  1. Whoever started this thread only diminishes the reputation of your school as well as your team. We know you won, and we're proud of you. But don't start crap like this. It makes you look like a moron. More of a moron, anyways.

It shouldn't be surprising that this was his very first post.

  2. Slanderous?????? That is a HUGE accusation........Ambiguous is NOT slanderous, he just often speaks the truth on what folks don't want to hear.

As for an Oak Ridge Dynasty.......

Oak Ridge HAD a dynasty run in the late 1950's-early1960's by means of polls and not by means of an actual state championship game. Back to back titles in 1979-80 is NOT a dynasty. As for the "National Championship".....whatever.........

Since so many in this thread are sticklers for accuracy, a defamatory post on this site would be libelous, not slanderous. A defamation spoken is slanderous. A defamation written is libelous.

  3. I am certainly not an advocate of cheating, but a permanent ban is pretty severe. He cheated and should be punished. Many coaches (and people in general) cheat in some form or another. If all coaches who have ever cheated or tried to gain an unfair advantage were banned for life, a lot of coaches would be in other professions.

If someone speeds in their car, should they be banned from driving for life? How bout DUI....banned for life?

When folks get on a soap box like this and everyone starts piling on, it always strikes me how much greater everyone else's sins are than our own.

As for what he's teaching his kids, no one is good for nothing. Anyone can serve as a bad example. There is a lesson to be learned there.

    My .02 worth.

  4. Spencer Gulmire AND Gaston Miller are outstanding high school football players. Miller is probably a little quicker. Gulmire is definitely stronger. If I were either one of these fellows, I'd probably want to go to a smaller school where I had a better chance of playing. It's obvious that they both love the game and both can play some ball at the next level, but I don't think either will be a big impact player at a D1 school.

In boxing, they have weight classifications for a reason. When strength and speed are relatively close, a big man will beat a smaller man. That's not rocket science.

  5. I can't believe the ignorant rationalizations in the thread. The fact is it's wrong and it's harmful. All your rationalizations and attempts to be cute about it don't change that fact. Coaches are role models and many do have a disproportionate amount of influence on the young people under their guidance. Tobacco is illegal for minors for very good reasons. Use of tobacco is a nasty, harmful habit. Coaches should care more about their players than to play a significant part in a player's becoming addicted.

Acting like this is no big deal speaks to the mentality of those making such posts. I guess this is the kind of thinking that originated the old saying, "Ignorance is bliss."

  6. Do the Riverdale fans really realize what a nightmare parking is going to be...not to mention the fact that Wilson Central's stadium will seat less than 2000 people. Conservative estimates have 6000+ fans showing up. How practical is it for 4000+ fans to stand around a field?

How many of the seats that are available are reserved for Wilson Central's season ticket holders? Probably 300-500 are reserved. So, you'll have less than 1500 seats available to the general public. Do the bands get a seat?

Don't guess anyone would consider moving this game to a neutral site, huh?

  7. Where are all the Falcon fans????

Falcon fans are probably breathing a sigh of relief...and already dreading their trip to Cookeville this coming Friday night. They are very lucky to be 3-2. Were they plagued by fumbles last night?

There is certainly no bragging coming out of Fayetteville this year. They've learned that crow is not very tasty.

  8. TDCman,

I know the coaching staff very well, and they should have the players ready for a dogfight.

I don't see Dickson being able to score a lot of points, but can the defense hold Riverdale out of the endzone. Only Friday will tell.

Well, instead of the DC coaches having the players ready for a dogfight, they should have prepared them for an indian war party.

You were right in your prediction of DC not being able to score a lot of points, and DC was able to hold Riverdale out of the endzone.....except for five times.

  9. Now that Wilson Central has beat Gallatin. I would like to hear the predictions for this coming friday's match up between two of the top teams of in the state!

Congrats to Wilson Central on their win over Gallatin. Keep one important thing in mind. Gallatin AIN'T Riverdale! No one else is like Riverdale. They have depth AND they have more coaches. The Riverdale coaches will know more about Wilson Central than you can imagine. You asked for a prediction. OK, Riverdale will go through Wilson Central like Hurricane Rita. No slight to WC, but....

  10. I guess its all in whos side your on, obviously your from Lincoln County. I however am neutral, and the ball was down whether you like it or not Mr. All Knowing football god

Flintstone, If the ref didn't blow the whistle, the ball was not down....whether YOU like it or not. Additionally, players should know to keep playing until they hear the whistle. That ain't rocket science.
