First, I want to congratulate the Maryville and Powell girls on a great game last night. It was a prime example of what high school softball is all about. Two teams giving it their all with sportsmanship and class. Second, Maryville you should be very proud of what you have accomplished so far this year. I saw every individual girl giving their all for the TEAM. That is what a team sport is all about. The team together is greater then the individual. Last, Coach Hawkins once again you and your coaches did a wonderful job in preparing the girls and in game strategy. Your former catcher and I will be their again Friday cheering all of you on to victory. GREAT JOB!

Is the Maryville/Karns game really going to be played at 3:30 Monday as stated in the paper? Anyone know?

Great job coach Hawkins and all the Maryville girls! I agree with you Lady Admiral, I believe coach Hawkins is the coach of the year! By the way coach, a former catcher, now in training to be a lawyer at CNC says to tell you hello! Good luck next week coach.

Neither one of those young ladies can carry the team if the others don't score. It takes more then just good pitching to win games given the kind of schedule U/T plays. There are many other young ladies on the team that deserve major recognition. The pitcher is only as good as the catcher supporting her as I well know.

Man I almost miss this stuff, but I sure am enjoying retirement from softball and spending more time fishing! Is it my imagination or what? It seems like the boards are really quite in the Knox/Blount County area!

Looks like Bearden is the team this year. Can anybody in the district beat Gale at Bearden? I heard she has a new pitch to go along with her rise ball. If this is true she will be tuff.

She is playing at Heritage High School according to their roster.

They lost to Morristown East and beat Chuckey-Doak. They also had two scrimmage games with a team from Canada that beat them badly both games. According to one of the parents. They are young with one good pitcher (a transfer from Farragut) and a catcher that is playing hurt. They have several injuries but don't know how bad any of them are. They have a couple of good outfielders but noone that has great power. A fair infield but not a lot of experience. They have a left handed batter with good speed that will try to slap the ball to short or lay the bunt down and try to beat the throw. My recommendation...run run run, if you can get them on!

Anyone have an update on the WB / Maryville 100 inning scrimmage? I know they use a pitching machine for the scrimmage, but any updates on defensive play and how both teams looked this early in the preseason?
