  2. complete standings after week 5: Summit 10-2 Centennial 10-5 Franklin 7-5 Independence 6-6 Ravenwood 5-7 Brentwood 7-8 Dickson County 0-12 this weeks upcoming series: Summit vs. Centennial Independence vs. Ravenwood Franklin vs. Dickson County with only two more weeks left in the regular season in district play, things are starting to take shape. Summit vs Centennial could decide 1st place and the automatic region birth this week. If Summit wins the series, they would need to win one game in the following week to finish 1st. If they sweep they are 1. If Centennial sweeps, they are 1. If Centennial wins 2 out of 3, they would need Summit to lose 2 more games to finish 1. i am going to go out on a limb and say Dickson finishes win less in the district to claim the 7 seed. Brentwood will be 10-8 to finish after the sweep Dickson in two weeks, which should move them up. Franklin, Indy, and Ravenwood all have to play each other over the next two weeks, so that should benefit Brentwood in the standings. Ravenwood also has to play Summit in the last series, so my prediction is they fall to the 6 seed due to having the toughest remaining schedule. so my early final predictions: 1. Summit 2. Centennial 3. Franklin 4. Brentwood 5. Independence 6. Ravenwood 7. Dickson County.

  9. I would like to see a mercy rule implemented. Far too often you get some really good teams and some really bad teams that play, especially in district games, and the scores get so lopsided. This happens even if the team ahead puts in jv and freshman players, and puts in rules like must pass so many times or score with a header. I would like for the mercy rule to be as followed: 1. if one teams is ahead by 12 goals at half, the game is called. 2. if a team gets up by 10 or more goals in the second half, the game should be called at the 20 minute mark of the second half or anytime a difference of 10 is reached after the 20 minute mark of the second half has passed. All the other sports have a mercy rule: Football and basketball use a constant running clock in the second half if a certain score is reached baseball and softball have run rules after 5 innings (baseball is 10 after 5, not sure on softball)

  12. i get ripped for not posting with class, but a post was made that said the championship game would be the best public vs. the best private school and that is classy, instead of saying the best teams were playing? that is the great thing about message boards, some people will post unitl people agree with them and love it when those people post, but get upset when someon posts something they dont agree with and then slam them. maybe i should have waited a few days to post about the games, to let the ones who lost have some time to simmer down.
  13. I guess I made a mistake of some on here being able to read what was actually posted. In my post I said Page was a legit team, capable of winning the state tournament. dont know how that is posting without class? never said their player were not any good, just made a comment about how much better the soccer is at the AAA in their county (Page lost to Independence 6-0, Brentwood 7-0). for those who didnt see the point of my post, and maybe too upset that their precious team got beat by a public school, here is a small comparsion to what i said. If you are a talented soccer player say, and you can go to North Carolina and sit for three years as a backup and then maybe have a shot to play as a senior or you can go to Martin Methodist and start as a freshman, some people choose to start as a freshman, nothing wrong with, it is not breaking any laws, but it does happen and by no means is it a slight to anyone.
  14. just savoring the moment....ND loss....CPA loss...JC loss....all on the first day. and sort of sad this happened, now the private school will say look we aren't as dominate as everyone said and the playing field is level so we should get to stay away from the othe private schools, when this happens once every 15 or so years. nothing against Greeneville, but they have taken advantage of a down year by Knox Catholic and caught a ND team looking ahead. Page is legit and has a great shot of winning a title this year, but they are benefiting from some girls who looked and saw they could not play for the big AAA schools in their county like Franklin, Ravenwood, Brentwood, and Independence and moved into a school zone where they could play.
  15. Wonder what ND will complain about after being taken to the woodshed by Greeneville? Field conditions, playing in Murfreesboro, the blind draw. Greeneville looked mighty impressive delivering that beat dow .
  16. The interesting thing about ridgeway winning in big time fashion is the next year they moved to AAA and have not done much since that move.this is reverse of Knox Catholic who had troubles in AAA and moved to A-AA and promptly won twice. Travel players help, but Page has 9 travel players and have lost to CPA three times this year. Page has a great coach and lots of travel players and it didn't change much as a result.
  17. i always find it funny how the people who post on here always want to say the public schools are whiners when thye make a comment about this. The part of this that is funny is when someone suggest that the private schools go play the other private schools they get so defensive. in some peoples view the private schools are whining about playing the other private schools. you are correct, there will be some great soccer in murfreesboro next week, in all but the AAA tournament it will be the best soccer money can buy. as far as the participation comment, we could solve this issue and have one state tournament for the entire state and lump AAA, AA-A, and division II together for it. oh but wait, then the championship would be won a large AAA or a division II school each year and then all those private schools who dont want to play with their own kind would join the public school whiners as it is not fair.
  18. i think big G is right, all of those teams are tough. having seen them all play, i think CPA and Page should advance to the state tournament. i couldnt decide which game to go watch last night so i picked the Page-Fairview game. glad i didnt pick CPA-Richland, that was over before it started. I was impressed with Page and their speed, but i was also impressed with Fairview and the way they countered. this was a great game, both teams had chances and not having seen Fairview play before and seeing they had a good record i was curious. they showed they are good going toe-to-toe with what i think is a state final favorite, i even think Page thought the game would not be as close as it was.hats off to both on a great game.
  19. at the A-AA level: first thing you need in girls soccer to win is to be a prviate school that controls its population. second thing is to go out and recruit, oops, I mean convince the best players around that your school's education is better than a public school and they should come for the academics and it is just great that they coincidentally play girls soccer. oh yeah, we can get mommy and daddy a job as well, and give you a little work to pay off the tution money that we cannot give to you. third, hope the TSSAA keeps saying this as ok to do. at least for the next two years.
  20. some districts reward the regular season champ with one of the region spots. Indy earned that, so if they dont make the final, the team that wins the tournament goes as the host and Indy would go as the 2nd place team. in district 11 A-AA semifinals on wednesday Richland vs Columbia Academy Fairview vs. winner of Montgomery Central-Grace Chrsitian Academy (rained out from monday, will play tuesday)
  21. I beg to differ that the other what if scenarios are all that different. what is the difference in a football player who graduates high school in december to be an early enrollee in college? they are leaving their high school to get better competition for spring football at college while leaving behind other high school opportunities. What is the difference in a kid who leaves their high school in basketball to play at a national power like Oak Hill Academy or some of the florida schools to play better competition than their high school offers? To me it is the same as saying to a soccer player, if you find better competition and want to play go ahead and play, we won't stop you. Dont let your high school coach hold you back. we say it is ok and think it is wonderful in the above scenarios for other sports, why not soccer. Why do people feel they need to change everything to be like someone else all the time, just because it works for other states, we assume we need to do it. high school soccer provides an opportunity for girls and boys to play a game they love with people they go to school with and in some cases grew up with. it is going to be different at public schools especially because they are not super teams who can pick and choose their players. all i am saying is dont change anything just to be like everyone else. if great players want to leave and play elsewhere, let them and i hope they do wonderfully if they go, but dont penalize the other kids who choose to stay for their sake.
  22. What about coaches who have other school duties in the spring? You would run them out of the coaching ranks by moving to spring, but that might be what some people want. Then they could hire travel team coaches for the school. No wait, tssaa took care of that with the coaching link rule they just passed. My other thought is how many girls are we actually talking about playing on these bigger travel teams? I say if the better players are hurt so much by playing HS soccer and learn so many bad habits, why do they continue to play? Just go play travel soccer and not worry with HS. What do you think would happen if basketball moved to early fall so they could play AAU in the winter and spring? Or we moved baseball to the fall so summer travel teams could play more in the spring? I think this is a reaction brought on by a select few. This smells like HS coaches afraid of losing a star player to travel or a private school afraid of losing all their players to travel.
  23. Sounds like Page-Spring Hill lived up the the hype. Would love to know what the altercation was. Were the reds issued to Page or Spring Hill or both? If I am correct, a straight red means an automatic 2 games suspension to whoever received it by TSSAA rules. If it was Spring Hill receiving, they would according to their schedule miss the CPA game next Thursday.
  24. I am going to go out on a limb and guess here: CAK Notre Dame Jackson Christian CPA Knoxville Catholic Chattanooga Christian Chester County Hume Fogg
  25. Games on Tuesday: Summit vs Brentwood at 4pm loser is eliminated Centennial vs winner at 7pm if centennial wins they are distinct champs and move on. If they lose they will play again on Wednesday with winner advancing to regions. Ravenwood has been eliminated from the tournament but advance to region by winning the regular seasonm
