  1. I would never presume to know ALL of the players that deserve to be on the list ... therefore, I would never do it. I thought maybe a coach or someone with some actual authority/knowledge picked the girls on the poll. Thanks for clearing that up.
  2. If you cared to actually READ the post as it was written you would know there was no poor sportsmanship on my part. I agree wholeheartedly that Siegel would have never made it as far as they did without Caralisa. I was not taking ANYTHING away from her as a player. I think she is a force to be reckoned with and did NOT say she didn't deserve the nomination. My statement was simply that my child deserved to be nominated "as much as" Caralisa. I'm sure I could name MANY others who could have/should have been nominated. My reason for even saying anything on the board at all was because I was ASKING how the players that were initially put up on the board to be voted on were nominated. I truly wanted to know. Is it just more daddy ball or high school politics? For those of you who want to call me out as needing Aricept and a nap ... these Boards are joke if all they are used for is a forum for saying negative things about people they don't even know. As for the "books only" comment ... that's funny but so far from the truth. I'm glad that high school is over because the politics and name-calling and BS at this level is reprehensible.
  3. Other: Rebecca Williams ??“ Siegel High School ??“ signed with UT-Martin. Who decided the kids who could be voted on? I mean, really. Seems a little biased. Yes, I admit I'm putting my kid's name in the mix. She is a great ball player and deserves to be nominated as much as her teammate Caralisa Connell does ...
  4. The best don't always get to the state ... and they certainly don't always win. Some of it is just dumb luck ... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. This is why I believe Riverdale has the best program in the state ... not because of one player. The common denomination here IS NOT the group of players that changes from year to year, but the coach that does not. I know they will be in the finals in District 7AAA, as always, and I wish them the best.
  6. I am definitely not as knowledgeable as MrNoitAll but I too would have picked Riverdale over Tullahoma. Siegel beat Tullahoma very soundly (7-0) a few weeks ago when Jones didn't pitch ... and Riverdale is a much more consistent hitting team than Siegel. Not a difficult choice to make but a good guess under the circumstances.
  7. OK ... well, they must have meant NEXT WEDNESDAY. I know that there will be an article about it because a writer from the DNJ called my daughter to interview her about it. I'm very happy that she made it as a senior ... her last year possible. I'll be happy to post the results when they come out in the paper ... but someone else may have the knowledge and can share it prior to that time.
  8. A little birdy told me it would be in the paper(s) tomorrow. (Wed. August 2, 2006). I hope that little birdy wasn't fibbing ...
  9. Oh, and one more thing ... RHS didn't score until the 4th or 5th inning ... so it wasn't 2-0 until the 7th ...
  10. Ummm no way that Cat had 13 or so strike outs.... Siegel hit the ball ALOT and just got thrown out because their defense (mainly the RHS shortstop) was on top of things until the 7th inning. I'm thrilled for Monica West ... it was the perfect hit for the perfect player at the perfect moment. Way to go Siegel! (thanks for the compliment though!)
  11. Siegel beat Lincoln County 1-0 It was a close game and both teams played really well. Lincoln County fans were awfully nice and we appreciated their hospitality. Siegel will now play Riverdale at Riverdale Wed. night at 7 p.m. (I think!).
  12. They didn't announce the all tournament or all district teams after the championship game like has been done in numerous years. Not sure why the change? I guess we will have to wait to read it in the paper. As for Siegel ... yea we lost to Riverdale. As well we should since they are the #1 team in Tennessee. Riverdale is awesome and I'm glad we get the opportunity to play them because they push us to try and get better. I do have to say that I'm just thrilled for Siegel that they are getting their first opportunity to go to region. Win or not against Lincoln County tomorrow night ... I am thankful that they were able to go this far in my daughter's senior year. On a sentimental note, all of the teams in this district are good — with so many talented girls that I've enjoyed watching play. To all the seniors whose season has ended (or will soon end) — I wish them luck in everything they pursue in their future, softball and otherwise. I also wish Riverdale good luck and see no reason they shouldn't be playing in the state tournament and representing the good ole' town of Murfreesboro.
  13. Per my earlier post re: Megan Williams ... the 2.4 second time was given to me by her coach — Karen Green. You might know that she used to be MTSU's coach ... so I have to assume that she took the time "correctly" ... as I would have no idea myself.
  14. Megan Williams - 3B for Siegel in Murfreesboro - 2.4 seconds I don't know, TRULY ... is that fast? Seems fast to me because I'm old and I'm clueless.
  15. I'm new to all this but I'm hoping this great forum will help solve this mystery for me ... how do you find a new travel team when yours "ceases to exist" and you really need to be playing competitively with exposure in mind ... ????
