Summertown went from up 10 with 1:50 left to losing by 10.  That’s quite a turnaround if I’m reading that correctly

I believe Mckenzie's Davis is down for a while based on other CoachT(ers). She left the game against WV in the 1st half with some type of hand injury. Don't know the specifics, but if she's out long it'll change the dynamics in A.  Mckenzie is still good, but they're great with her on the court. I expect another McKenzie / Wayne County showdown somewhere down the line.

Well without Davis that would change things of course but as long as she’s back before tournaments start then it could work to Mackenzie’s advantage in a way — other players will likely get more experience
