Bradley doesn’t care who they play. Best team in the state by far.

The transfer makes them almost unbeatable. Without her they are still very good but they would be beatable.

It doesn’t matter.  You play who you get paired with.

    Go Bearettes.

Haha easy to say when you’re on the number one team. I recall BC fans complaining for years about having to play Riverdale and Blackman in the substate games. Definitely sang a different tune back then. But yeah carry on….

I agree completely.  Yall had a good team.  Classy program, kids, and coach from what I could see.   You would have had a much better shot at home vs LaVergne.    Our crowd last night was unbelievable.

How about LaVergne?  Pretty cool we have 2 teams going from District 7 after having to go through the boro district and the chattanooga region!

This Program has came along way.  Coaches deserve some much earned credit as do the players.

Don't you think that is the way they are doing it now?? You think they wanted York and Westview last year and South Side and Upperman first round?? All four of these teams played in the championship game in 2022 and met first round in 2023?? I doubt that was there plan.

You know I have no idea how they are doing it to be honest. I would assume it would be blind draw but who knows.

  5. When I was a coach and we made the state tournament we went up to Murfreesboro for a blind draw. We went into this meeting room. We were all assigned a number on a ping pong ball. They spun it around a few times then started dropping balls out one at a time. Totally blind draw. The only exception was if two district teams made the state they had to be in opposite brackets. Fairest way to do it.

I don’t think anyone thought that Upperman would be there either this year on the girls side. They really struggled in the district tournament. Replaced a lot of seniors from last years team. Coach just does an amazing job with the girls she has. She gets the best out of them. This should be a really good game. Both our very good defensively and got lucky to be in the bottom bracket. Some really good teams in the top bracket.

    Good post! Spot on

Fair enough I was thinking something along the lines of 50 something to 50/40 something not sure exactly. Got time to think about it before game time lol

If you guys score 50 we are in trouble lol.

Upperman tanked you ain't convincing me otherwise. Just WIN BABY! AL DAVIS. Thats what we teach our nowadays. Screwing over people is widely accepted

You got beat on your home floor, hosting a region game. This isn’t “everybody get to trophy” Quit your crying and go see mommy for some warm milk in a bottle and lay down and take a nap. You’ll feel better when it quits hurting….

Watching the game , I never saw Coach Dodgen shooting foul shots at the end. Come on now. His strategy was fine just didn't work out.

I have been on both sides of this and as a coach you definitely take it personal and I’m sure he will second-guess and try to figure out what happened. Coaching does play a large part but so does your talent level. White County had one of the best teams in the state on paper they had size they had speed they had shooters they had the total package in my opinion. But having said that the players still have to play and we all have bad games, coaches, and players, it’s just part of it.

  10. Give me York against the field. They learned a hard lesson last year with a tough loss against westview. They play defense and the point guard is money. Teams traditionally don’t shoot the ball well first game in the glass house. Layups and foul shouts is where the difference will be.

  11. How many want to make a wager that if the Chattanooga Prep team wins any type of silver or gold ball, that they have to vacate for illegally recruiting players?  This is Tn Temple reincarnated. Same exact building same exact game plan on how to build a team. This is a private school playing in Single A. What a scam

As a SS alum, I'd take it. Heck there was one point in the '23-24 year that I was concerned we'd even make the region title game. But alas, we've gotten better as we've went along.

The only team I'm really worried about is Dyersburg. We've heard all year long about how good they are. Now we'll find out in the first round.

If SS gets past the first round, I like our chances to wind up in the title game.

SS will have to beat some very good teams to get there. Tough draw for sure.

Heritage looked great. Any of these teams can win at this point. I’m interested seeing these west teams.

Heritage impressed me. I’m definitely looking forward to watching them in person. There has always been a lot of athletes in the Maryville area, so I’m not surprised.

We scrimmaged them early November. They are the real deal "when" they are dialed in. 3 D-1 players is what I hear. South Gibson upset them so they can be beat. South Side will match up with them probably better than any team all year.

Should be a dandy first round matchup. Can’t wait to watch it

I'm just thankful that my team is participating. It is an honor to make whether you go home day 1 or make it to day 3. Just for the teams to be able to experience is an accomplishment in itself. However, that doesn't hide the fact that it looks a little fishy that all the West TN teams are going to knock each other out day one. They may would still be knocked out if it wasn't set like it is but would be much more interesting.

You’re guaranteed at least two of them make it to the semi final round which is pretty dang good.

I agree should be a really good game

Agreed two great programs/schools that seem to be running into each other regularly no matter what sport it is. All the Homers will pick their team so we’ll find out soon enough who the best team is my money is on Upperman  final score 37-26.

For sure. I’ve been around TSSAA HS sports my whole life and I’ve always been told it’s “a blind draw” but every single year I get more and more evidence like this that proves that it’s not and they just plug teams where they want

Now you’re onto something!  It’s almost like they want to ensure there is diversity and equal representation instead of seeding these teams like they should be.

I understand that they can't be all kept off the same side, but all play one another in the first round? I believe it's that way in AA as well. All that said, you have to prepare and try to beat the opponent that's next up. Goal is to go 3-0 no matter who you play.  I just find it funny that all the far West TN teams in two classes are matched up against each other in the first round is all.

I agree, because traditionally the teams from West Tennessee, outside of one or two programs are weaker than the ones from the UpperCumberland. I’d much rather play South Gibson or Chester County, then Greenville.  So maybe look at it like at least one of your teams is going to make it to the semi finals.  I promise you White County is better than both of those teams and they are sitting at home. Why is that? I wish they would change up the substate format.  The problem with that is very few of the West Tennessee teams year  in and year out would make it to the glass house under a different format. The flipside to that is on the boys side there would be way more West Tennessee teams there than the rest of the state in division one.  so if I’m you I just take what I get and be thankful.
