  1. Poor Clinton football and David Clary......I'm sure you always hated not having conversations with all this clinton crew, what would you talk about??? "Well my boys don't really want to play for me, they are all out for themselves......"I think that type of thing isn't what anyone wants to hear and he probably got tired of makin stuff up to say at interviews. I respect you none the less for the job you do at Oak Ridge, but sometimes its hard to like someone from Oak RIdge being a Dragon at heart..... Coaching situation.......Ingle was passed up for the job when Catlett came in, kinda leaves a sour taste in your mouth don't you think??? Why would anyone want that job at clinton when all you have to deal with is politics......Politics of who you know in the system and who you don't know.....People FROM clinton FOR clinton jobs have always been passed up.......from basketball to football and anyone who knows anything about this knows what I'm talking about. The administration is having a rough time, but who can blame them, when you make barely enough money coaching and teaching to get by its gonna be hard to get a Bobby Knight out of a teacher's salary. Oak Ridge pays everyone a whole lot more and it shows.....winning programs everywhere......clinton has a few coaches that do it for love of the game because believe me with the pay thats all you get to do it for. I hate to step on toes, but its hard to make everyone happy especially here and especially with a program of POLITICIANS. Its scary to think maybe the best way would be to completely drop the football program at Clinton, I WOULD HATE IT!!! But maybe thats whats best. SO true Clinton fans take a different approach give a coach and the players the benefit out of the doubt, support them in the decisions they make, even if its not letting your precious baby play or not play, or maybe not winning all the time. 4 LOVE OF THE GAME.......try and remember what that felt like..................
  2. I'm glad people from the community have opened their eyes to the state of clinton football, but every team will go through it at one time or another. This team and the teams before have been through heck and back, no question. From losing players to injuries to losing players because of death and there is no greater pain then lookin out on the field on not seeing that number anymore. All things can always be avoided but when given the chance to make something out of nothing a person can not help but want it. Such as when Catlett was chosen for head coaching position, it was his chance and like most of us it didn't work out to be the best, but we learn and move on. Its hard to find athletes in a class of students when there are not all that many. Also when they have someone that their parents are talkin about constantly that never sits well either. There are amazing athletes that have came out of clinton in the last years. From the dynamic duo of Jermaine Shepard and Dedirck Dye, to the talented girls team with Joy Smith, Echelle Weaver, Tiffany Campbell, Shena Weaver, Jessica Griffin, and all the others under the coaching staff of Frank Fragomeni and Susan Zellner I mean how can you say there wasn't. To last couple of years football team and bball team of Jesse Rodd, Mykail Vibbert, Blake Sharp, Matt Lopez, Anthony Brown, I mean honestly you can't say they are all not amazing athletes. Maybe some of them were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Soon things have to change and their will be great rivalry games once again against AC and Oak Ridge, but you must give a program time to rebuild. So good luck to the boys and girls at Clinton I know its tough to get the recognition that you truly deserve.....so keep up and don't give up on yourself, your team, or your program....
  3. Well that I do agree with you......Kerr may do that, but still he has a winning program. I wish Catlett all the luck in the world and I hope everything works out for him......
  4. Tony Lambert who is this??? What about people from HERE Jim Davis, Frank Frgameni, Mike Ingle..........Has everyone forgot about these people who have been through it all and be shoved out of the picture for no reason.........
  5. It is sad that people believe that Clinton has nothing...I do believe that its Clinton that goes in there every bball season and beats some of the best teams around, including AC and Oak Ridge. WIth Lopez (who went on to START at UTC) Splawn (who plays baseball) and Rodd how could you say we didn't have anything, including the class that was underneath this was loaded with athletes as well. They were all playmakers when they were around one another but just didn't get over the winning part, but played a lot of teams to the end and lost but maybe a touchdown. How can you say that we have no athletes??? Don't even get me started on girls either... We don't need to put blame on anyone, although it does make things easier, but sometimes thats just how things go, even though if only people knew what went on with Clinton politics a lot of us would see that coaches were given jobs over coaches who have been there for years and given everything as assistant coaches. What does that say??? Shouldn't you get homefield advantage??? As to the game this week.....I wish the boys that hcae toughed it out this season the best of luck, but when you have "teammates" that won't even show up to practice on a daily basis because they think they are too good what does that say about the parents and or the players themselves??? People who love the game and are true players do not walk out on a team especially in a time of need...Sometimes you play for coaches that you hate and then others you play for because you love them, but either way you have to be out there for the right reasons and I hope that the real CLINTON BOYS show everyone tonight what they can do by themselves!!!!
  6. ummm... a boy was killed but not in a drive by shooting....it was unfortunate but I think that it may have opened some of the boys eyes up. The boys lost a lot the past couple of years and its always been rouhg for this town because it always seems like we lose someone, but they always pick up and move on and learn from it.
  7. Well, true Clinton football fans will tell you this....its been rough. I can get on here and say that I don't like Kevin because I do he's a good guy and awesome at coaching defense from what I hear from the guys, but he never had a chance at Clinton. He was put in a place that was used to winning and having a coach that didn't care what the parents said and the parents didn't say a word about him because they were winning, but when you lose athletes every year it gets rough. I'm sorry I have to say this but I commend Kevin for his work, he's had nothing but a hard time since he got here. Clinton is a football town with a great athletic program it just seems to be over at the gym, on the soccer field, and on the tennis courts. When Gaylor left so did the discipline. The boys never respected him in the first place so shame on them. You can't blame the problems of Clinton on him and the coaching staff, maybe some parents should look at their own kids and ask em are u giving ur all in practice and do u respect him as your coach, because if they don't do that then there is no reason for you to be over at the field or in the stands all the time talkin about getting him out of the program. That's just me though....but I think if some people would step out of the picture and let the kids play and be coached the way the coach sees fit we would have a lot less of a problem, so to Kevin I would have donw the same but I would have waited till Friday at the game to do it, I wish him well in all he does and hope he can get away from here with all these parents and haters of the sport. Because if you don't love the sport that you are playing or coaching you shouldn't be near it....
  8. CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL'S BAND IS AWESOME HAS BEEN FOR YEARS!!! Its sad but that's why some people go to our football games...
  9. what makes you think that it is done wrong???
  10. OSHS....I just can't seem to get away from you.....CHS....we are from the same county and i have no idea what you are talkin about. The program is ran just fine here, you are giving all these people a terrible message of how we run things. I know we may not have the best school board, but my gosh. You aren't a fan if you don't support a little. I mean yeah believe me I know all too well about clinton and its politics, its hit me at home. I must say that I think its ran just fine. If its a coahes decision in all this stuff. Then my girls won't be playing if they fail one of em. That'll be all it will take. Kids do not need to doing that kind of stuff, I have long conversations with my girls if I hear anything about them that I think they may need to talk tosomeone about. I keep trying to fiure out who you are, but I can't seem to put my finger on it. MG......i have to agree if I had goodmarks to give I would give you plenty. Keep it up.....
  11. Keep playin hard Matt, I know its rough to see an empty spot on on the field, but just stick with it. I'm very proud of you and that entire team for all that you guys have made it through it took a lot. I know that might not mean too much coming from me, but you know....You guys stick with it and keep on playing as hard as you can and remember he's helping you swing that bat a little harder and throw that ball a little faster. Win EM kiddo.....
  12. Ok, I graduated last year and was drug tested, my team and I both were. The first time we all went together before practice and then randomly throughout the year some of my teammates were tested. I don't see a problem at all. I don't think it was humiliating at all. In fact it was kind of a bonding experience for us all, especially the ones who didn't have to go to the bathroom and we had to wait longer on them. Making jokes and laughing trying to make the others have to go. I now coach my old team and I'll be there again through a drug testing that the girls have to go through only this time I'll be a coach. In Anderson County I think its like 3 strikes and you are out or something like that. You get 3 chance before you can't play again. I think drug testing is great. Why should a kid be doing that kind of stuff to themselves anyways....And if you play a sport you have to give up some things. You have to give up a whole lot of free time and then even more time to make yourself even better. So how can you say that taking a drug test isn't right. Out in the real world things work a whole lot differently, I have to take a drug test for the place I work, why shouldn't I begin in high school. Isn't that what school is for anyways, to prepare the student for the rest of their life.....
  13. Thanks for backing me up when it came to the Clinton and Oak Ridge stuff. OS91, I already told ya I don't want to start nothing just open your eyes a little wider and on'tbe so close minded. I have never said anything negative about the coaching staff at Oak Ridge, I think they are all gifted, but like I said stay off of Clinton's. And you don't want to get me started with the Snyder subject, thats all I'm gonna leave it at. Gifted, yes, just some other things get in the way. But I'm tired of going back and forth with you about this because there is no reason too, so until you have something worth saying stay off of my back about all this and MAYFLOWER KEEP IT UP!!!!
  14. OH, if only......I do know what I'm talkin about there bud, only I told you the wrong year. It was the 97 season that the Clinton girls had a 20 win season and the year before that they had almost the same. The year that you were talking about when they had a 500 season, oh yeah that was the year that they got the new coach. I don't know what else to tell you because I have no idea who you are and you have no clue who I am, I'm just telling you that you should watch what you say about coaching staffs like I said it speaks badly of me and hits me very personally. And whenever you would like to get together and talk about some real basketball I live right outside of the land of OZ and would be glad to show you the stats from that year.
  15. Off the top of my head......Britney Frasier, Anglea Phillips......
  16. Oak Ridge has an amazing athletic program. But don't tell me they didn't do things on their way up there to get it that way. I don't want to step on toes, but everyone around here knows that there has to be something going on for Oak Ridge to get all the players that they have. Look at the roster for this year and look where the girls are from. Where did they go to middle school??? Middle schools are supposed to be FEEDER PROGRAMS to the high schools. Oak Ridge had their middle schools in OR. Clinton has theirs in Clinton, but it is a wierd thing that only a few of the good ones go to Clinton. Anderson County even has their middle schools up there. A.C. and Clinton and probably other places have lost their share of players to Oak Ridge. You have at least 2 Clinton girls who played for you during the past 4 years that brought glory to the Oak Ridge program that should have been playing their 4 years at Clinton High school. OS91, do you know what you are talking about? Lets go back to ummmmm 98 or 99 and look at that season. Amazing season and our point guard pulled her hamstring and played the enitre game with it and that's the only reason that Clinton did not go into regionals and dominate. The past 10 years have been great to Clinton basketball. That was over a 20 win season, thats great for ANY team. Have you seen the athletes that have came out of Clinton??? Dedrick Dye, Torree Morris, and others who have decided not to play sports the rest of their life, but decide to buckle down in school and turn down numerous offers. Do your homework before you go off about O.R. and Clinton. When you talk badly about the last 10 years of CLinton basketball that is a slap in the face to me and hits very personal. Maybe you should watch what you say about other coaching staffs before someone jumps on what Oliver Springs has been like. That Laura Hall is one of the greatest players to ever come through Oliver Springs. I grew up around Oliver Springs and Oliver Springs sports so I know my share of things. I even attended Norwood Middle School and was coached by the Bass sisters when I was younger. I played sports every year for the boys club and grew to be apart of that town, but don't diss a basketball program that you don't know too much about. They have a young team this year and next, but they have gained experience. Thats all I'm gonna say, but if you wanna chat about this more, I'll be happy too.......
  17. Johnathon Vespie is a well-groomed athlete comin from a long line of great players. Congratulations on his winning shot that I heard about!!! Keep up the good work sweetie and keep me posted on how you and your bro are doing!!! Dallas
