  1. Yeah, I know about one parent in particular, my husband! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> He used to get pretty riled up when he was coaching, but "mostly" in fun. Some people probably thought he was a b-head at times. That doesn't make him a bad guy though.
  2. Don't judge all the players by one woman and a few players. There are some really nice girls on that team and also some nice parents. This is not the first time I've heard remarks about this lady and those remarks didn't always pertain to softball. I've witnessed some arrogance from all teams and their parents in the past. It just runs through cycles.
  3. The Tennessean has the score PC-59, CC-31.
  4. Some of the Upper Cumberland games were televised last year. Does anyone know if this match-up will be on TV? Possibly channel 22?
  5. I'm sure I'm going to get bombarded for this reply, but I really don't care... I was not at the game and didn't see the calls but the direction that ball games are going anymore, someone has to take over and do something about the attitudes that players, coaches, and fans exhibit at these ballgames. And I'm sure there are some refs that need attitude adjustments, too. When it comes down to people making threats and doing damage to vehicles, it is just getting plain ridiculous. I hope there isn't any incidents like that this year. The lack of respect for other people has just gone too far. Some people (from the students on up) think they know more about sports than the coaches and refs know. I get so tired of hearing some of the remarks that people have that I have lost interest in going to games. I'd rather stay home and watch college sports on TV.
  6. Ok, I'll answer my own question. It states in the rule book that there is a 10 day school-against-school competition during the summer. Thanks me! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  7. How do schools get by with tryouts? Maybe I've lost out on TSSAA schedules and teams are allowed to practice during the summer, but here's what the hand book says: 2006-07 TSSAA Handbook 5. Q. Is it permissible for a school to have try-outs before the first practice date? A. Try-outs are considered practice. No school may hold after school try-outs prior to the first practice date as set forth by the TSSAA Sports Calendar. Page 51 June 14, 2006 I thought that there are a couple of weeks in October and then practice starts again in February. Maybe I need to look at the rule book again since it's been quite awhile.
  8. I know both of Laken's parents. They are really good people.
  9. There's an article in the Tennessean sports section, HS Girls Basketball. Looks pretty official now.
  10. I know what you mean about the gossip, devilfanatic. I didn't mean to start this as gossip, I was just checking to see if anyone knew anything. I'm from Hermitage Springs, so I don't have a dog in this race, as the saying goes. I had a couple of people here at work ask me if I'd heard anything, I told them yes, but I would check on coacht to see if anyone from RBS or Jackson County knew anything. From "what I've heard" this was something that just happened this weekend. Is RBS having a camp this week? I saw a Weakley County school bus in RBS yesterday.
  11. I heard from one of the RBS players this weekend that Laken is going to Jackson County. The family is moving and her mother has a job in the school system. They said that she is going there for more exposure and a tougher schedule. Any body have any comments? I figure that it's probably true coming from one of the players.
  12. So far, using one pitcher has worked for UT and Arizona. The problem with last night's game was the offense. Usually the one ace pitcher is more mature and has better placement, not just speed and control. Rhodes is an awesome pitcher but mainly relies on her defense. Hawaii ate her up because they learned the rotation of the pitches she uses. Hopefully by next year she will utilize more different pitches and not use the same pitches in certain situations. She will need to learn to have a variety of pitches to chose from in different situations.
  13. Hopefully I can catch some of the games. I can't leave work like I used to. Coach 15, are you back home or at your home away from home?
  14. Where will the tournament be played this year and on what days?
  15. And who says prayer can't help? /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Glad to hear she's recovering so quick. What happened at the slide at home? Did she hit her head? I don't want to get full details because someone else might be involved and I sure don't want anyone feeling responsible for a weird occurance. Especially young players.

29 + 14 Me and our big dog outside had a round yesterday. He won. He knocked my legs out from under me and I fell with my left elbow/shoulder/ribs hitting the porch and my left butt cheek/hip hitting a cement block. I feel everybit of 43 today. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Believe me, in the last year I'm finding out how much I "can't" do anymore.
  19. That was my thoughts, Swaney, but I guess I was too lazy to type that in.

Swaney, We've talked about playing this summer (not in a church league!). If you hear something before we do about tournaments or leagues, give us a ring!

I don't guess John & I will be involved with the team this year. We actually haven't heard from anyone "officially" about helping so we went ahead and made some other plans for this spring. We're not part of the school staff, just volunteers. From what I was told, Kyndra really wasn't interested in pitching but I think she has stepped up and let the new coach know that she pitched in the past. Good going girl! I think if they use the girls right, they can actually have the opportunity of mixing the pitching. It can actually be a good game plan. I wish the best for these girls since this is more than likely the last year they may have a high school. I'm going to try to make it to as many games as possible. Our plant manager is working less since he's getting near retirement, so I need to be at the plant more. I know I'm really going to miss softball this year. Good Luck Cats! Play to Win!
  22. You know I'm just kidding, don't you? I was just in one of those moods. Maybe some of John's attitude rubbed off on me there for a minute. Congrats anyway!

No matter what the end of the season looks like, HS is number 1 in my book!
  24. There aren't enough students to move Clay County up to AA. There are around 100 students at the HS high school and around 260 - 275 at Clay County. I wish the best for all the students at Hermitage Springs. My husband and I helped coach the softball team for 6 or 7 years. Most people don't really understand the atmosphere of that school. Sure, they have their problems, but it's a very special place. I've been to very large schools in Indianapolis, and finished high school at Hermitage Springs. I wouldn't trade all the extra curricular activities and opportunities that I had at the larger school for the friendships and respect that I felt for the students and staff at Hermitage Springs. Sometimes there is more to learning about life than sitting in a class room. I learned about respect and friendship for people of all classes. Hermitage Springs students, you're number 1 in my book!
