  1. One thing I've learned about ALL high school sports: talent is important, but motivation is what makes successful teams. The most talented team I ever played on was 2003--we were loaded with all-state quality players. We lost the first game of the district tournament. The following year, after graduating 7 starters or so, we were cheated out of a regional finals appearance. The difference? The was a group of seniors on that '04 Ooltewah team that was dedicated and had their heads on straight. We organized our own practices starting in October, without a coach of course. It was great being a part of that.
  2. Game time Tuesday is when? Also, you might try condensing all your thoughts into one post, chief. Congrats on the goal. Did Spence deflect it off of you?
  3. Congrats to my former team mates and I hope to catch a few games in the near future. Can we get a schedule for the next couple of weeks?
  4. Unfortunately...well coached...hm. Ooltewah does have a great group of coaching this year and their offensive play-calling has imporved TREMENDOUSLY. Hopefully they can maintain this trend and notrevert to the play-calling of old...
  5. Take the caldwell kid out and you still have an EXCEPTIONAL running attack with that "Williams kid." Well, i tak that back: that "Williams MAN." This is a guy that would flourish in virtually any running system. I remember that as a freshman, this gentleman could outrun a good portion of the Ooltewah team that finished in the top 4 of the state (In reality, the 2nd best team in 5A--the state championships was decided in the semifinal game at Ooltewah). Yet, I digress. Back to Williams. The first couple games last year this guy rushed for right around 200 yards with a mediocre, inexperienced line (230something against East Ridge I belive). Then, out of the blue, Gatewood moved him to Fullback. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be paying off this year. All of you teams looking to knock out Dewayne, beware. If the Ooltewah coach is smart enough to put Marcus at tailback in the event of such an occurance (the failed to do so at Central, but Caldwell sucked it up and trucked anyway), you are in trouble.
  6. EaglesDT: A big studdly man indeed. However, you also have to give credit to the only Sophomore that started that year. He really held up his side of the field on defense. If I'm not mistaken, i think he now plays soccer occasionally and utilizes his tremendous strength unload trucks at Best Buy....
  7. Criss Golden is going to be playing at King College next year. He is part of their "best recruiting class ever"--a quote taken from their coach.
  8. If a bear poops in the forest, and no one is around to smell it, does the cow actually have a swollen udder?
  9. Great season, guys. We performed well with what we were handed. If we get one more call our way, or move a ball 4 inches to the right...crap it...we win and play thurs. and sat...unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. Good luck next year. ..and in response to the original post: yes, Ootlewah was a good team this year!
  10. Yeah 7:30 of stoppage was added in the first half after only 2 cards. Supprising...Also questionable that the half was stopped immediately after Cleveland scored their goal on a questionable PK. Their 3rd goal came in a similar situation at the end of the 2nd 10 min. overtime on another questionable call. Yes refs stink, but the loss cannot be placed on them. If the game was played 5 more times, Owls win 4 of the 5 easily. Too bad it's single game series...
  11. Billy Sandusky and his operation of "Black Hawk Down."
  12. Hey Jordan11--here's a few pointers: Take off your gay sweat band (unless you are the BUS), buy some soccer shorts (this isn't basketball), and don't have a washed-up rapper teammate named "hammer." IF you guys can make it to sectionals, be ready... Oh and life called...you're cut.
  13. Ooltewah now has captains. The team voted on Monday and the results are in: Criss Golden, Drew Frye, Jason Bennett, and The Bus
  14. Real men play football huh? There's a lot of little boys that come out to "play." You cannot generalize by making statements like that. Women play football too, bud--Locomotion. But back to the topic: It angers me immensely when people who have no clue about soccer get on here and make fun of us for being concerned that we have no where to practice. Let's pause for a moment and think--how many schools have softball fields? How much money does that make? Booyah, point made. Whether a sport makes money should not be dependent on whether it gets a field/court/etc. Every team should have a place to practice and play where they will not get yelled at for doing so! It's not the booster clubs that buy land and make fields, it's the state of Tennessee (in public schools). It's not like there isn't room at Ootlewah either. We have at least an acre of flat, grassy land (in poor condition however), that could easily be converted into a soccer field. It's laziness on the part of administration in actuallity, but it doesn't hurt them at all; they just force every sports program to pay a fee to the girls' team for not having a field. Get on the ball, guys.
